You can split the keyboard i n the center for duet pl ay so the
left and right sid es have the same ranges.
The Duet Mode is the perfect way to con duct lessons, with
the teacher playing on the left side as the student plays the
same song on the right side.
■ Pedal Operation when Playing a Duet
• If you are using the separately available SP-34 Pedal
Unit, the left outer pedal is the le ft keyboard damper
pedal, while the r ight outer pedal is the right keyboard
damper pedal. Only t he damper pedal for the right
keyboard supports half -pedal operations.
• To use the supplied SP-3 Pedal as a da mper pedal that
affects both the left keyboard and right keyboard, connect
it to the cr DAMPER PEDAL jack. Half-pedal ope ration
is not supported in t his case.
■ To use the Duet Mode
1.
Hold down the bp^ button until “[FUNCTION]”
appears on the display.
This enters the FUNCTION mode .
2.
Use the bk U and bl I buttons to display
“KEYBOARD” and then touch bm ENTER .
3.
Use the bk U an d bl I buttons to displa y “DUET”
and then touch bm ENTER .
4.
After confirming that “Duet Mode” is displayed,
touch bm ENTER .
5.
Use the bk – and bl + buttons t o change the Duet
Mode setting.
• To use the Duet Mod e, select either “On” or “Pan”
for this settin g. To ex it the Duet Mode and r eturn to
normal keyboard play, select “Off”.
6.
To exit the FUNCTION Mod e, hold down bp EXIT
until “[FUNCTION]” disappears from the display.

You can use the registratio n funct ion to register the setup of
the Digi tal Pia no (ton e, rhyth m, and other settings). You can
recall a registered setup as required to perform a pa rticular
song, etc.
NOTE
• Registration opera tions can be pe rformed in the
RHYTHM Mode or ACCOMP Mode.
• Registration opera tions cannot be performed in the
SONG Mode, or while demo play, music presets, or any
setting operati on is in progress.
■ Setup Storage Locat ions
Setup registrati ons are stored in m emory locations that are
divided into 2 4 banks. Each bank has four storage ar eas,
which means you can register up to 96 set ups (24 banks × 4
areas).
• Use the bq BANK button to specify a b ank.
• Specify an area usi ng the br Area 1 to ck Ar ea 4
buttons.

■ To register a setup
• Specifying a bank and area that already has data
stored to it in the procedu re below cause s the
recorded data to be deleted. For information about
banks and areas, see “Setup Stor age Locations”.
1.
Use the 3 mode selector button to cycle through
settings until the “RHYTHM” or “ACCOMP”
indicator is lit.
2.
Configure the Digital Piano with the setup you w ant
to register.
3.
Use the bp^ button to cycle through settings until
the “^ REG.” indic ator to th e right of t he butto n is
lit.
4.
Select bank you want to use as the registrati on
destination.
•T o u c h bq BANK to cycle to the ne xt bank number.
• Use the bk – and bl + buttons to select a bank
number.
5.
Select the area where you want to store the setup.
While holding dow n cl STORE , touch an area button
from br Area 1 to ck Area 4.
This causes “Sure? ” to appear on the display.
• To exit setup registr ation at this time, touch bk –.
6.
To register the setup, touch bl +.
This completes the regi stration opera tion and displays
“Complete”.
■ To recall a registered setup
1.
Use the 3 mode selector button to cycle through
settings until the “RHYTHM” or “ACCOMP”
indicator i s lit.
2.
Use the bp^ button to cycle through settings until
the “^ REG.” indica tor to the righ t of the bu tton is
lit.
3.
Use bq BANK , or bk – and bl + to selec t the ban k
of the setup you want to recall.
4.
Touch one of the buttons from br Area 1 through
ck Area 4 to select the area where the s etup you
want to recall i s located.
This recalls the setup.
• This causes the Digital Piano’s settings t o chan ge in
accordance with the setup you recalled.

The MIDI recorder record s Digital Piano keyboard p lay as
MIDI data. Reco rded data is st ored as SONG Mode song
numbers 11 through 15.
• You can have up to five recorded songs in memory.
• Three-track multi-tr ack recording is suppor ted for each
song.
• A maximum of approximate ly 30,000 notes (t otal for three
tracks) can be recorded for each song.
• CASIO COMPUTER CO., LTD. takes no responsibility
for any da mages, l ost profits, or claim s by third
parties arising from the deletion of recorded data due
to malfunction, repair, or for any other r eason.
■ Recorder Tracks and Recorded Data
The MIDI recorder of t he Digital Piano is a t hree-track multi-
track recorder.
R e c o r d e r t r a c k t y p e s a r e a s y s t e m t r a c k a n d t w o s o l o t r a c k s ,
and the data t hat can be recorded depends on the track
type.
• System T rack: The system track ca n be used to record
keyboard play using Auto Accompan iment. Layer, split,
and other keyboar d settings can also b e recorded.
• Solo Track 1, S olo Track 2: A s olo track can be used to
record keyboard p lay using a single tone (Upper1).
These tracks can be overd ubbed as shown bel ow.
■ Saving to an External Device
After you cr eate a recording wit h the Digital Pian o, you can
save the resulting dat a to a USB f lash drive. See “US B
Flash Drive” (page 4/4).
• When the remaining recordable note count is 100 or
lower during recording, the bo REC0 button w ill
flash. The bo REC0 button light will stop fl ashing
and turn off when the re maining rec ordable not e
count becomes ze ro.
• Should power fail duri ng recording, all o f the data in
the track you are recording will be del eted.
■ Getting Ready to Use t he MIDI Recorder
Your Digital Piano has two recorders: a MIDI record er and
an audio recorder. The MIDI recorder can be used while the
Digital piano is in the MIDI Mode. If the Digital Pia no is in the
Audio Mode, per form the procedure below to switch t o the
MIDI Mode. Note t hat the Digit al Piano is in th e MIDI Mode
under initia l default setti ngs, so the opera tion below is not
necessary if you have not changed the se tting.
1.
Hold down the bp^ button until “[FUNCTION]”
appears on the display.
This enters the FUNCTION mode.
2.
Use the bk U a n d bl I buttons to display “SONG ”
and then touch bm ENTER .
3.
After confirming that “Song Type” is displayed,
touch bm ENTER .
4.
Use the bk – and bl + buttons to change the
setting to “MIDI”.
5.
To exit the FUNCTION Mode, hold down bp EXIT
until “[FUNCTION]” disappears from the di splay.

■ To record to the system track
1.
Configure the tone, rhythm, effects, tempo, and
other settings you want to use during recording.
2.
Touch bo REC0.
This enters re cord standby, indicated b y bo REC0
flashing red.
• To cancel recording, touch bo REC0 again.
• If the MIDI recorde r already has t he maximum
allowable number of songs recorded, t he message
“Data Full” will appear on the display, and the Digital
Piano will exit record standby.
3.
To start recording, play something on the keyboard.
This causes bo REC0 to stop flashin g and remain l it
red, which indicates that recording is in progre ss.
• Instead of playing on the keyb oard, you could also
start rhythm pla y and start r ecording by touchin g
8 START/STOP. In t his case, only the rhythm is
recorded until you play something on the keyboard.
4.
To stop recor ding, touch bo REC0.
• This will automatically enter the SONG Mode, with
what you just recorded selected for playback.
5.
To play back the song you just recorded, touch
8a.
■ To overdub record a solo track over a
recorded system track
NOTE
• If you are perfo rming the procedure bel ow immediately
following the procedur e under “To record to t he system
track”, you do not need t o enter the SONG Mode or select
a song. Therefore, you should skip steps 1 and 2 below.
1.
Use the 3 mode selector button to cycle through
settings un til t he “SO NG” (SONG Mode) indicator is
lit.
2.
Use the bk – and bl + buttons to select the song
number of a MIDI r ecorder song that was recor ded
to the system track.
• Song numbers 11 through 15 are for songs recorded
with the MIDI re corder. If necessary, you can touch
8a to play back the song and che ck its
contents.
3.
Configure tone and other settings you want to use
for recording.
4.
Touch bo REC0.
This enters re cord standby, indicated b y bo REC0
flashing red.
5.
Hold down the bo REC0 button until “[MIDI REC
SETTING]” appears on the di splay.
6.
After confirming tha t “Rec Track” is displa yed,
touch bm ENTER .
7.
Use the bk – and bl + buttons to select a track.
• The display will show “Solo 1” or “ Solo 2” depending
on the solo t rack you select.
8.
To start recording, play something on the keyboard.
This simultaneously s tarts playback o f the system track
and recording to the solo track yo u selected in step 7
above.
This cau ses bo REC0 to stop flashing and rema in lit
red, which indicates tha t recording is in progr ess.
• Instead of playing on the keyboard, you could also
start system track playback and solo track recording
by touching 8 START/STO P. In this cas e, rests
are inserted at t he beginning of the solo track un til
you start playing something on the keyboard.
9.
To stop recording, touch bo REC0.
10.
To play back the song you just recorded, touch
8a.
• This will play back the contents of both the system
track and the so lo track.
• If you want to overdub record the other solo track,
perform step s 3 through 1 0 again, selecting the
remaining (unr ecorded) solo track in step 7.

The audio recorder record s Digital Piano ke yboard play as
audio data. Recording s are stored as WAV files (linear
PCM, 16bit, 44.1 kHz, stereo) to the USB flash drive in the
Digital Piano’s USB flash drive port.
• Use a USB flash drive that is formatte d as FAT32 or
exFAT.
• Never remove the US B flash drive w hile Audio
Recorder recording or playback is in progress. Doing
so can corrupt the data on the USB flash drive and
damage the USB flash drive port.
■ To prepare to use the audio reco rder
1.
Perform the steps below to put the Digital Piano
into the Audio Mode.
(1) Hold down the bp^ button until “[FUNCTION]”
appears on the display, an d then release the button.
This enters the FUNCTION mode.
(2) Use the bk U and bl I buttons to display
“SONG” and then touch bm ENTER .
(3) After confirming th at “Song Type” is displayed,
touch bm ENTER .
(4) Use the bk – and bl + buttons to change t he
setting to “ Audio”.
(5) To exit the FUNCTION Mode, hold down bp EX IT
until “[FUNCTION]” disappears f rom the display.
2.
Insert t he USB flas h drive i nto the Di gital Piano ’s
cq USB flash drive port.
• Carefully push the USB flash drive in a s far as it will
go. Do not use u ndue force when in serting th e USB
flash drive.
• When the Digit al Piano detect s the USB flash drive,
the message “MOUNTING” will appear on the
display. Do not perform any operation while t his
message is displ ayed. Wait until it disappears.

• Instead of playing on the keyboard, you could also
start rhythm play an d start recording by t ouching
8 START/STOP .
4.
To stop recording, touch bo REC0.
• This will store the recording a s a WAV file to the
USB fl ash dri ve.
• The Digital Piano will automatically switch to the
SONG Mode with th e file it just sto red selected for
playback.
5.
To play back the song you just recorded, touch
8a.
■ To select a nd playback a file recorded with the
audio recorder
1.
Perform the procedure under “To prep are to use
the audio recorder”.
2.
Use the 3 mode selector button to cycle through
settings unti l the “SONG” (SONG Mode) indicator is
lit.
3.
Use the bk – and bl + buttons to select the file you
want to play.
4.
To start playback, touch 8a.
• Playback stops automatically when the end of the
file is reached. To stop playback part way through,
touch 8a.

If you want to play a song stored on a USB flash
drive, inser t the dri ve into th e Digital Piano’s
cq USB flash drive port.
2.
Use the 3 mode selector button to cycle through
settings until the “SONG” (SONG Mode) indicator is
lit.

Use the bk – and bl + buttons to select a song
number.
• Selecting some songs will initially cause “LOADI NG”
to be displayed. This indicates that data is being
loaded.
4.
To start playback of the selected song, touch
8a.
• The yellow and red LEDs above the 8a button
will flash in time with the beat (yello w for beat 1, red
for the remaining beats of each measure) .
• The op erati ons b elow can be perfor med wh ile
playback is in progress.
■ To play a song wit h one of hand parts m uted
(for practice of the mut ed part)
• This proce dure can be used for a user song or a song on
a USB flash dr ive.
1.
Perform steps 1 a nd 2 under “To select and play
back a song”.
2.
If you w ant, you coul d use the procedure under “To
adjust the tempo” (page 2/4) to specify the tempo.
3.
Use the 4 PART button to select the part you want
to mute.
• Each touch of 4 PART cycles through t he
playback part settings. The currently sele cted
playback part(s) is indicated by t he “L” and “R”
indicators that appear in the bottom cen ter of the
display.
4.
To start playback, touch 8a.
• Play the muted part a long with the pl ayback.
• When playing back a standard MIDI f ile (SMF format)
stored on a USB flash drive, channel 3 will be assigned to
the left-hand part while chann el 4 will be assig ned to the
right-hand part .
