Thank you for deciding to purchase this set of high-quality body analysis scales. Please
read through this operating manual carefully before starting-up the scales for the first
time, and keep it in a safe place so that this information is available to you when you
need it.
1. How do the body analysis scales work?
With these new, revolutionary scales you will obtain information about your body
composition in terms of weight, proportion of body fat (%), proportion of body water (%),
muscle mass (%) and bone mass (in kg). Your personal data, such as sex (male or
female), age and height, must first be entered into one of the individual storage cells.
Taking a measurement is then as easy as weighing yourself on a completely normal set
of scales. You need only choose your personal storage cell, stand on the scales and
within a few seconds your current body status will be displayed for you. For measuring, a
weak current is used, which gauges the resistance. Water, which is principally stored in
the musculature, conducts very well; fat, on the other hand, does not. With reference to
the measured resistance and the stored data, the body analysis scales can calculate
your body composition very accurately.
2. How to use
A measurement should preferably be taken while you are undressed and barefoot.
Since the body is naturally subject to variations (e.g. through dehydration during sport or
after a visit to the sauna, the intake of food or fluids), it is important to take
measurements under the most consistent conditions possible, in order to obtain
comparable values.
Care should be taken to ensure that measurements are always taken at the same time of
day. In the morning, immediately after getting up, body water has still not distributed itself
throughout the body. This means that the resistance is relatively high because the
conductivity in the body is still quite poor. With increasing movement throughout the day
the water distributes itself throughout the body, the conductivity of the body increases,
the resistance and thus the proportion of fat are registered less. In order to determine the
actual change of body composition it is therefore important to measure yourself always
at the same time. The easiest way to achieve this is to take your measurements in the
morning, ¼ hour after getting up either always before or always after you go to the toilet.
Despite the minimal current strength, people with pacemakers or other implants
that transmit signals must not use these body ana lysis scales! With implants such as
a titanium plate in the knee there is no danger. Nevertheless, metals do conduct currents
extremely well, as a consequence of which the body fat value is “embellished”, thus the
actual amount of fat is higher than that displayed on the scales. Trends in body
composition can nevertheless be determined equally well. In women, periodic influences
affect the results of measurements because hormonal variations influence the water
balance of the body. If there is a lot of water in the body the fat values come out lower; if

“EEEE” = Overload indicator – the maximum capacity of the scales (180 kg) has
been exceeded. Remove the load from the scales immediately,
otherwise the load cell could incur damage.
Or: Faulty weighing or measuring process – e.g. when the scales are
not standing stably or you are not standing still on the weighing
platform.
“Lo” = Batteries are empty – please replace the batteries with the battery
type intended for your scales (4 x 1.5V AAA).
“Err” = The body fat proportion is either too low (below 5% cannot be shown)
or the body fat proportion is too high (over 50% cannot be shown).

9. Warranty
ADE guarantees the free correction of defects resulting from material or manufacturing
faults through repair or exchange 3 years from the purchase date. Please get your
warranty section filled out and stamped by the retailer when you make your purchase. In
case of warranty, please return the scales to your retailer along with the warranty section
indicating the reason for your complaint.
CE compliance. This device suppresses electromagnetic
interference in accordance with the applicable EC directive
2004/108/EG
Please note: Under extreme electromagnetic influences e.g. when operating a radio
device in immediate proximity to the scales, the indicator value may be affected. After the
disturbing influence has stopped, the product may once again be used as intended,
although a re-activation may be necessary.

The proportion of body fat gives the amount of fat as a percentage of the total weight of
the body. A blanket recommendation for this value does not exist, since this depends
significantly on sex (because of different physiques) and age. Body fat is vital for day-to-
day body function. It protects organs, cushions joints, regulates body temperature,
stores vitamins and serves the body as an energy store. For women, a body fat
proportion between 10% and 13% is essential; for men between 2% and 5% with the
exception of competitive sportsmen.
The proportion of body fat is not an unambiguous indicator of health. Excessive body
weight and a too-high proportion of body fat are being linked with the appearance of
many diseases of affluence such as diabetes, cardiovascular illnesses, etc. Physical
inactivity and poor diet are often triggers for these diseases. There is a clear causal
connection between excess weight and physical inactivity.
A considerable part of the human body consists of water. This body water is
variably distributed throughout the whole body. Lean muscle tissue contains about 75%
water, blood around 83% water, body fat approx. 25% water and bones have a water
proportion of about 22%.
In men approx. 60% of body mass consists of water. In women, that value lies around
55% (determined by a higher proportion of body fat). Of this total body water approx.
two thirds is stored in the cells and is therefore called intracellular water. The other third
is extracellular water.

For muscle mass there are no universal standard values.
there is less water, then somewhat higher. For pregnant women there is no danger to their
unborn children. Nevertheless, during pregnancy the values are so distorted by the water
retention that the measurement has little meaning.

analysis scales, nor for third-party claims. This product is intended exclusively for private
use. It is not intended for professional use in hospitals or medical institutions.
3. Start-up
Safety information:
This device is not intended for use by people (including children) with limited physical,
sensory or mental capacities or lacking experience and knowledge, except when they are
supervised by persons who are responsible for their safety or who are instructed in the
use of the device. Children should not be allowed to play with the device.
Not suitable for people with electronic implants (pacemakers,
etc.)
Place the scales on an even and firm surface (tiles,
floorboards, etc.). Use on carpeted floors may result in
incorrect measurements.
Attention! There is a danger of slipping when the surface of
the scales is wet or when your feet are wet.
Please take care not to let any objects fall onto the scales,
otherwise the glass could shatter.
Only clean the scales with a damp cloth. Do not use any
solvents or abrasive cleaning products. Do not immerse in
water.
Preparation:
Open the battery compartment cover on the underside of the scales and insert the
provided batteries (4 x 1.5V AAA). Please be mindful of the correct polarity of the batteries
(+/-).
On the underside of the scales, above the battery compartment, there is a small button for
a country-specific unit setting (kg = kilogram / lb = pound / st = stone). Please make sure
that the scales are set to the weight-unit relevant to you.

1. Programming / Inputting personal data
Prior to first use your personal data such as sex (male or female), age and height must
be entered and stored in one of the storage cells P0 – P9 (for up to 10 people). The
scales make use of highly sensitive sensor buttons (Sensor Touch). The touch keys are
located below the display. To enter your personal data use the buttons: SET (power-on
and memory button), (up button), (down button) and follow the individual
points:
1. Gently touch the SET button. “P0” will blink on the display. To choose the desired
storage cell (P0 – P9), touch the - or - button and then save by touching the SET
button.
2. After you have chosen the storage cell (e.g. storage cell P3), the symbol for sex will
blink. To choose the desired sex ( male or female), touch the - or - button
and then save by touching the SET button.
3. After you have chosen your sex (e.g. male), the indicator for age will blink on the
display (default age 30). In order to enter your age, touch the - or - button and
then save by touching the SET button.
4. After you have entered your age, the indicator for height will blink on the display
(default 170 cm). In order to enter your height, touch the - or -button and then
save by touching the SET button.
After you have finished entering your data, “0.0 kg” will appear on the display. The scales
are now ready and you can undertake a body analysis. Without further activity the scales
deactivate automatically after a few seconds. Your personal data has been saved.
If you touch the SET button again within 2 seconds after the first input, you can
immediately enter the data of other people, and for a new entry you will repeat
completely the steps mentioned above.
2. Weighing function (weight measurement only)
1. The scales have a step-on function. Simply step onto the scales, keep still and do
not hold onto anything.
2. After the scales have stabilised, your weight will be flashed at you three times in
succession and then be shown to you steadily for approximately 10 seconds.
3. After weighing, step off the scales. After a few seconds the scales will deactivate
automatically.
3. Body analysis
An analysis is only possible when you are barefoot. The personal data must be entered
beforehand (see page 4).
1. Activate the scales by touching the SET button. On the display the personal data of
the last setting will appear first. If this is not your data, choose the storage field under
which you saved your personal data using the - or -button. Your personal data will
be shown. Confirm each of these by touching the SET button, after which the scales
will return to “0.0 kg”.
2. Now stand carefully on the scales, barefoot with your feet left and right on the stainless
steel strips (measuring units), and remain still.
3. First you will be shown your weight. After that, while the body analysis is being carried
out, the signal “o” will run on the display. Remain standing still. After the measurement
has been taken the measured values will be shown to you on the display:

2. Your body water in % (TBW)
3. Your muscle mass in % (MUS)
4. Your bone mass in kg (BONE)
*** While the proportion of body fat is being shown, at the very bottom of the display
appears an evaluation:
= fat proportion too low,
= fat proportion in healthy range
= fat proportion elevated
= fat proportion too high
After that your measured values (weight, body fat, body water, muscle mass and bone
mass) will be shown to you in turn, 3 times in succession.
