Fall from the bicycle possible due to loss of control because of
wrong bicycle size. This can result in serious injuries.
- Make sure that the bike size is suitable for your height.
- Do not ride a bike that is not suitable for your height.
Determine the distance between the top tube of your bike and your crotch when you stand with your
legs slightly apart over the top tube of your bike. On a bike that you ride only on paved surfaces and
never off-road, this distance should be at least 5 centimetres. On a bike that you ride on unpaved
surfaces, this distance should be at least 7.5 centimetres. On a mountain bike that you ride in diffi-
cult terrain, this distance should be at least 10 centimetres.
Proceed as follows to determine the standover height:
- Stand with your legs apart over the top tube, directly behind the saddle of your bike, wearing
the shoes you would wear when riding.
- Shift your weight to your heels. If your crotch touches the frame, the bike is too big for you.
If your new bicycle is not the right size, contact your specialist dealer and exchange it before riding.
