4 SETUP
This field contains the system settings. The actual settings are located on the blue section of the
button.
Calibration Setup the calibration value of the electromagnetic brake unit and the
motorbrake. Setting the calibration value of brake unit causes differences in
brake operation to occur under the following circumstances: Changing the
roller pressure against the tyre, changing the magnetic forces and differences in
mains voltage. The Fortius' standard brake unit calibration is set at 0. Although
not essential, this setting can be changed to give a more personalised power
reading.
After pressing the button CALIBRATION, a new field appears. Here you can
start the calibration or reset the calibration value. When using the
electromagnetic brake unit, press START and start cycling until the STOP
message appears; then your speed is above 30 Km/h. The computer will
measure the deceleration of the rear wheel at the moment at which you stop.
The calibration value will appear in the screen. When using the motorbrake,
you also press START and you help the motor to start running, the calibration
will be carried out automatically.
If the calibration has gone wrong because, for example, you started to cycle
whilst measuring was taking place, an error will appear in the display. Then
you will have to carry out the calibration again.
Scale factor Gives the correct value of the power. The factory settings are directly linked
to the brake unit and can only be calibrated with a special power meter,
adjustable from 80 to 120.
Sample This is the frequency at which the Cosmos computer records the real time
data that you produce during training. For example a 5 second sample rate will
record all your data such as speed, power heart rate etc every 5 seconds.
Selecting a 10second sample rate will double the capacity of the Cosmos
memory but cut the detail of the data that can be analyzed in half.
Clock Set up the 24hr clock & date. Use cursor UP & DOWN to navigate to the
setting you want to change. Use LEFT & RIGHT to move to the next number.
Language Choice of six languages: Dutch, English, German, French, Spanish and Italian.
Speed Choice of km, km/h (default) or miles, mp/h.
Weight Choice of kg (default) or lbs.
Sound Opens a new screen where you can turn on or off the following sounds -
Heart rate alarm signal, Keys , Faults, Countdown & finish.
