PENTAGRAM horNet Wi-Fi PCI [P 6121-L7]
Troubleshooting
This section shows solutions for problems which may occur when installing and operating the
PCI wireless adapter. Read the description below to solve problems.
1. The PCI adapter operates incorrectly.
• Remove adapter from computer's PCI port and install it again taking safety precautions
into consideration.
• Right-click the My Computer icon and select Properties. Select the Device Manager and
find the network adapter. Make sure the adapter is correctly installed in the system. If
you see a yellow exclamation mark, there is a resource conflict. Check the adapter status.
If you see a yellow question mark, perform the following steps.
• Make sure there is an available IRQ (Interrupt Request) in your computer.
• Make sure you have installed the appropriate adapter and driver. If the adapter does
not work despite the steps above, remove it and:
• Uninstall the driver from the computer.
• Restart the computer, install the hardware and software again, according to the
description in this manual.
2. Communication with other computers via Ethernet network is impossible in infrastructure
mode.
• Make sure the computer associated with the adapter is on.
• Make sure the adapter is configured for operation on the same channel, with the same
security options as other computers operating in infrastructure mode.
3. What to do if the adapter-equipped computer cannot establish link with a wireless network
and/or the Internet?
• Make sure that the LEDs on the service provider’s modem indicate normal operating
mode. If not, there might be a problem with the modem.
• Make sure that the LEDs on the access point or router operate normally. If not, make sure
they are connected to the mains and the Ethernet network cables are connected
securely.
• Make sure the IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS settings are properly
configured for the given network.
• In infrastructure mode, make sure the SSID is identical for clients and access points.
• In Ad-Hoc mode, both computers must have the same SSID. It may be necessary for one
of the clients to establish a wireless clients' logical group (BBS). Wait a moment for
synchronization of settings between all the clients. It helps you avoid establishing
several BSS groups by different computers at the same time. It might lead to the
occurrence of several independent BBS groups instead of one joining many clients.
• Make sure the connection with the wireless network is configured correctly.
• If data encryption is enabled, make sure the appropriate keys have been entered both in
the adapter and access point configuration.
