Note: It may be necessary to secure the tool by applying pressure on the Fence (30) (Image
H) rather than holding the Auxiliary Handle (1) to ensure the tool stays in the same position
on the wood.
Note: It may also be necessary to apply pressure if you are using a non-slip mat to secure the
workpiece, which requires more downward pressure on the workpiece. Only do so if you are
comfortable holding the tool with only one hand on the main body. Ideally both hands should
be used to hold the tool during operation with the workpiece firmly clamped to the work
surface for maximum safety.
6. Press the On/Off Trigger Switch (17), allow the blade to reach normal speed and push the
body of the machine forward so that the Saw Blade (32) penetrates the workpiece (Image
H)
7. Push the body of the machine forward as far as it will go, until arrested by the Depth Stop
(13) on the Turret Stop (11) to create the required slot in the workpiece
8. While keeping the tool powered, allow the body of the tool to return to its original position,
removing the Saw Blade from the workpiece. Hold the tool securely with both hands while
doing so
9. Once the Saw Blade exits the workpiece, release the On/Off Trigger Switch
Note: The return spring will cause the body to move automatically back to the rest position,
withdrawing the Saw Blade from the workpiece, while still applying some pressure to the
Face and Fence. The operator should carefully control the exit of the Saw Blade, taking care to
maintain the tool in exactly the same position in relation to the cut slot
10. Once the Saw Blade is clear of the workpiece and have stopped rotating, lift the tool away
from the workpiece
Note: It is recommended to practise using the tool on scrap pieces of wood first so you can
fully understand how it operates.
Note: Always do a dry fit of the pieces of wood with fitted biscuits before applying wood glue
for the final assembly as the glue will activate the biscuits and cause them to expand slightly
in addition to bonding the two workpieces together making re-fitting difficult if incorrect.
Positioning
In order to cut the corresponding slot in the face of the joining workpiece, the machine
needs to be positioned perpendicular to that face (images D, E & F)
It is recommended that you work with the machine bearing down on the workpiece, so that
the weight of the machine works with the direction of operation, as opposed to attempting
to drive holes upwards from below the workpiece
If you need to cut a slot too far from an edge (internal or pocket cut) remove the Fence
(30) by loosening the Fence Locking Knob (29) and lifting off the tool. The jointer can now
rest vertically on a surface and be positioned freely - even on large workpieces (Image A).
Ensure the tool is secure in position before cutting. Clamped wood on the surface of the
workpiece can be used as a guide which will prevent the tool moving on both axes
For some other cuts the Fence will prevent the cut and will need to be removed (Image G)
Other joints
Note: The versatility of this tool goes far beyond what is covered in this manual and this serves
only as an introduction to its features and operation.
Accessories
A wide range of accessories is available from your Triton dealer. Spares can be ordered through
your Triton dealer or www.toolsparesonline.com.
Maintenance
WARNING: ALWAYS disconnect the tool from the power supply, before cleaning or
carrying out maintenance.
Inspect the supply cord of the tool prior to each use for damage or wear. Repairs should
be carried out by an authorised Triton service centre. This advice also applies to extension
cords used with this tool
General inspection
Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight. They may vibrate loose over time
Lubrication
Lubricate all moving parts with a suitable lubricant spray, at regular intervals
Changing the saw blade
WARNING: ALWAYS wear cut-proof gloves when handling saw blades.
IMPORTANT: Never fit a damaged, heavily worn or blunt saw blade.
IMPORTANT: The saw blade rpm must match or exceed the no load speed of the tool (see
specification).
1. Turn the device on its back, with the bottom of the Base (12) facing upward
2. Unscrew the Blade Access Knob (21) until the Base Lid (31) can be raised. Ensure the Fence
(30) is at a height away from the Base
3. Press the Spindle Lock Button (2) and use the supplied pin spanner to remove the Threaded
Blade Flange (33)
4. Remove the Saw Blade (32)
5. Insert a new Saw Blade of identical type and dimensions (see ‘Specification’)
WARNING: ALWAYS observe the direction of rotation, as indicated by the Direction Indicator
(35 & 3).
6. Refit the Threaded Blade Flange, press in the Spindle Lock Button and tighten the Threaded
Blade Flange with the pin spanner
7. Release the Spindle Lock Button, lower the Base Lid and re-tighten the Blade Access Knob
Cleaning
WARNING: ALWAYS wear protective equipment including eye protection and gloves when
cleaning this tool.
Keep your tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts to wear quickly, and
shorten the device’s service life
Clean the body of your machine with a soft brush, or dry cloth
Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts. If dry cleaning is not sufficient, a mild
detergent on a damp cloth is recommended
Water must never come into contact with the tool
Ensure the tool is thoroughly dry before using it
If available, use clean, dry, compressed air to blow through the ventilation holes (where
applicable)
Brushes
Over time the carbon brushes inside the motor may become worn
Excessively worn brushes may cause loss of power, intermittent failure, or visible sparking
To replace the brushes;
1. Remove the Handle Screws (20) that secure the Main Handle (18) housing
2. Remove the two sides carefully making sure not to pull or damage the cables
3. Carefully use a screwdriver to push in the small notch at the front indicated by the lower
arrow (Image I)
4. Carefully press in the other side of the brush base as indicated with the upper arrow then
carefully remove the brush from the brush housing
5. Remove both worn brushes and replace with new (Image J)
6. Refit the housing carefully then insert and tighten the Handle Screws
Alternatively, have the machine serviced at an authorised Triton service centre
Note: Always replace carbon brushes in pairs.
Disposal
Always adhere to national regulations when disposing of power tools that are no longer
functional and are not viable for repair.
Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE),
with household waste
Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the correct way to dispose of
power tools
