1 Safety instructions
• Only use the charger plug supplied. Do not use oth er chargers as this may dama ge the battery cells .
• Only insert rec hargeable b atteries of th e same type. N ever use ordina ry , non-recharge able
batteries. Insert r echargeable ba tteries so they con nect to the righ t poles (indicated in the battery
compartmen t of the handse t).
• Do not touch t he charger and plug cont acts wi th sharp or me tal objects.
• The operations o f some medical devices may be af fected.
• The handset ma y cause an unpl easant buzzing so und in hearing aids.
• Do not place th e basic unit in a damp room or at a dist ance of less than 1.5 m away from a water
source. Keep water awa y from the handset.
• Do not use the telephone i n environ ments wher e there is a risk of expl osions.
• Dispose of the batte ries and maint ain the telephone in an environment -friendly manner .
• As this telephon e cannot be used in case of a p ower cut, you shou ld use a mains- independent
telephone fo r emergency cal ls, e.g. a mob ile phone
2 Getting started
2.1 Insta lling the base (Picture 1)
• Plug one end of the adaptor into the mains power outlet and the other e nd into the a daptor jack o n
the back of the base. !!! The mains power must be close and easy accesible.
• Connect one e nd of the tele phone cord with the wal l phone jack and the other end to the bottom of
the base .
• Put the telephon e- and AC power line cord in the base guides as shown on picture 1A.
2.2 Installing the handset (Picture 2)
• Open the batte ry compartment.
• Insert the 2 sup plied recharge able AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries, re specting the po larity (+
and -). !!!Use only approved re chargeable batteries supplied with the phone.
• Close the batte ry compartment.
Note: Leave the handset on the base unit for 24 hours be fore use.
When the handset is fully charged, icon will appear on the disp lay .
The display will show t he handset name and number t o indicate that it is re gistered to the base .
Note that new batteries do not reach their full cap acity until they have been put to normal use for
several days. T o keep the batteries in the best condition, le ave the handset off the base for a few
hours at a time.

3 Navigating the men us
The phone has an easy to use menu system. Whe n the handset is switched on and in standby:
• Press Menu (D) to open the m ain menu.
• Then use Up ( C) or Down ( J) buttons to scroll through the availab le options.
• Press Menu (D) to select or confirm an option.
• T o retu rn to the prev ious menu level, pr ess Phonebook (H ).
• T o exit the menu and return to st andby , press End call (I).
If no buttons are pressed for 20 seconds, the h andset return s to standby a utomatically .
4 Getting started
4.1 Switching the handset on/off
• Press and hold the On/Off key (I) until the display turns on. The handset will search the base.
• Press and hold the On/Of f key (I) for 5 seconds. The display will go of f.
4.2 Changing the menu language
• Press Menu (D), scroll down (J) to “HA NDSET” and press Menu (D) to confirm.
• Scroll down to “LANGUAGE” and press Menu (D) .
• Press Up (C) or Down (J) to select the preferred lan guage and press menu (D) to co nfirm.
4.3 Set the date
If subscribed to Caller ID, the date and time will be set automatically whenever a cal l is received (see “10
Caller ID and the Calls list” ). The date an d time can also be set manual ly on the indiv idual hands ets.
• Press Menu (D), scroll down to “DA TE-TIME” and press Men u (D). The display shows “DA TE
SET”.
• Press Menu (D) to select.
• Enter the da te (e.g. 12 --08 for 12 th of August) an d press Menu (D) to confirm.
4.4 Set the time
• Press Menu (D), scroll down to “DA TE-TIME” and press Menu (D).
• Scroll down to “CLOCK SET” and press Me nu (D).
• Enter the time in 24 hour format (e.g. 18--3 0 for 6.30pm) and press Menu to
• confirm.
5 Using the telephone
5.1 Receiving a telephone call
• Press tal k (E) to answer the call, or sim ply lift up the handset from the charge r to answer the call.
• Press End call (I) to f inish the call.
5.2 Making a telephone call
• Press t alk (E). When t here is the dial tone, dial the numb er .
• During a call, press Up (C) or Dow n (J) to increase or decrease the volume.
Note: The handset will automatically time the dura tion of all external calls. The ca ll timer will d isplay after
the first 15 seco nds of the call. Wh en the call ends, the total d uration of the t alk time flashes for 2
seconds.
5.3 Pre-dialing
• Dial the tel ephone numb er . If a mistake is made press Pho n ebook (H) to delete the last digit.
• Press talk (E) to start the call.
• Press the on-hook key to hang up or put the handset back on the base.
5.4 Handsfree mode
Y ou can speak wit h your correspondent without picking up the handset.
• Press the Handsf ree button (E ) during a call to act i vate or deact ivate the handsfr ee mode.
• Press End call (I) to f inish the call.
5.5 Microphone mute
It is possible to mu te the microphone during a conversa tion.
• Press the mute button (D). Y ou can talk freely without being heard by the calling party .“MUTE ” is
displayed.
• Press the mut e button (D) a g ain to retur n to normal mo de.
5.6 Call from the redial list
The last 10 di aled numbers ar e stored in the redial list.
• Press redial (M) to open the red ial list.
• Press up (C) or down (J) to scro ll through the list.
• Press talk (E) to dial the displayed entry . Press End call (I) to return to st andby .
6 Het alfanumerieke to etsenbord gebruiken
Use the keyp ad letters to enter names, e.g. to store TOM:
• Press 8 once to enter T .
• Press 6 three tim es to enter O.
• Press 6 once to enter M.
• Press Phonebo ok (H) to delete the last character or digit.
• Press Up (C) or Do wn (J) to move b e tween characters /digits.
• Press 1 to insert a sp ace.
• Use 1 twice to insert a d a sh.
7 Phonebook
7.1 Storing name and numbers
The phonebo ok can store up to 50 names and numbers. Names can be up to 12 chara cters long and
numbers up to 24 digits. Different ringe r melodies can also be selected for the phonebook entries.
• Press Menu (D). Scro ll down to “PHONEBOOK”.
• Press Menu (D) to select. The disp lay show “ADD ENTRY”
• Press Menu (D) to select. The disp lay shows “NAME”
• Enter the na me using the alphanumerical keypad and press menu ( D). The display sh ows
“NUMBER 1”.
• Enter the nu mber and press menu (D). The display shows “ME LODIE 1”
• Press up (C) or down (J) to sel ect the required ringer melody a nd press menu (D). the display show s
“ADD ENTRY”
• Enter the ne xt name and nu mber entry that needs to be stored in the ph onebook or press end call
(I) to return to standby .
• T o dia l a number fr om the phoneb ook key (H), pre ss up (C) or down (J) to scroll and press talk (E).
The number will be di aled automaticall y .
7.2 Edit or name or num ber in the phonebook
• Press Menu (D). Scro ll down to “PHONEBOOK” .
• Press Menu (D) to select.
• Scro ll Down t o “MODIFY ENTRY” and press Menu (D).
• Scroll Up or Down to the en try that need s to be edited, or search alph abetically a nd press Menu (D) .
The existing nam e is displayed.
• Press Phoneboo k (H) to delete th e name if required, then ent er the new name and press Me nu. The
existing number i s displayed.
• Follow the same instructions a s mentioned in “7 Phonebook”
8 Handset settings
8.1 Handset ringer volume
The ring volume can be set to di fferent vo lume levels for internal and external calls.
Choose from 5 volume levels or Off.
• Press Menu (D), scroll Down to “HANDSET” and press Menu (D).
• Press Up (C) or Down (J) t o select “EXT RING VOL” and press Menu (D).
• Press Up (C) or Down (J) t o select the volume (1 - 5 or “OFF”).
• Press Menu (D) to confirm or Ph onebook (H) to return to the p r evious menu .
Note: When the phone is ringing, adjust th e ringer volume by pressin g Up or Down.
“INT RING VOL” is only used when you have more handsets connected to the b a se station, Se e
8.2 Handset ringer mel ody
Different r inger melodies can b e set for internal and external calls. Cho ose from 10 dif ferent ring er
melodies. While scrolli ng a sample ring will be he ard for each melody.
• Press Menu (D), scroll D own to “HANDSE T” and press Menu (D).
• Press Up (C) or Down (J) t o select “EXT MELODY” and press Menu (D) .
• Press Up (C) or Down (J) to select the ringer melody (1 - 10).
• Press Menu (D) to confirm or Ph onebook (H) to return to the p r evious menu .
Note: Calls from the numbers that have been stored in the phoneboo k will ring using the ringer melody se t
when the entry was stored.
“INT MELODY” is on ly used when you have more handset s connected to the base station, See
8.3 Auto answer
The phone is se t to answer calls b y lifting the handset of f the base or charger . This feature can be
switched off so tha t calls can only be answered by pressing T alk.
• Press Menu (D), scroll down to “HANDSET” and press Menu (D).
• Scroll Down (J) to “AUTO ANSWER” and press Menu (D).
• Press Up (C) or Down (J) t o select “ON” or “OFF” and press Menu (D) to confir m.
8.4 Handset name
The handset can be personalized by name ( up to 10 charac ters long).
• Press Menu (D), scroll d own to “HANDS ET” and press Menu (D).
• Scroll Down (J) to “NAME” and press Menu (D).
• Enter the new handset name and press Menu (D) to con firm.
Note: The handse t name will onl y be displayed for approximately 20 seconds w hen no button i s pressed.
If a mistake is ma de, press Phonebook to delete the last ch aracter or digit.
8.5 Language
• Press Menu (D), scroll d own to “HANDS ET” and press Menu (D).
• Scroll Down (J) to “LANGUAGE” and pr ess Menu (D).
• Press Up (C) or Down (J) to select the prefer red language and pre ss Menu (D) to confirm.
8.6 Key beep
When pressing a button on the handset keypad, a beep will be heard. This can be switched on or off.
• Press Menu (D), scroll down to “HANDSET” and press Menu (D). The display sh ows “BEEP”.
• Press Menu (D) to select. The display s hows “KEYTONE”.
• Press Menu (D) to conf irm.
• Press Up (C) or Down (J) t o select “ON” or “OFF” and press Menu (D) to confir m.
8.7 Battery low warni ng beep
When the batt ery is almost fu lly discharged, a warning be ep will be heard every minute during a call .
These be eps can be switc hed on or off.
• Press Menu (D), scroll Down to ”HANDSET” and press Menu (D). The di splay shows “BEEP”.
• Press Menu (D) to select.
• Scroll down to “LOW BA TTERY” and press Menu (D) .
• Press Up (C) or Down (J) t o select “ON” or “OFF ” and press Menu (D) t o confirm.
8.8 Out of range warning beep
If the handset goes out of range, warn ing beeps will be heard during a call. These wa rning beep can be
switched on or off.
• Press Menu (D) and scroll down to “HAN DSET” and press Menu. The display sho ws “BEEP”.
• Press Menu (D) to select.
• Scroll down to “OUT RANG” and press Menu .
• Press Up or Down to select “ON” or “OFF” and press Menu (D) to confirm.
8.9 Keyp ad lock using the menu
The menu can be used to lock the keypad.
• Press Menu, scroll Down to “HANDSET” and press Menu.
• Scroll down to “KEYLOCK ?” and press Menu to confirm. is displayed.
Note: T o un lock the keypad, press any button o n the keypad, t hen press * within 5 seconds.
9 Base settings
9.1 Change base PIN code
Some functio ns are protected by a 4 digit PIN code which m u st be enter ed if the sett ings are chan ged.
The default PIN is “0000” . The PIN can be changed to a preferred number .
• Press Menu (D) , scroll Down to “SETUP” and press Menu (D) .
• Scroll down to “PIN CODE” and press Menu (D) .
• Enter the 4 digit PIN co de (default = 000 0, digits are shown as ****) and press Menu (D) .
• Enter a new 4 digit PIN and press Menu ( D).
• Re-enter the n ew PIN again and press Menu (D) to confirm.
IMPORT ANT : If the PIN code is changed, please keep a recor d of the new number .
9.2 Dial mode
The phone is se t to tone diali ng. The diali ng mode shoul d only need t o change if connected to an ol der
type of switc hboard/PABX which requires pulse dialing.
• Press Menu (D), scroll down to “SETUP” and press Me nu (D).
• Scroll Down to “DIAL MODE” and press Menu (D) .
• Press Up (C) or Down (J ) to select “TONE DIAL” or “PULSE DIAL” and press Menu (D) to confirm .
9.3 Recall Mode
Press the flash ke y R (G) to use cert ain services on your external lin e such as “call waiting” (if your ph one
company of fers this feature); or to tran sfer calls if you u se a telephone excha n ge (P ABX). The f lash key R
is a brief interruption of the line. Y ou can set the flash time to 100ms, 300ms.
• Press Menu (D), scroll Down to “SETUP” and press Menu (D).
• Scroll down to “RECALL” and press Menu (D) .
• Press Up (C) or Down (J) t o select “TIMED BR,1” (100ms) or “TIMED BR,2” (300 ms) and press
Menu (D) to conf irm.
9.4 Restore default settings
The phone can b e restored to i ts default (original) setti ngs.
IMPORT ANT - Resetting the phone to its default setting s will delete all entries in the Phon ebook
and Calls list.
• Press Menu (D) , scroll down to “SETUP” and press Menu (D).
• Scroll do wn to “DEFAUL T” and press Menu (D).
• Enter the 4 d igit PIN code (de fault = 0000) and press Menu. The display shows “CONFI RM ?”.
• Press Menu (D) to confirm or Phonebook to r eturn to the previous menu. The phone will restart
automatically .
9.5 Emergency default
If the PIN code has been lost, the phon e can still be restored to its default settings.
• Remove the batt eries from the ha ndset.
• Press and hold * while repla cing the batteries. The display show s “DEF AULT?”.
• Press Menu (D) to confirm. The phone will restart automatical ly .
9.6 Eco mode
By operatin g the phone i n Eco mode, th e level of power emissions can be reduced.
When the ECO m ode is set to O N , the base transmission pow er will be re duced. This feat ure is set to
OFF by default. T o switch Eco mode on:
• Press Menu (D), scroll down to “SETUP ” and press Me nu (D).
• Scroll Down to “ECO MODE” and press Menu.
• Press Up (C) or Down (J) to sele ct “ON” or “OFF” and press Menu (D) to confirm.
9.7 Set alarm
• Press Menu (D), scroll down to “DA TE-TIME” and pre ss Menu (D).
• Scroll do wn to “ALARM SET” and pr ess Menu (D).
• Press Up (C) or Down (J) to sele ct “ON” or “OFF” and press Menu (D) to confirm.
• If ON is selected, ente r the time in 24 ho ur format and press Menu (D) to confirm.
10 Caller ID and the Calls list
This service only works when you ha ve a caller ID/Clip subscription. Please cont act your telephone
company .
If the calle r’s number is stored in the phonebook, the name assi gned to it w ill be displayed. T o ensure
that, make sure the full telephone numb er , including the area code is stored in the phon ebook.
10.1 Calls list
The Calls list stores de tails of the last 40 received call s, including the phone number and dat e and time of
the call.
The caller’s det ails are stor ed in the cal l list whethe r or not the call has been an swered.
When the memory is full, the new calls autom atically replace the oldest calls in the memory.
When a new call is received in the call li st, icon will flash on the display in standby mode. Wh en the
new call has been viewed, icon disap pears but icon will rema in.
10.2 View the Calls list
In stand- by:
• Press Down (J) to open the Calls list. If there are no calls in the list, the display shows “E M PTY”.
• Press Up (C) or Down ( J) to scroll through the list. Press T alk (E) to dial the d isplayed entry .
• If the call was answer ed, icon is displayed wh en the entry is view ed. If the call was un answered,
icon is displayed when the entry is viewe d. When the end of the list is reached, the handset will
beep.
• If the caller’s number exa ctly matches an entry stored in the phonebook, the display will show the
caller's name. Press Menu (D) to see th e caller’s number .
• .If the telephon e number is longer t han 12 digit s, icon is di splayed. Press Menu (D) to see the
remaining digits.
• Press Menu (D) again to see the time and d ate of the call.
• Press Menu (D) again to access the option to store the en try in the pho nebook.
10.3 Copy a call li st number to the phonebook
When the call number is displ ayed:
• Press Menu (D) repeatedly until the displ ay shows “ADD ?” .
• Press Menu (D) again. The di splay shows “NAME?”.
• Enter the na me and press Men u (D). The number is displa yed.
• Edit the numbe r if necessary , then press Menu (D).
• Press up (C) or dow n (J) to select the require d ringer melody an d press Menu (D). The num ber is
stored.
10.4 Delete an entry
• When the call number is d isplayed, press Phoneb ook. The display shows “D ELETE ?”.
• Press Menu (D) to confirm or Phoneboo k to cancel.
10.5 Delete the entire Calls list
1. Press down (J) to open the Calls list.
2. Press and hold Phoneboo k. The displa y shows “DELETE ALL ?” .
3. Press Menu to confirm or Ph onebook to cancel.

2.1 Installeren van het ba sisst ation (afbeelding 1)
