The manufacturer of this VT ech Product warrants to
the holder of a valid proo f of purchase (“Consumer” or
“you”) tha t the Pr oduct and all accessories pr ovided in
the sales package (“Product”) ar e free from defects in
material and workmanship, pursuant to the follo wing
terms and conditions, when installed and used
normally and in ac cordance with the Product oper ating
instructions. This limit ed warr anty e xtends only to the
Consumer f or Products pur chased and used in the
United Sta tes of America and Canada.
What will VT ech do if the Product is not free fr om
defects in materials and workmanship during the
limited w arranty period (“Materially Defective
Product”)?

option, without charge, a Ma terially Def ective
Product . If we repair the Product, we may use new
or r efurbished replacemen t parts. If we choose to

option, is your exclusiv e remedy . VT ech will r eturn the

The limited warranty period for the Product extends
for ONE (1) YEAR from the date of purchase. If VTech
repairs or replaces a Materially Defective Product under

a period of either (a) 90 days from the date the repaired
or replacement Product is shipped to you or (b) the time
remaining on the original one-year warranty; whichever

accident, shipping or other physical damage,
improper installation, abnormal operation or

3. Product to the extent that the problem experienced
is caused by signal conditions, network reliability, or

5. Product whose warranty/quality stickers, product

assumes no risk for damage or loss of the Product

Y ou can add or r eplace any camera units to your
HD video monit or sy stem.
The HD video monit oring family includes VM981
and VM991 . Their r espective camer a units are
VM980 and VM990, which can be pur chased
separately . The y can be cross-pair ed within the
family , for ex ample, y ou can hav e a combination
of VM981 and VM990. Y ou can pair a maximum
of 4 camer a units to your par ent unit .

Set up the HD video monitor
After you ha ve connect ed the paren t unit and
the camera unit, r efer t o the Quick start guide
included in y our package to set up y our HD
video monitor system.

T esting the sound lev e l of the HD
video monitor
• For hearing pr otection, mak e sure the par ent
unit is more than 1 meter (3 feet) awa y fr om
the camera unit. I f you hear any high-
pitched noise from the parent unit when
the Play sound function of the camera unit is
enabled, mov e the parent unit further un til
the noise stops. Y ou can also press -/VOL on
the parent unit to low er or mute the noise.
• Increase the par ent unit speaker v olume if you
cannot hear the sounds transmitted from the
camera unit when the Play sound function is
enabled.

such as a smartphone, tablet or card reader and
copy the snapshots and videos.

Befor e y ou install your camera unit, you need
to t est which o f your selected monitoring areas
within the house hav e good Wi-Fi signal s trength.
After you ha ve connect ed y our par ent unit to a
Wi-Fi network, you can use y our par ent unit’s Wi-
Fi signal strength indica tor to assist in checking.
Once you have identified the suitable location,
you can install your camer a unit. Adjust the
distance betw een y our camer a unit and the Wi-Fi
router if needed.
• Depending on surroundings and obstructing
factors, such as the eff ect distance and in ternal
walls hav e on signal strength, you may experience
reduced Wi-Fi signal. T o improv e the Wi-Fi signal
strength, adjust the distance or direction of y our
parent unit. Check with your par ent unit again.
