EXT DC IN AND CHARGER (External Power Connector) (13)
Provides connection for external power or charger (either standard 240VAC
wall charger or optional 12VDC operation cord).

Accepts flexible antenna.
4. Operation
4.1. Receiving
Install the antenna on the radio
Press the POWER “ON/OFF” Button to turn the Radio on. The display will
show the last channel the transceiver was on before power was turned off.
Note:The battery pack should be fully charged before using the radio.
Refer to page 31 for battery charging information.
Press the “UP” or “DN” key to select the desired channel. Refer to the chan-
nel chart at the back of this manual for available channels.
To lock the channel in the operating mode so that it is not accidentally changed,
press the “V/L” KEY for 2 seconds. This locks the “UP”/“DN” key and all the
keys on the front of the radio, with the exception of the Power “ON/OFF
”Button key and S/D (backlight). Press the “V/L” KEY for 2 seconds again to
unlock the channel.
Press “V/L” key to enter the Volume control mode, the display will show
P0~P7 which indicates the volume control position. Press “UP” or “DN” key
to select an appropriate level.
Press “S/D” KEY to enter SQUELCH CONTROL mode, the display will show
L0~L4 which indicates the SQUELCH level. Press “DN” key to select a level
at which background noise is heard.
Adjust the SQUELCH level to the threshold point where background noise
disappears.
When a message is received, adjust the volume level to the desired listening
level as above. The “TX/RX” (BUSY) LED will light green to indicate that the
channel is busy.
4.2. Scanning
Select a desired channel to be scanned by using the “UP” or “DN” key.
Press the “SCN” key to start scanning the desired channel and Channel 16.
