On the bottom of the equipment is a label indicating,
among other information, the US number and Ringer
Equivalenc e Number (REN) for the equipment. Y ou
must, upon reques t, provide this informa tion to your
telephone compan y .
The REN is useful in determining the number of
devic es you may connect t o your telephone line
and still hav e all of these devices ring when y our
telephone number is called. In most (but not all)
areas, the sum of the RENs of all de vices connected
to one line should not e xceed 5. T o be certain of the
number of devic es you may connect t o your line as
determined b y the REN, you should contact y our
local telephone compan y .
A plug and jack used to connect this equipment t o
the premises wiring and t elephone network must
comply with the applicable FC C Part 68 rules and
requir ements adopted by the A CT A. A compliant
telephone cor d and modular plug is provided with
this product. It is designed t o be connected to a
compatible modular jack that is also c ompliant. See
installation instructions for details.

Rights of the T elephone Company
Should your equipment cause tr ouble on your
line which may harm the telephone netw ork, the
telephone compan y shall, where practicable, notify
you that t emporary discontinuance of servic e may
be requir ed. Where prior notice is not pr acticable
and the circums tances warrant such action, the
telephone compan y may temporarily disc ontinue
service immediately . In case of such temporary
discontinuance , the telephone company must:
(1) promptly notify y ou of such temporary
discontinuance;
(2) aor d you the opportunity to corr ect the
situation; and
(3) inform y ou of your right to bring a c omplaint

2 Introduction
Y our Motor ola multi-line / 2-line phone is a full-
featur ed phone ideally suited for home or oce use.
It is designed to r eceive calls on up to tw o incoming
telephone lines and serv e up to 10 extensions with
the Motor ola ML25254 or ML25255 systems. T he
Motor ola ML25055 Cordless Handset will e xpand the
Motor ola multi-line phone system oper ating in the
DECT 6.0 frequency r ange.
Caution: When installing and using
telephone equipment, ther e are basic
safety instructions that should alw ays be

3 Important Safety Instructions
Some of the following inf ormation may not apply
to y our particular product; how ever , when using

Certain other communications de vices may also
use the 1.9 GHz frequency for communica tion, and,
if not properly set, these devic es may interfere

the owner’s manual for these de vices on how to
properly set channels to a void interference . T ypical

6.3 Installing the Phone
6.3. 1 Installing the Handset Battery
Y ou must connect the handset batt ery before use.
1. Locate batt ery which is packaged inside a plastic
bag and is separat e from the handset.
2. Locate the batt ery compartment on the back of
the handset.
3. Plug the battery pack c ord into the jack inside
the compartment. Pr essing down firmly .
4. Insert the battery pack. T o ensure pr oper battery
installation, the connect or is key ed and can be
inserted only one wa y .
5. Close the battery c ompartment by placing the
handset back co ver slightly higher than the
handset and then sliding the co ver down
into position.
6. Place the handset in the charging cr adle. The
charge indicat or illuminates, verifying the batt ery
is charging.
Allow the phone t o charge for 14 hours prior to
first use. If y ou don’t properly charge the phone,
battery performanc e is compromised.
Caution: T o reduce the risk of fire or
personal injury , use only the approv ed
Nickel-metal Hy dride (Ni-MH) battery pack
(2.4V , 550mAh rechargeable batt eries)
supplied.
6.3.2 Changing / Charging the Handset Battery
1. Plug the pow er supply cord into the po wer jack
on the back of the charging cr adle and the other
end into an electrical outlet.
2. Make sur e the handset is OFF (not in T ALK
mode) bef ore you r eplace battery .
3. Remo ve the battery c ompartment door .
4. Disconnect the battery pack c onnector from the
jack inside the compartment and r emove the
battery pack fr om the handset.
5. Insert the ne w battery pack and plug the
battery pack connect or to the jack inside the
compartment.
6. Put the battery compartment door back on.
7. Place handset in the char ging cradle, the charge
indicator illuminat es, verifying the battery
is charging.
Allow the phone t o charge for 14 hours prior to
first use. If y ou don’t properly charge the phone,
battery performanc e is compromised.

fire, or damage use only the char ger power

The wall mount holes ar e located on back of the
handset charging cr adle and no extra w all mount
pedestalis needed. Simply slip the wall mounting
holes on the back of the charging cr adle over
the wall plat e posts (not included) and slide the
charging cr adle down into the place . Use ONL Y UL
appro ved wall pla te.

8. Do not a ttempt to rejuv enate the battery(ies )
pro vided with or identified for use with this
product b y heating them. Sudden release of the
battery(ies ) electrolyte may oc cur causing burns
or irritation to e yes or skin.
9. W hen replacing battery(ies), all batt eries should
be replac ed at the same time. Mixing fresh and
discharged batt eries could increase internal c ell
pressur e and rupture the discharged batt ery(ies).

separat ely replaceable primary battery .)
10. When inserting battery(ies ) into this product, the
proper polarity or dir ection must be observed.
Rev erse insertion of battery(ies) ma y result in
leakage or e xplosion.
11. When inserting battery(ies ) into this product,
do not twist or pinch the wires or allo w wires to
become pinched in battery door .
12. If storing ov er 30 days, r emov e battery(ies) from
this product because the batt ery(ies) could leak
and damage the product.
13. Discard “dead” batt ery(ies) as soon as possible
since “dead” batt eries are more lik ely to leak in
a product.
14. Do not stor e this product, or the battery(ies )
pro vided with or identified for use with this
product, in high-t emperature ar eas. Batteries
that are s tored in a free zer or refrigera tor for
the purpose of ext ending shelf life should be
prot ected from condensation during st orage and
defrosting. Ba tteries should be stabilized at room
temper ature prior to use after c old storage.
15. If your pr oduct uses rechargeable battery(ies ),
charge the batt ery(ies) only in accor dance with
the instructions and limitation specified in the
User Guide.

• Nev er install telephone wiring during a
lightning storm.
• Nev er install telephone jacks in w et locations
unless the jack is specifically designed for
wet locations.
• Nev er touch uninsulated telephone wir es
or terminals unless the t elephone line is
disconnected fr om the network.
• Use caution when installing or modifying
telephone lines.
• T emporarily disconnect any other equipment
connected t o the telephone.

Handset
1. Press t and the phone will select the firs t
av ailable line. If both lines are av ailable, Line 1 will
be used first.

8.2 Making Calls with the Speakerphone

8.3 Making Calls with a Wired Headset
1. Plug the headset into the Headset jack on the
side of the handset.
2. Adjust the headset t o rest comf ortably on top of
your head or o ver y our ear .
3. Mo ve the microphone t o approximat ely 2 to
3 inches from y our mouth.
4. Press t and the phone will select the firs t
av ailable line. If both lines are av ailable, Line 1 will
be used first.

If the headset is not connected (or if not complet ely
inserted into headset jack), pressing t will ent er the
receiv er talk mode.
Although this device will ac cept a variety of standard
2.5mm telephone headsets, Motorola does not
guarantee c ompatibility with third party devices.
Performance ma y vary depending on the quality of
the headset.
8.4 Pre-dialing
1. With the phone idle, manually ent er the
telephone number . The telephone number will
show in the displa y . The maximum pre-dialing
number length is 32 digits, if the number is ov er
32 digits, it will emit an error t one.
