Battery tools use and care
a) Recharge only with charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger
that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when
used with another battery pack.
b) Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs.
Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire
c) When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal
objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws and other small
metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to
another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause a burns or
a fire.
d) Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery;
avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If
liquid contact eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected
from the battery may cause irritation or burns
Service
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using
only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the
power tool is maintained.
WARNING: Before connecting a tool to a power source (mains switch power
point receptacle, outlet, etc.) be sure that the voltage supply is the same as
that specified on the nameplate of the tool. A power source with a voltage
greater than that specified for the tool can result in serious injury to the user,
and damage to the tool. If in doubt, do not plug in the tool. Using a power
source with a voltage less than the nameplate rating is harmful to the motor.
Reciprocating Saw Safety
Ensure that lighting is adequate
Keep the area free of tripping hazards
Wear appropriate safety equipment including eye protection and gloves to
protect against vibration
Never saw near combustible liquids or gases
Check for hidden wiring and pipes before sawing
Use recommended blades only
Blades must be sharp and not cracked or distorted
Before starting work, inspect the workpiece and remove all embedded
objects such as nails, screws etc
Support and secure the workpiece correctly
When cutting cylindrical wood, use clamps that prevent the workpiece from
turning
Use the insulated handles when operating power tools. This protects the
operator if the tool accidentally cuts through hidden electrical wiring,
causing the tool to become ‘live’
Always stand to one side when operating the saw
Do not use your hands to remove sawdust, chips or waste close to the
blade
Never reach over the blade to remove waste or off-cuts
Do not attempt to free a jammed blade until the machine has been
disconnected from the power
Do not attempt to slow or stop a blade with any object. Let the blade come
to rest naturally
If you are interrupted when operating the saw, complete the process and
switch off before looking up
Periodically check the tool for loose nuts, bolts and tighten as necessary
Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces, when performing an
operation where the cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring. Cutting
accessory contacting a ‘live’ wire may make exposed metal parts of the power
tool ‘live’ and could give the operator an electric shock.
Use clamps or another practical way to secure and support the workpiece
to a stable platform. Holding the work by hand or against your body leaves it
unstable and may lead to loss of control.
NOTICE for Battery Packs
DANGER - Risk of battery packs include burn hazard and explosion hazard
CAUTION - Do not open, disassemble, crush, heat above 60°C or incinerate.
No not dispose of in fire or similar
CAUTION - for primary batteries, do not charge
CAUTION - only charge battery with charger model T12BC. For safety use of
battery charger, make reference to the instruction manual of the
battery charger
CAUTION - follow manufacturer’s instructions
Battery Charger Safety
Use the battery charger correctly
Refer to the section of this manual relating to use of the battery charger
before attempting to charge the battery.
Do not attempt to use the charger with any batteries other than those
supplied. Keep your battery charger clean; foreign objects or dirt may
cause a short or block air vents. Failure to follow these instructions may
cause overheating or fire
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its
service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the
appliance.
Warning: Do not recharge non-rechargeable batteries
Use batteries correctly
Only charge battery pack using the charger provided. Only use battery pack
provided with this power tool, or others recommended by the supplier. Keep
batteries clean; foreign objects or dirt may cause a short. Allow battery pack
to cool for 15 minutes after charging or heavy use. Failure to follow these
instructions may cause overheating or fire.
When not in use the battery pack should be stored at room temperature
(approx. 20°C). Ensure that the battery pack cannot accidentally short in
storage.
Battery and charger safety features
The battery and charger are fitted with a number of safety features which may
be triggered during charging or operation:
Over-charge protection: Charger automatically switches off when
the battery has reached full charge capacity, protecting the internal
components of the battery
Over-discharge protection: Prevents the battery from discharging beyond
the recommended lowest safety voltage
Over-heat protection: Sensor switches off if the battery becomes too hot
during operation. This can happen if the tool is overloaded or being used
for extended periods of time. Up to 30 minutes’ cooling time may be
required depending on the ambient temperature
Overload protection: Battery temporarily stops if it is overloaded or the
maximum current draw is exceeded, protecting the internal components.
The battery will resume normal operation when the current draw returns to
a normal safe level. This may take a few seconds
Short circuit protection: The battery will stop working immediately if a short
circuit occurs, this prevents damage to the battery or tool
WARNING: When used in Australia or New Zealand, it is recommended that
this tool is ALWAYS supplied via Residual Current Device (RCD) with a rated
residual current of 30mA or less.
Intended Use
The Triton T12RS is a versatile cordless reciprocating saw. This tool is optimally
configured for sawing wood but can also cut a wide range of other materials
when fitted with a suitable blade.
