Repairs to the machine should be made only by a
Xerox Service Representative or an authorized Xerox
Service Provider. is applies at any time during or
after the service warranty period. If unauthorized
repair is performed, the remainder of the warranty
period is null and void. is equipment must not be
used on party lines. Connection to party line service is
subject to state taris. Contact the state public utility
commission, public service commission or corpora-
tion commission for information. If your oce has
specially wired alarm equipment connected to the
telephone line, make sure that the installation of this
Xerox equipment does not disable your alarm equip-
ment. If you have questions about what will disable
alarm equipment, consult your Telephone Company
or a qualied installer.
CANADA
NOTE: e Industry Canada label identies certied
equipment. is warranty means that the equipment
meets certain telecommunications network protective,
operational and safety requirements as prescribed in
the appropriate Terminal Equipment Technical Re-
quirements document(s). e Department does not
guarantee the equipment will operate to the user’s sat-
isfaction. Before installing this equipment, users must
make sure that it is permissible to be connected to the
facilities of the local telecommunications company.
e equipment must also be installed using an accept-
able method of connection. e customer should be
aware that compliance with the above conditions may
not prevent degradation of service in some situations.
Repairs to certied equipment should be coordinated
by a representative designated by the supplier. Any re-
pairs or alterations made by the user to this equipment,
or equipment malfunctions, may give the telecommu-
nications company cause to request the user to discon-
nect the equipment.
Users should make sure for their own protection that
the electrical ground connections of the power utility,
telephone lines and internal metallic water pipe sys-
tems, if present, are connected together. is precau-
tion may be particularly important in rural areas.
CAUTION: Users should not attempt to make such
connections themselves, but should contact the ap-
propriate electric inspection authority, or electrician,
as appropriate.
NOTE: e Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) as-
signed to each terminal device provides an indication of
the maximum number of terminals allowed to be con-
nected to a telephone interface. e termination on an
interface may consist of any combination of devices sub-
ject only to the requirement that the sum of the Ringer
Equivalent Numbers of all of the devices does not exceed

guidelines for energy eciency. Environment Canada
established the Environmental Choice

program in
1988 to help consumers identify environmentally re-
sponsible products and services. Copier, printer, digital
press and fax products must meet energy eciency and
emissions criteria, and exhibit compatibility with re-
cycled supplies. Currently, Environmental Choice

has
more than 1600 approved products and 140 licenses.
