BLUET OO TH wireles s technology
BLUET OO TH wireless technology is a short -range
wireles s technology linking digital devices, such
as personal computers and digit al still cameras.
Using the BLUET OO TH wireless technology , you
can oper ate the units involved within a r ange of
about 10 meters.
The BLUET OO TH wireless technology is
commonly used be tween two devices, but a
single device can be c onnected to multiple
devices.
Y ou do not need wir es to get connect ed as you
do with a USB connection, and you do not need
to place the devic es face t o face as you do with
wireles s infrared t echnology . Y ou can use the
technology with one BLUET OOTH devic e in your
bag or pocket.
BLUET OO TH wireless technology is a global
standard supporte d by thousands of companies.
These companies pr oduce products that me et
the global standard.
Supported BLUET OO TH version and
pr ofiles
Pr ofile refers to a standar d set of capabilities for
various BLUET OOTH pr oduct capabilities. See
“Specifications” for details on the supported
BLUET OO TH version and profiles.
Note
ˎT o use a BLUET OOTH device c onnected to this system,
the device must support the same profile as this syst em.
Note that the functions of the BL UETOO TH device may be
different depending on the specific ations of the device,
even if it has the same profile as this system.
ˎBecause of the properties of BLUET OOTH wir eless
technology , playback on this system is slightly delayed
compar ed with audio playback on the transmitting device.
Effective c ommunication r ange
BLUET OO TH devices should be used within
appro ximately 10 meters (unobstruct ed distance)
of each other . The eff ective communication
range may bec ome shorter under the following
conditions.
When a person, metal object, wall or other
obstruction is between the devic es with a
BLUET OO TH connection
L
ocations wher e a wireless LAN is installed
Ar ound microwave ovens tha t are in use
L
ocations wher e other electromagne tic
waves occur
Effects of o ther devices
BLUET OO TH devices and wireles s LAN (IEEE
802. 11b/g) use the same frequency band (2.4
GHz). When using your BLUET OO TH device
near a device with wir eless LAN capability ,
electromagne tic interferenc e may occur . This
could r esult in lower data transf er rates, noise,
or inability to conne ct. If this happens, try the
following r emedies:
T
ry connecting this system and BLUET OOTH
mobile phone or BLUET OO TH device when
you are at least 10 me ters away from the
wireles s LAN equipment.
T
urn off the power to the wireles s LAN
equipment when using your BLUET OO TH
device within 10 met ers.
Effects on o ther devices
The radio w aves broadcast by this system may
interfer e with the operation of some medical
devices. Since this interfer ence may result in
malfunction, always turn off the power on
this system, BLUETOO TH mobile phone and
BLUET OO TH device in the following loca tions:
In hospit
als, on trains, and in airplanes
Near aut omatic doors or fire alarms
Note
ˎThis system supports security functions that comply with
the BLUET OOTH specific ation as a means of ensuring
security during communica tion using BLUETOO TH
technology . However , this security may be insufficient
depending on the setting cont ents and other factors, so
always be car eful when performing communication using
BLUET OOTH te chnology.
ˎSony cannot be held liable in any way for damages
or other loss r esulting from information leaks during
communica tion using BLUETOO TH technology .
ˎBLUETOO TH communication is no t necessarily guar anteed
with all BLUET OOTH devic es that have the same profile as
this system.
ˎBLUETOO TH devices conne cted with this system must
comply with the BLUET OO TH specification prescribed
by the BLUET OOTH SIG, Inc., and must be certified t o
comply . However , even when a device c omplies with the
BLUET OOTH specific ation, ther e may be cases where the
characteristics or spe cifications of the BLUET OOTH device
make it impossible t o connect, or may result in different
contr ol methods, display or oper ation.
ˎNoise may occur or the audio may cut off depending on
the BLUET OOTH devic e connected with this system, the
communica tions environment, or surrounding conditions.
