Locking the vehicle:
Manually lock entire vehicle using
the key in driver’s door.
To lock entire vehicle using remote
control press button e.
Anti-theft locking system:
To activate: Press button e on
remote control twice.
Warning: Do not use this system if
there are people in the vehicle, as
the doors cannot be unlocked from
inside.
Electronic immobiliser:
The immobiliser is automatically
activated when the key is turned to
the LOCK position and removed
from the ignition switch.
The immobiliser does not lock the
doors. Therefore, after leaving the
vehicle, always lock it.
Opening the tailgate:
To open the tailgate, press the
button below the handle after
unlocking the vehicle.
Unlocking the vehicle:
Turn key once to manually unlock
the doors.
To unlock all doors, press button
Ä on remote control. Press button
Å to unlock rear doors / load
compartment only.
Vehicle security
Demisting and defrosting the
windows:
Set the air recirculation mode
4 off.
Set the temperature control to
the warmest level.
Switch cooling n on.
Set the air distribution control to
V.
Set the fan speed to the highest
level.
Switch heated rear window Ü
on.
Air conditioning:
Set the air recirculation mode
4
on.
Set the temperature control to
the coolest level.
Switch cooling n on.
Set the air distribution control to
M.
Set the fan speed to the highest
level.
Starting the engine:
Turn key to MAR position
Move steering wheel slightly to
release steering wheel lock
Manual transmission in neutral
with clutch depressed
Do not accelerate
Diesel engines: turn key to
position MAR for preheating
and wait for ! to extinguish
Turn key to AVV position and
release when engine is running
Turn the key to MAR position and
rotate steering wheel slightly to
release lock.
Stop-start system:
The stop-start system helps to save
fuel and reduce exhaust emissions,
and is available as soon as the
engine is started.
Stop-start system activation:
If the vehicle is at low speed or in
standstill, activate an Autostop as
follows:
1. Depress the clutch pedal.
2. Shift the selector lever to N.
3. Release the clutch pedal.
The engine will be switched off
while the ignition stays on.
Autostop is indicated when ^
illuminates in the instrument
cluster.
To restart the engine, depress the
clutch pedal again.
Stop-start system deactivation:
Deactivate the stop-start system
manually by pressing the button in
the centre console. LED in the
button illuminates when the system
is deactivated.
Refuelling:
Before refuelling, switch off engine
and any external heaters with
combustion chambers.
Switch off mobile phones.
Unlock the fuel filler cap and turn
anti-clockwise to remove.
Wipe off any overflowing fuel
immediately.
Petrol engines - use unleaded fuel
that complies with DIN EN 228.
Diesel engines - use fuel that
complies with DIN EN 590.
Fuel tank capacity - 60 litres.
Caution:
Do not open the sliding side door
with the fuel filler flap open.
Opening the bonnet:
Pull release lever below instrument
panel on driver’s side and return it
to its original position.
Push the safety catch and open the
bonnet.
Secure the bonnet support.
Before closing, press the support
into the holder, lower the bonnet
and allow it to drop into the catch.
Check that the bonnet is engaged.
Tyre pressure:
Check tyre pressures, including the spare, every 14 days and prior to any long journey; tyres should be
checked when cold.
Always inflate the spare tyre to the value specified for full load.

Versions with 7 seats.
Engine oil:
Check engine oil level manually every 300 miles or prior to long journeys, to prevent damage to the engine.
Check with vehicle on a level surface. Engine must be at operating temperature and switched off for at least
10 minutes.
Pull out dipstick, wipe it clean, insert to the stop on the handle, pull out and read engine oil level.
Insert dipstick to stop on handle and make half a turn.
Caution:
It is the owner’s responsibility to maintain the correct level of an appropriate quality oil in the engine.

Longitudinal seat adjustment:
Pull handle, slide seat, release
handle.
Danger:
Do not sit nearer than 10 inches
(25 cm) from the steering wheel, to
permit safe airbag deployment.
Seat backrests:
Rotate knob on side of seat, move
seatback to a suitable position and
release lever to lock.
Do not lean on the seatback whilst
adjusting it.
Head restraint adjustment:
Press the release button, adjust
height and engage.
The upper edge of the head
restraint should be level with the
top of the head.
Seat belt:
Withdraw seat belt from retractor,
guide it untwisted across the body
and insert latch plate in belt buckle.
To release belt, press red button on
belt buckle.
Seat belt height adjustment:
1. Pull belt out slightly.
2. Press lock knob.
3. Adjust height and engage.
Seat position:
Sit with buttocks as far back
against backrest as possible.
Adjust distance between seat and
pedals so that legs are slightly
angled when depressing pedals.
Sit with your shoulders as far back
against the backrest as possible.
Set the backrest rake so that you
can easily reach the steering wheel
with your arms slightly bent.
Steering wheel adjustment:
Unlock the lever, adjust the
steering wheel, then engage the
lever and ensure it is fully locked.
Adjust only when vehicle is
stationary and steering wheel lock
is released.
Hazard warning flashers:
Operated with the ¨
button.
On= Press ¨
Off= Press ¨ again
Interior mirror:
To reduce dazzle, adjust the lever
on the underside of the mirror
housing.
Manual exterior mirrors:
Adjust mirrors by swivelling lever in
required direction.
The lower mirrors are not
adjustable.
Electrical exterior mirrors:
Select the relevant exterior mirror
by turning the selector switch to left
or right. In the central position no
mirror is selected.
The mirror glass swivels in the same
direction as the activation of the
selector switch.
Return the selector switch to the
central position to prohibit further
adjustment.
Manual transmission:
Reverse gear: With vehicle
stationary, wait 3 seconds after
depressing clutch pedal, then pull
up the button on the selector lever
and engage the gear.
Manual transmission automated
(MTA):
R =reverse
N =neutral
* =neutral
A/M=automatic or manual mode
E =eco mode
Move the selector lever to the
appropriate position and release.
Selector lever returns to centre
position.
Press the E button on the selector
lever housing. Control indicator E is
shown in the transmission display
to indicate activation.
Depress the foot brake when
starting the engine.
The current gear/mode is shown in
the transmission display.
Parking brake:
To release parking brake, raise
lever slightly, press release button
and lower lever fully.
Always apply parking brake firmly
without operating the release
button and apply as firmly as
possible on an uphill or downhill
slope.
To reduce the operating forces of
the parking brake, depress the
brake at the same time.
Light switch:
Rotate end of lever:
9 = Sidelights and headlights
$ = Off
Operate buttons on instrument
panel:
> = Front fog lights
r = Rear fog lights
ÁÀ = Headlight range
adjustment
Correct headlight adjustment
reduces dazzle for other road
users. With low beam on, adjust to
suit vehicle load.
Headlight flash, high beam and
low beam:
Headlight flash = Pull lever
towards
steering wheel
High beam = Push lever
forwards
Low beam = Pull lever back
towards
steering wheel.
Control indicator C illuminates in
instrument cluster when high beam
and headlight flash is on.
Turn and lane-change signals:
Lever up = Right turn signal
Lever down = Left turn signal
If the lever is moved past the
resistance point, the turn signal is
switched on constantly. When the
steering wheel is moved back the
turn signal is automatically
deactivated.
For five flashes, e.g. when
changing lanes, press the lever until
resistance is felt and then release.
Windscreen wiper:
Rotate lever:
$ = Wiper off
Ç = Intermittent operation
È = Slow
É = Fast
Move lever up:
Single swipe.
Warning:
In freezing conditions, wiper blades
can freeze to the windscreen.
Release wiper blades from the ice
before operating the windscreen
wiper, to prevent wiper motor
damage.
Windscreen wash:
Pull lever. Wash fluid is sprayed
onto the windscreen and the wiper
wipes for a few strokes.
Rear window wiper/wash:
Rotate lever:
$ = Wiper off
e = Wiper on
Wash fluid is sprayed on to rear
window when the lever is pushed
away from the steering wheel.
The rear window wiper comes on
automatically when the windscreen
wiper is switched on and reverse
gear is engaged.
Seat height:
Lever pumping motion
up = seat higher
down = seat lower
