Stopping and restarting copying

Tap [Stop].

To stop copying, tap [Job Cancel]. To restart, tap [Next Copy] or press the [START] button on the
control panel.
Scanning the next original during copying
You can scan the next original even if copying is in progress or the message indicating the MFP is ready is displayed.

Place the originals.

Set the number of copy sets and the copy settings as required.

Press the [START] button.
Interrupting copying and making other copies
You can interrupt the copy job in progress to make other copies.

Tap the interrupt icon.

Place the originals.

Make the copy settings as required, and then press the [START] button.

Tap the interrupt icon again after the interrupt copying has finished.
Making one copy as a sample

Place the originals.

Setting the paper size
The paper size is automatically detected when you set the paper in the drawer.
Setting the paper type

Tap [User Functions -User-] on the home screen.

Tap the [User] tab > [Drawer] > [Paper Type].

Select the paper type, and then tap [OK].

Tap [OK].
Selecting exit tray
You can switch the exit tray by tapping [Exit Tray] if the finisher or the Inner Tray is installed.
Bypass copying

Place the originals.

Place the paper on the bypass tray.

Set the same paper size as that of the paper placed on the bypass tray.

Tap [Paper Type] if the paper type is other than plain paper.
5
Make the copy settings as required, and then tap [OK].

Press the [START] button.
Enlargement and reduction copying

Set the paper.

Tap [Zoom].

Select the paper size and reproduction ratio, and then tap [OK].

Setting the original mode
Select the original mode by tapping [Original Mode].
[Text/Photo]: Suitable for originals with mixed text and photos

[Photo]: Suitable for originals with photos
[Printed Image]: Suitable for originals with photogravure
[Map]: Suitable for originals with fine illustrations or text
[Image Smoothing]: Suitable for originals with mixed text and photos requiring higher reproducibility on photos
Switching the color mode
On the [Basic] tab, select the color mode.
[Full Color]: Originals are copied in full color.
[Black]: Originals are copied in black and white.
[Auto Color]: The color mode is automatically selected.
Density adjustment
On the [Basic] tab, tap [Auto] or the density adjustment buttons to adjust the density.

Setting the editing functions
Tap [Copy], then select the [Edit] tab, and then make settings.
Setting the binding margin
Tap [Image Shift], then select the type of binding margin, and then tap [OK].
Erasing the dark area on the edge of original
Tap [Edge Erase], then adjust the margin, and then tap [OK].
Erasing the shadow at the center of book-type original
Tap [Book Center Erase], then adjust the margin, and then tap [OK].
Copying 2 facing pages of book-type original on 2 separate sheets

Tap [Dual Page].

Select [1 Side] to copy the 2 facing pages of the original to only 1 side of 2 separate sheets of
paper. Select [2 Side] to copy the 2 facing pages of the original to 2 sides of 1 sheet of paper.

Select the [Basic] tab, and then select A4, B5, or LT as the paper size.

Open the desired page of the original and place it on the original glass, and then press the
[START] button.
Copying 2/4 pages to 1 sheet
Tap [2in1/4in1], then select [2 in 1] or [4 in 1], then select the duplex setting, then select the original direction, and
then tap [OK].
Centering the output on the paper
Tap [Centering Copy], and then tap [OK].
Editing the scanned images (Trimming/Masking)

Tap [Editing], and then select [Trim] or [Mask].

Place the original on the original glass with its face up.

Read the following 4 values to specify the area using the left and top scales on the original glass.
X1: From the top left to the left edge of the selected area
X2: From the top left to the right edge of the selected area
Y1: From the top left to the upper edge of the selected area
Y2: From the top left to the lower edge of the selected area
Note that the marks of the original scales have a 2 mm (0.08") pitch.

Adding cover sheet

Place the paper for cover sheets in the drawer or on the bypass tray.
When placing paper for cover sheets in the drawer, be sure to select [Cover] as the paper type, and then set the
paper size and thickness.
When placing paper for cover sheets on the bypass tray, be sure to set the paper size and thickness.

Place the paper other than the cover sheets.

Place the originals.

Tap [Cover Sheet], then select the front and back cover settings, and then tap [OK].

Select the [Basic] tab, and then select the drawer in which the paper other than the cover sheets
is placed.

Make the copy settings as required, and then press the [START] button.
Inserting sheet at the desired page
You can insert a special type of paper at the desired page.

Place sheets for insertion in the drawer or on the bypass tray.
When placing sheets for insertion in the drawer, select the thickness, and then select [Insert] as “Attribute” by
accessing home screen > [User Functions -User-] > [User] > [Drawer] > [Paper Type].
When placing sheets for insertion on the bypass tray, be sure to set the paper size and paper type.

Place the paper other than the sheets for insertion.

Place the originals.

Tap [Sheet Insertion].

Select [Copied] to insert a copied sheet at the specified page. Select [Blank] to insert a blank
sheet at the desired sheet.

Select the page where the sheet is inserted, and then tap [Set]. After the setting is complete, tap
[OK].

Select the [Basic] tab, and then select the drawer in which the paper other than the sheets for
insertion is placed.

Make the copy settings as required, and then press the [START] button.
Adding date and time
Tap [Time Stamp], then select the direction and position of the time stamp, then select the original direction, and
then tap [OK].

Tap [Page Number], then select the output direction and position of the page number, then specify the page number,

Copying several stacks of originals with separate settings

Tap [Job Build], and then tap [OK].

Place the first stack of originals, then select settings, and then press the [START] button.

Place the next stack of originals, then select the settings, and then press the [START] button.

When the scanning of all the originals is finished, change the number of copy sets as required,
and then tap [Job Finish].
Omitting blank page
Tap [Omit Blank Page], and then tap [OK].
Erasing black frames around images

Tap [Outside Erase].

Select [On], and then adjust Range Adjustment. When the adjustment value is higher, the area to
be erased becomes wider.

Tap [OK].
Changing the feeding mode of the Automatic Document Feeder

Tap [ADF -> SADF], and then tap [OK].

Place the originals on the Automatic Document Feeder one sheet at a time.
Copying the entire image

Select the [Basic] tab, and then tap [Zoom].

Select the original size and copy paper size and then tap [OK].

Select the [Edit] tab, and then tap [Full Image].

Make the copy settings as required, and then press the [START] button.
Copying the image repeatedly on 1 sheet

Tap [Image Repeat].

Setting the image adjustment functions
Tap [Copy] on the home screen, then select [Image] tab, and then make settings.
Adjusting the color balance
Tap [Color Balance], then adjust the color balance of each color, and then tap [OK].
Adjusting RGB
Tap [RGB Adjustment], then adjust the red, green, and blue colors, and then tap [OK].
Adjusting with one-touch button
Tap [One Touch Adjustment], then select the image quality, and then tap [OK].
Adjusting the background
Tap [Background Adjustment], then adjust the density, and then tap [OK].
Adjusting the sharpness
Tap [Sharpness], then adjust the sharpness, and then tap [OK].
Twin color copying (selectable)
The black part and the parts other than black in the original are copied in 2 specified colors.

Tap [Twincolor Copy], and then tap [Twincolor Selectable].

Select the color for the black part and the color for the part other than black, and then tap [OK].
Twin color copying (red and black)
The red part in the original is copied in red and the parts other than red are copied in black and white.

Tap [Twincolor Copy], and then tap [Red&Black].

Adjust the red color or red-and-black area as required, and then tap [OK].
Mono color copying
This function allows you to make copies in a single color except black. Tap [Mono Color], and then select the desired
color.
Adjusting the hue
Tap [Hue], then adjust the hue, and then tap [OK].
Adjusting the saturation
Tap [Saturation], then adjust the saturation, and then tap [OK].
Reducing ADF scan noise
Tap [ADF Noise Reduction], then select the reduction level, and then tap [OK].

Basic procedure

Place the originals.

Make the settings for the original size, resolution, and options as required.

Setting the originals
For which originals can be sent and how to place them, refer to the Operator's Manual for the FAX Unit.
Setting the original size
[Auto]: Select this to automatically detect the size of the original.
[Different Width]: Select this when placing originals of different sizes on the Automatic Document Feeder.
Specified size: Specify the size to scan the original with the specified size regardless of its actual size.
Setting the resolution
[U-Fine]: For original with ultra-fine illustrations
[Fine]: For originals with small size text and fine illustrations
[Standard]: For originals with regular size text
Setting the options
Original Mode
[Text/Photo]: For originals with a mixture of text and photos
[Text]: For originals with text and line drawings
[Photo]: For originals with photos
Exposure
Set the density of the scanned originals
2-Sided Scan
Make the setting for 2-sided scanning.
Tx Setting
Tx Type
[Memory Tx]: Originals are saved in the memory, and then sent automatically.
[Direct Tx]: Originals are sent directly by connecting to the destination.
ECM
Switch the ECM (Error Correction Mode) communication [On] or [Off]. With this setting option [On], even when the
transmitted data have been affected by noise during communication, this mode allows good communication
without image distortion by automatically resending the parts that have been affected.
Quality Tx
Switch “Quality Tx” [On] or [Off]. When this mode is set to [On], originals are sent at a slower speed than usual and
the chances of errors occurring decrease.
Line Select
Select the line to be used.
SUB/SEP
Information to send the original data to the fax machine or information to retrieve the original data from the fax
machine.

Specifying the recipient in the address book
Select the single tab, and then select the recipients.
Selecting the group in the address book
Select the group tab, and then select the groups from the list.
Entering the fax number
Select the direct entry tab, then input the fax number.
Searching the recipient in the address book or LDAP server

Select the single or group tab, and then tap the search icon.

Select the item from “Location”, and then enter the keyword, and then tap [Search].

Select the recipients.
Other transmissions
The on-hook and off-hook transmission are available. For details, refer to the Operator's Manual for the FAX Unit.

The reception mode can be set on the “Admin” menu.
Auto reception
Faxes are automatically received during an incoming call.
Manual reception

Pick up the handset of the external telephone when you have an incoming call.

If you hear a tone (fax signal) through the handset, tap [Fax] on the home screen.

Tap [Manual Rx].

Press the [START] button on the control panel and replace the handset.

Erasing black frames around images
To erase the black outer frame around an original, set the “Outside Erase” setting to [On].
You can set the reference for detecting the boundary between the image and the outer frame under “Range
Adjustment”. The higher the level, the more area is erased.

is reduced by 75% of the original size when printed.
Rotate Sort
Switch the rotate sort function to [On] or [Off]. When the setting is [On], the received faxes are alternately sorted
