3. GENERAL USE
• This pump is NOT designed for continuous opera-
tion e.g. as a swimming pool or pond circulation
pump.
• If used as an intermittent pump to circulate water in
an ornamental pond, it must be sited in a sump or
behind a suitable barrier to stop pond life being suc-
ked into it.
• Use a rope to lower the pump into deep water -
never lower the pump by its power cord or delivery
pipe at any time.
• Ensure there are no obstructions around the inlet
openings around the base of the pump. The inlet ope-
nings must be clear of mud or sludge at the bottom of
a pool.
• It would be advisable to stand the pump of a solid plat-
form at the bottom of the pool to keep it upright, if
practical to do so.
• If the pump is used to drain a swimming pool it must
only be used when the pool is completely empty of
people.
• It is important that the floating switch is allowed to
reach its ON height in the water. It must also be able
to float down without obstruction in order for it to
switch off when required.
• After use allow the pump to run using clean water for
2 - 3 minutes in order to remove residues and parti-
cles that may have accumulated in the pump and out-
let hose.
NOTE:
If the level of water becomes to low, any sludge in the
shaft will dry out more quickly and this may prevent the
pump from restarting. To ensure the pump works effi-
ciently the bottom of the shaft must be kept free of sludge
as far as possible and cleaned on a regular basis when not
in use.
