GENERAL SAFETY
1. UsethischargerforchargingLEAD-ACIDbatteriesonly .
Donotusethebatterychargerforothertypesofbatteriesornon-rechargeable
batteries, as these may burst and cause injury to persons and damage to property .
2. Only use an output socket with a rated voltage of DC12V and a rated current less than
12A to supply power to the appliance.
3. Onlyuseattachmentsrecommendedorsoldbythemanufacturer .Useofnon-
recommendedattachmentsmayresultinre,electricshock,orinjury .
4. When disconnecting the battery charger, do not pull the plug out by the cord. Pulling on
the cord may cause damage to the cord or plug .
5. Do not operate the charger with a damaged cord or plug. Have the cord replaced
immediately .
6. Do not operate the charger if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped , or if it has

9. Do not use an extension cord unless it is absolutely necessary . Use of an improper

cord must be used, make sure that:

10. Always charge the battery in a well ventilated area. NEVER operate in a closed area or
withoutadequateventilation.WARNING:Riskof

18. NEVER crank the engine with charger attached to battery .
PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS AND SAFETY
1. WARNING:W earcompleteeyeprotectionandprotectiveclotheswhenworkingwith
lead-acidbatteries.
2. Make sure someone is within range of your voice or close enough to come to your aid
whenyouworkwithornearalead-acidbattery .
3. Have plenty of fresh water and soap nearby for use if battery acid contacts skin,
clothing,oreyes.Ifbatteryacidcontactsskinorclothing,washitimmediatelywithsoap
and water .
4. Avoid touching your eyes while working with a battery . Acid particles (corrosion) may
getintoyoureyes!Ifacidentersyoureye,immediatelyoodeyewithrunningcold
waterforatleast10minutes.Getmedicalattentionimmediately .
5. Remove all personal metal items such as rings, bracelets, necklaces, and watches
whenworkingwithalead-acidbattery . A lead-acidbatterycanproduceashort-circuit
current high enough to weld a ring (or the like) to metal, causing a severe burns.
6. T ake care not to drop a metal tool or other metal onto the battery . Metal may cause
sparking,ormayshort-circuitthebatteryoranotherelectricaldevise.Sparkingmay
cause an explosion.
7. Alwaysoperatethebatterychargerinanopen,well-ventilatedarea.
8. NEVERsmokeorallowasparkorameinthevicinityofthebatteryorengine.

b) Car: The maximum charging current is 2.5Amp, tp recharge a 12V battery in a regular

c) Tractor : The maximum charging current is 3.5Amp, to recharge a 12V battery in a
tractor .
d) V an : The maximum charging current is 4Amp, to recharge a 12V battery in vans and
SUVs.
e) Fast Charge : T o recharge all 12V lead acid battery; it gives a 4.5Amp pulse charging
current.

1. Connect the charger to your battery , then connect to main AC power supply .
2. Select the charge rate.
3. Leave the charger on.
4. Monitor the battery from time to time
Note: A clicking sound may occur during this process; this is normal.

PREP ARING T O CHARGE
1. Determine the voltage of your battery by referring to the car’s owners manual.
2. Ifitisnecessarytoremovethebatteryfromthevehicletochargeit,ortocleanthe
terminals,alwaysremovethegroundedterminalfromthebatteryrst.Makesureall
accessories in the vehicle are off, so as not to cause an arc.
3. Clean the battery terminals. Be careful to keep corrosion from coming in contact with
eyes.
4. Adddistilledwatertoeachcelluntilbatteryacidreachesthelevelspeciedbythe
batterymanufacturer .Thishelpspurgeexcessgasfromcells.Donotoverll.Fora
battery without cell caps, carefully follow the manufacturer’s recharging instructions.
5. Studyallofthebatterymanufacturer’sspecicprecautions,suchasremovingornot
removing cell caps while charging, and recommended rates of charge.
6. Be sure that the area around the battery is well ventilated while the battery is charging.
Gascanbeforcefullyblownawaybyusingapieceofcardboardoranothernonmetallic
material such as a fan.
7. Make sure the initial charging rate is not greater than the battery manufacturer ’s
suggestion.
OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS: CHARGING BA TTERY IN VEHICLE
1. Position AC and DC cords to reduce the risk of damage by hood, door , or moving
engine part.
2. Stay clear of fan blades, belts, pulleys, and other vehicle parts that can cause injury . 3.
Checkthepolarityofbatteryposts.POSITIVE(POS,P ,+)
batterypostsusuallyhavelargerdiametersthanNEGA TIVE(NEG,N,-)posts.
4. Determine which battery posts are grounded (connected) to the chassis.
Ifthenegativepostisgroundedtothechassis(asinmostvehicles),connectthe
POSITIVE(RED)clipfromthebatterychargertothePOSITIVE
(P05,P ,+)ungroundedpostofbattery .ConnecttheNEGA TIVE(BLACK)cliptothe
vehicle’s chassis or engine block, away from the battery . Do not
connectthecliptothecarburetor ,fuellines,orsheet-metalbodyparts.Connecttheclipto
the heavy gauge metal part of the frame or engine block
Ifthepositivepostisgroundedtothechassis,connecttheNEGA TIVE(BLACK)clipfrom
batterychargertotheNEGA TIVE(NEG,N,-)ungroundedpostofthebattery .Connectthe
POSITIVE(RED)cliptothevehicle’schassisorengineblock,awayfrombattery .Donot
connectthecliptothecarburetor ,fuellines,orsheet-metalbodyparts.Connecttoaheavy
gauge metal part of the frame or engine block.
5. Whendisconnectingthecharger,disconnectthe ACcordrst,removetheclipfromthe
vehicle’s chassis, and then remove the clip from the battery terminal.
6. Do not charge the battery while the engine is running.
OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS: CHARGING BA TTERY OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE
When charging your battery outside of the vehicle, be sure to determine the battery type.
T o reduce the risk of a spark near the battery , follow these steps when the battery is outside
the vehicle.
WARNING: Asparknearthebatterymaycausethebatterytoexplode.
WARNING:Whenremovingthebatteryfromavehicleorboat,disconnectthegrounded
polerst.Whendisconnecting,makesureallaccessoriesareoff,soasnottocauseanarc.
NOTE: A marine (boat) battery must be removed and charged on shore. (T o charge on
board requires special equipment designed for marine use.)
WARNING:Whenreinstallingyourbattery ,attachthegroundpostrst.
1. Check the polarity of the battery posts. The polarity will be marked by each post:
POSITIVE(POS,P ,+)andNEGA TIVE(NEG,N,-).NOTE: Thepositivebatterypost
usually has a larger diameter than the negative post.
2. ConnectthePOSITIVE(RED)chargercliptothePOSITIVE(POS,P ,+)postbattery .
ConnectNEGTIVE(BLACK)chargercliptoNEGTIVE(BLACK,N,-)postbattery .
Rock the clip back and forth to make a good connection.
WARNING:Donotfacethebatterywhenmakingthenalconnection.
5. Plug the charger’s AC cord into a 220 volt main supply .
6. Switch on the charger and then select amperage (See “Controls” Section).
WARNING:Besurethattheareaaroundthebatteryiswell-ventilatedwhilethebattery
ischarging.Gascanbeforcefullyblownawaybyusingapieceofcardboardorother
nonmetallic material, such as a fan.
6. Continue charging the battery until the charger’s LCD displayer shows “FULL”.
7. Whenthebatteryisfullycharged,unplugthechargerfromthe ACpowersourcerst.
Then. (1) remove clip from Negative post, and (2) remove clip from Positive battery
post.
8. Clean and store the battery charger .
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
With only minimal maintenance, this Battery Charger will deliver years of dependable
service. Follow these simple steps to maintain the charger in optimal condition: After each
use,cleanthebatterychargerclamps-besuretoremoveanybatteryuidthatwillcause
corrosion of the copper clamps. Clean the outside case of the charger with a soft cloth and,
ifnecessary ,amildsoapsolution.Keepthechargercordslooselycoiledduringstorage
to prevent damage to the cords. Do not use the charger if cords or clamps have been
damaged in any way .
Ifthepowersupplycordisdamaged,itmustbereplacedbythemanufacturer ,it’sservice
agentoranotherqualiedpersoninordertoavoidasafetyhazard.
