direct sunlight as there ca n be a considerable rise in
tempera ture in side the car .
Do not stick paper or sticker o n the CD , nor scra tch the
surface of the CD .

On safety
As the laser beam used in t he CD play er section is
harmful to the eyes, do not a ttem pt to disassemb le the
casing. Refer servicing to qualied personnel only .
Should any solid o bject or liquid fall into the uni t,
unpl ug the unit, and h ave i t checked b y qualied
personnel befor e operating i t an y further .
Discs with non-standard sh apes (e.g., heart, square ,
star) cannot be pla yed on this uni t. A ttem pting to do so
may dama ge the unit. Do not u se such discs.
On power sourc es
For A C operatio n, check that the uni t ’ s opera ting
voltag e is identical with yo ur local power supp ly (see
“S pecications ”) and use the supplied A C pow er cord;
do not use an y other type.
e unit is not disconnected from the A C p ower sour ce
(mains) as lo ng as it is co nnected to the wall outlet,
even if the unit itself has been turned o.
Un plug the uni t from the wall ou tlet when it is not used
for an ext ended period of time.
When the batteries ar e not to be used, rem ove them to
avo id damage tha t can be caused by ba ttery leakage or
corrosio n.

On placement
Do not leave the unit in a locatio n near heat sour ces, in
a place subject to direct sunlight, ex cessive d ust or
mechanical shock or in a ca r subject to the direct rays

Do not place anything wi thin 10 mm of the side of the
cabinet. e v entilatio n holes mu st be unobstructed for
the unit to opera te pr operly and p rolo ng the life o f its
com ponents.
Since a strong ma gnet is used for the speakers, keep
personal credit car ds using magnetic coding o r spring-
wound wa tches a way fr om the unit to p reven t possible
damage fro m the magnet.
On operation
If the unit is br ought dir ectly from a cold to a warm
location, or is p laced in a very damp room, mo isture
may co ndense on the lens inside the CD p layer section.
Should this occur , the unit will not operate pr operly . I n
this case, remov e the CD and wai t about a n hour fo r the
moist ure to eva porate .
If the unit has not been used for a lo ng time, set it in the
playback mode to warm it u p for a f ew minut es before
inserting a cassette.
Notes on cassettes
Break o the cassette tab from side A o r B to pr event
accidental recor ding. If y ou wan t to reu se the tape for
recor ding, cover the b rok en tab with adhesive ta pe.

General
The pow er is not on.

Radio
Reception is poor .
Reorient the antenn a to imp ro ve FM receptio n.
Reorient the unit itself to im pr ove AM r eception.
The audio is weak or has poor quality .
Replace all t he batt eries with new ones if they are w eak.
Move the uni t awa y from the TV .
If you ar e using the remo te while listening to AM radio ,
noise ma y be heard.
The picture of your T V becomes unstable.
If you ar e listening t o an FM pr ogram near the TV with
an indoor an tenna, mo ve the unit a way fr om the TV .
T ape pla yer
The tape does not mov e when you press an

erasing quality .
Cle an the heads by u sing dry- or wet-type cleaning

use, before y ou start an im portant r ecording, o r aer
playing a n old tape. F ailur e to clean the tape heads can
cause degraded sound quality o r an inabili ty of the unit
to recor d or pla y tapes. Fo r details, ref er to the
instructions of the cleanin g cassette.
e T YPE II (high position) or TYPE IV (metal) tape is
being used. U se TYPE I (normal) tape only .
Demagnetize the heads using a commercially ava ilable
tape head demagnetizer .
Replace all t he batt eries with new ones if they are w eak.
USB device
Recording to an USB de vice cannot be started.

times, the le structure within the USB device becomes

Recording to a USB de vice results in an error .

– e le str ucture is extr emely com plex.
– e memory is almost ful l.
– e internal memory is fragmented.
T o a void the abo ve pr oblems, we r ecommend tha t you
adhere to the fo llowing guidelines:
– Keep the total num ber of folders o n USB device to
100 or less
– Keep the total num ber of les per folder to 100 or less.
Erroneous display
e data stored o n the USB device may be corrup ted.
Send the music data to the US B device again.

Remove an y obstacles in the path o f the remot e and the
unit.
Make sure the rem ote sensor is no t exposed to strong
light such as dir ect sunlight or uo rescen t lamp ligh t.
Move c loser to the unit when using the rem ote.
Aer trying the remedies, if you still have p rob lems,
unpl ug the A C power cor d or rem ove all the bat teries.
Aer all the indication s in the display disa ppear , plug the
AC po wer cor d or insert the batt eries again. If the
