Installing the Batteries
1. Make sure your radio is OFF .
2. T o remove the batte ry compartment door , press the tab at the
bottom of the compartment door . Remove the door . Insert three
AAA batt eries into the battery compartment.
3. Replace the battery compart ment door .

Press and hold the MENU/ button to turn your radio ON/ OFF .
Adjustin g the V o lume
Adjust the volume by pressing the and buttons.
T alking and List ening
All radios in your gro up must be set to the same chann el in order to
communicate.
1. Hold your radio 2 to 3 cm from your mouth.
2. Press and hold the PTT button while speaking. The T ransmit
icon appears on the display .
3. Release the PTT button. Y ou can now receive incoming calls. When
you do, the Receive icon appears on the display .
For maximum clarity , hold the radio 2 to 3 cm away and avoid covering
the microphone while talking.
T alk Range
Y our radio is designed to maximize performance and improve
transmission range. Ensure the radios are at least 5 feet apart when in
used.
Push-to-T alk T ime-Out Timer
T o prevent accidental transmissions and save battery life, the radio
emits a continuous warning tone and stops t ransmitting if you press
the PTT button for 60 seconds continuously .
Menu Options
Selecting the Channel
The radio uses channel as the frequency to transmit.
1. Press Men u until the chan nel number start s to flash.
2. Press or to change the chann el. Long press on these keys
allows you to scroll through the ch annels rapidly to browse the
codes.
3. Press PTT button to exit menu or Menu to continue set up.
Note: Y our radio has eight chann els by default. In co untries where 16 channels
are allowed, yo u can activate Ch annels 9 to 16 with the follo wing steps:
1. Press Menu until the channel number star ts to flash.
2. Press and hold down and simultaneously for 3 seconds
until you he ar a beep an d “16” is displ ayed briefly .
*Channels 9 to 16 are not al lowed in Russia.
Sub-Code
This radio does not have sub-cod e feature. When using this rad io with
radio models that use sub-code, p lease make sure the radios with
sub-code have their sub-code di sabled. Set su b-code to Zero.
Call T ones
Y our radio is equipped with a call ton e. T o tran smit a call tone, press
/ button.
Keypad T ones
Y ou may enable or disable the keypad t ones. Y ou will hear the keypad
each time a button i s pushed.
1. Press and hold the button, while turning the radio ON, it turns the
keypad tone OFF .
2. T o turn the Keypad T one ON, turn t he radio OFF and ON again
without pressing the button.
Roger T one
Y ou can set your radio to tra nsmit a unique tone when yo u finish
transmitting. It is l ike saying “Roger” or “Over ” to let others know you
have finished t alking.
1. Press and hold button while turning the r adio ON, it turns the
Roger T one OFF .
2. T urn the radio OFF an d ON again without pre ssing the button to
turn the Roger T one ON.
Keypad Lock
T o av oid accidentally cha nging your radio settings:
1. Press and hold / Key Lock until the Key Lock Indicator icon
displays.
2. Y ou can turn the radio on and of f, adjust the vo lume, receive,
transmit, send a ca ll tone, when in the lock mode. All other
functions rem ain locked.
3. Press / Key Lock and hold until the Key Lock Indi cator is no
longer displayed to unlock the rad io.
Channel Scan Mode
Enables your radio to sca n for active channels. Wh en an activity is
detected, your r adio lands (stays) on that channel for 2 seco nds. T o
transmit on that chan nel, press the PTT button. When an activity on
the landed channel ends, your radio continues scann ing other
channels.
T o turn the channel scan ON:
1. MENU/ to enter menu. Advance until blinks.
2. / button to turn ON channel scan.
MENU/ o r PTT to turn OFF Scan mode.
Monitor Mode
Enables you to listen for weak signals on the current channel.
T o turn the Monitor Mode ON:
1. MENU / button to en ter menu. Advance through the menu until
icon blinks.
2. Press the / button for continuous listening. The icon continues
to blink.
T o turn the Monitor Mode OFF:
Press the MENU / button to return t o “Normal” mode. The icon
stops blinking.
Easy Pairing
This feature allows a group of r adio users to program all their radios to
the same Channel and Sub- Code settings quickly and simultaneo usly .
Any one radio with in the group can be designated as the “Leader’s
radio” and have it’ s Channel and Sub-Code settings transmit ted to and
copied by all the other radios in the group (Memb ers’ rad ios).
Note:
• When the leader radio ha s no sub-code feat ure, such as this ra dio (T42),
all radios in the group will have their sub-code set to 0 (Disable). When the
sub-code is set to 0, all transmissions on the sele cted channel will be
heard, regar dless of the tran smitting radi o sub-code set ting.
1. Pick any one of the radios as the “Leader’s radio”. On thi s radio,
program the Channel and Sub-Code to t he desired settings. See
“Selecting the Channe l” and “Selecting the Sub- Code” sections in
this user manual. The sub-code for T42 radio is fixed at zer o and
cannot be programmed.
2. T o copy the channel and Sub-Code combination to all t he other
“Members’ radios”, press and hol d the button on the Members’
radios until you hear a beep. Relea se the butto n after the b eep,
and wait for the transmission from th e Leader’s radio.
Note:
• Y ou will see the icon blinking on the display . This confirms that the radio
is in Easy Pairing mode waitin g to receive the Channel and S ub-Code
settings from the Leader ’s radio. All Mem bers’ radios will remain in this
mode for 3 minute s.
• A gro up with many radios sho uld have all users take thi s step at the same
time, so all radi os can be programme d in one go.
3. On the Leader’s radio, press and hold down the button until you
hear a double be ep.
Note:
• At the double beep , this radio’s Channel and Sub-Code settings will be
transmitted, which will be r eceived and copied by al l the other (Member s’)
radios.
• The Leader’s radio must make t his transmission when all the Me mbers’
radios are still in the Ea sy Pairing mode, othe rwise the transmission will not
be picke d up.
• On the Leader’s radi o, user must remembe r not to rel ease the but ton on
the firs t (single) bee p, otherwi se this radio will become another Me mber’s
radio. If that happe ns, you can press PTT to escape, and retry th e steps
described in #3 again.
• If th e Leader ’s radio is set to a ch annel betwee n 9 and 16, please en sure
that all Members’ radios have channels 9 to 16 activa ted.
• When a Member’s radio with onl y eight Channels i s being Easy-Pai red by a
Leader’s radio on Channel 9 or above, Easy-Pai ring wi ll fa il , in d ic at ed b y
three short beeps, and “rr” is displayed briefly.
• When the Leader’s radi o does not ha ve sub-code fea ture, all members’
radios will have their sub-cod e set to zero (Disable). When a ra dio sub-
code is set to zero, all transmissions rece ived on the channel will be sent to
the speaker , reg ardless of the sub-code embedded in the transmission.
• This radio (T42) doe s not have sub-co de feature an d is not compat ible with
radios with sub -code enabled. Pl ease ensure all r adios in the gr oup have
their sub- code disabl ed (Sub-code is set to Zero) . With Easy p airing, eit her
use T42 as the lead er , or ask the L eader to set sub-code t o zero befor e
performing easy pairing.
W arranty Information
The authorized Motorola Solut ions dealer or retailer where you
purchased your Motorola Solu tions two-way radio and/or original
accessories will honour a warranty claim and/ or provide warranty
service.
Please return your radio to your d ealer or reta iler to claim your
warranty service. Do not return your ra dio to Motorola Solutions.
In order to be eligible to receive warranty service, you must present
your receipt of purchase or a compar able substitute proof of purchase
bearing the date of purchase. The two-way ra dio should also clea rly
display the serial number . The warranty will not apply if t he type or
serial numbers on the product have been altered, delete d, removed,
or made illegible.
What Is Not Covered By The W arranty
• Defects or damage resulting from use of the Pro duct in other
than its normal and customary manner or by not following the
instructions in this use r manual.
• De fects of damage fro m misuse, accident or n eglect.
• De fects of damage from improper test ing, operation,
maintenance, adjustment, or any alt eration or mod ification of
any kind.
• Breakag e or damage to aerials unless caused di rectly by defects
in material or workmanship.
• Produ cts disassembled or repaired in such a mann er as to
adversely affe ct performance or prevent ad equate inspectio n
and testing to ve rify any warranty claim.

• De fects or damage due to moisture, liquid or spills.
• All plastic surfaces and all othe r externally exposed parts that
are scratched or damaged due to n ormal use.

2. Du kan fjerne dækslet til batterirummet ved at trykke på tappen nederst
på dækslet. Fjern dæksle t. Isæt tre AAA-batterier i batterirum met.
3. Sæt dækslet til batte rirummet tilbage på p lads.

T ryk på knappen MENU/ , og hold den n ede for at TÆNDE/SLUKKE
radioen.
Justering af lydstyrken
Juster lydstyrken ved at tr ykke på knapperne og .
T ale og lytte
Alle radioer i din gruppe skal være indstillet til samme kanal for at
kunne kommunikere.
1. Hold radioen 2 -3 cm fra munde n.
2. T ryk på knappen PTT , og hold de n nede, mens du tal er . Ikonet for
Transmission vises på skærmen.
3. Slip knappen PTT . Du kan nu modtage indgåen de opkald. Når du
gør det, vises ikonet for Modtag på skærmen.
For at få den bedste lydkvalitet skal du ho lde radioen 2 til 3 cm væk og
undgå at dække mikrofonen, mens du taler .
Rækkevidde for tale
Radioen er designet til at maksi mere ydeevnen og forbedre
transmissionsrækkevidden. Sørg for , at radioerne er mindst 5 meter
fra hinanden, når de anvendes.
Push-to-T alk timer for timeout
For at forhindre utilsigtede transmissioner og for at spare bat teritid,
udsender radioen en kont inuerlig advarse lstone og standser
transmissionen, hvis du trykker p å knappen PTT kontinuerligt i 60
sekunder .
Menuindstil linger

Radioen bruger kanal som frekvensen for at tran smittere.

tastelåsindikator vises.
2. Du kan tænde og sl ukke radioen, i ndstille lydstyrken, modtage,
transmittere og sende en opkaldstone i låst tilstand. Alle andre
funktioner forbliver låst.
3. T ryk på / T astelås, og hold den nede, indtil ikonet for
