5 GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY WARNINGS
Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow all warnings and instructions
may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for
future reference. The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains operated (corded)
power tool or battery operated (cordless) power tool.
5.1 Work area
Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents.
Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of
flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or
fumes.
Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause
you to lose control.
5.2 Electrical safety
Always check that the power supply corresponds to the voltage on the
rating plate.
Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any
adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching
outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges
and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or
grounded.
Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will
increase the risk of electric shock.
Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power
tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled
cords increase the risk of electric shock.
When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use.
Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device
(RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
5.3 Personal safety
Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power
tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or
medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious
personal injury.
Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment such as dust mask,
non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used whenever conditions require
will reduce personal injuries.

Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the off position before plugging in.
Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in power tools that have
the switch on invites accidents.
Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key
left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better
control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and
gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in
moving parts.
If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure
these are connected and properly used. Use of these devices can reduce dust related
hazards.
5.4 Power tool use and care
Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct
power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that
cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing
accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of
starting the power tool accidentally.
Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with
the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous
in the hands of untrained users.
Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or sticking of moving parts, breakage of
parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have
the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained
power tools.
Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting
edges are less likely to stick and are easier to control.
Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc., in accordance with these instructions
and in the manner intended for the particular type of power tool, taking into account the
working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations
different from intended could lead to a hazardous situation.
5.5 Service
Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical
replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
6 ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Always keep one hand on the auxiliary handle and the other on the motor housing.
Keep your body positioned to either side of the saw blade, but not in line with the saw
blade.
Do not reach under the material being cut.
Do not attempt to remove cut material when the blade is running.
Never clamp or tie the lower guard into the open position.
Do not use any blades other than the DUALSAW blades especially designed for this tool.
The lower guard should be retracted manually only for making special cuts such as
‘pocket cuts’ and ‘compound cuts’.
Never hold the piece being cut in your hands or across your leg.
Never attempt to operate saw with only one blade. Kickback will occur and send the saw
towards you resulting in serious injury.

If the blades come in contact with the work piece before they reach full speed, it could
cause the saw to kickback toward you resulting in serious injury.
7 ASSEMBLY
7.1 Attaching the handle
Screw handle into saw (fig 1).
Use nut to tighten the handle.
7.2 Removing the blades
Be sure to first unplug the electric cord from the electrical outlet and allow
blades to cool before removing the blades.
Push the spindle lock to secure the blade (Fig 2).
Use the blade wrench to unscrew the lock nut (Fig 3).
Remove lock nut from the blade (Fig 4).
Open lower guard of the blade (Fig 5).
Lift up and remove “Face B” blade (Fig 6).
Lift up and remove “Face A” blade (Fig 7).
7.3 Attaching the blades
Identify “Face A” and “Face B” on your new set of DUALSAW blades (Fig 8).
Open lower guard and place “Face A” blade on saw and fit on the outer arbor shaft (Fig 9).
Place “Face B” blade on top of “Face A” blade and fit on inner arbor shaft (Fig 10).
Place lock nut onto shaft (Fig 11).
Tighten lock nut using blade wrench tool (Fig. 12).
8 OPERATION
8.1 Operating the saw
Push lock button and press the on/off trigger. Always let the blades reach full speed before
you begin to cut into the work piece.
Apply steady and even pressure when making a cut. Forcing the saw causes rough cuts
and could shorten the life of the saw or cause kickback.
Always feed material parallel to the blade. Feeding at an angle can burn the blade and
damage the blade teeth.
To stop the saw, release trigger.
8.2 Switching ON/OFF
To turn on the machine, push the ON/OFF switch in the ON position.
To turn the machine off, push the ON/OFF switch into the OFF position.
Inrush currents can cause short-time voltage drops; under unfavorable power supply
conditions, other equipment may be affected (if the system impedance of the power supply
is lower than 0,127 + j0,079 Ohm, disturbances are unlikely to occur); if you need further
clarification, you may contact your local power supplier.
8.3 Feed speed
Feed speed is how quickly you push the saw blades through the material being cut. The
correct feed speed is totally determined by the hardness and the thickness of the material
being cut.
If the feed speed is too slow the blades will only press down the material rather then cutting it.
The blade edges glide an wear down the material, what causes a poor cut and will cause
excessive wear on the blades.
POWX0682 EN
Copyright © 2014 VARO P a g e | 7 www.varo.com
If the feed speed is too fast there is a definitive risk that the cut might split. The splinter will get
bigger and bigger and eventually break risking serious personal injury.
If the feed speed is too high there is risk that the cut might split and the splintering opening’s
volume will not be sufficient to divert all shaving. The result is poor cut with significant
discharge on the lower side of the material.
8.4 nstruction for cutting various cross sectional materials
Flat strip:
Move blades in a 90° angle across the piece.
Soft metals:
Apply lubrication sticks.
Square tube:
Move blades in diagonal.
U profile:
Move blades in diagonal.
Round tube:
Move blades through the piece making sure
they come out in a 90° angle.
Sheets::
Slide blades through the sheet.
8.5 Lubricant instructions
To become a longer blade life time, lubrication of the blades is necessary, especially when
cutting aluminium, copper, stainless steel and cast iron:
Place the wax stick into the foreseen hole.
POWX0682 EN

Turn the feeder wheel to lubricate the blades.
Proper dosage is required.
8.6 Dust extraction
Attach a vacuum cleaner to the dust extraction outlet.
Ask your vacuum distributor for the correct connection piece if it isn’t included.
9 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Attention! Before performing any work on the equipment, pull the power
plug.
9.1 Cleaning
Keep the ventilation slots of the machine clean to prevent overheating of the engine.
Regularly clean the machine housing with a soft cloth, preferably after each use.
Keep the ventilation slots free from dust and dirt.
If the dirt does not come off use a soft cloth moistened with soapy water.
Never use solvents such as petrol, alcohol, ammonia water, etc. These
solvents may damage the plastic parts.
9.2 Checking and replacing the carbon brushes
The carbon brushes must be checked on a regular basis.
In case of wear, replace both carbon brushes at the same time.
Mount the carbon brush holders.
After mounting new carbon brushes, let the machine run at no load for 15 minutes.
Use only the correct type of carbon brushes.
