the seal. A proper sealing will be transparent over
the entire length. If the sealing is mottled, white
or milky or even crumpled, then it is not properly
sealed. In this case, cut off the sealing and create a
new sealing in accordance with the abovementioned
steps.Wait at least 15 seconds before you vacuum
or seal another bag.
Seal a product in a bag (without a vacuum)
Choose a bag of suitable width, not wider than
28 cm, and place your product in the bag. Open the
lid of the Wartmann
®
vacuum device and place the
open end of the bag over the black pressure strip.
Close the lid and press it lightly at both corners
until the Unlock keys are locked in their position.
The lid will be locked at both sites (left and right).
Press the Seal button to start the sealing. The Sealing
indicator light will switch on. Wait until the Sealing
indicator light goes out again.
Now press both Unlock keys and open the lid. Take
your vacuum bag out and carefully inspect the seal.
A proper sealing will be transparent over the entire
length. If the sealing is mottled, white or milky or
even crumpled, then it is not properly sealed. In this
case, cut off the sealing and create a new sealing
in accordance with the abovementioned steps.
Wait at least 15 seconds before you vacuum or seal
another bag.
Cancel the vacuum- or sealing process
An ongoing vacuum- or sealing process can be
stopped at any time by pressing the Cancel button.
Seal a moist product in a bag
Slightly moist food, such as blanched vegetables,
may require a longer time for vacuum packing.
Setting the Wartmann
®
vacuum device to “Moist”
will increase the vacuum time with 3 to 5 seconds.
The Moist button light will indicate the mode setting
of the Wartmann
®
vacuum device. The default
setting is “Dry”.
Press the Moist button one time to switch to “Moist”,
then follow the regular steps to vacuum seal a
product. Press the Moist button one more time to
return to the default “Dry” setting.
Liquids can’t be vacuum packed without taking
special precautions to avoid liquid getting into the
pump. See our tips for packaging to vacuum
liquid food.
Seal a fragile product in a bag
Fragile products may require a lower vacuum to
not get squashed. Setting the Wartmann
®
vacuum
device to “Gentle” will decrease the vacuum
pressure. This will allow for an easier control
of the vacuum. In “Gentle” mode, the vacuum
pressure will be less and sealing time will be
shorter than in “Normal” mode. The Gentle
button light will indicate the mode setting of
the Wartmann
®
vacuum device. The default
setting is “Normal”.
Press the Gentle button one time to switch to
“Gentle”, then follow the regular steps to vacuum
seal a product. Press the Gentle button one more
time to return to the default “Normal” setting.
Tips for packaging
Pack the food as freshly as possible. By means of
vacuum-packaging, the freshness of the food can
be retained up to ve times longer, compared with
food that is stored under regular circumstances.
Delicate and liquid food, as well as food of which
the shape should be retained, must rst be frozen.
Food such as meat, berries and bread can be
frozen up to 24 hours before freezer burn starts.
As soon as the food is solid, you can vacuum pack
and deep-freeze it.
If you choose to package meat without freezing
it rst, then place a folded paper towel between
the meat and the top of the bag. This will
absorb moisture.
Firstly, freeze liquid food, such as soups, stews and
casseroles in, for instance, an oven dish. As soon
as they are frozen, they are ready for vacuum-
packaging, marking and storage in the freezer.
Cover sharp points and edges of products such as
bones, pasta and rice rst, using a paper towel.
