1 Before Initial use
Thank you for purchasing this Topcom USB telephone.
1.1 Intended Purpose
This USB phone provides you more conveniences to make free calls over the Internet from
PC to PC anywhere as easy as using normal telephones. Simply plug the USB phone into
the USB port of your PC, download Internet telephony software like SKYPE® and you can
start making conference calls. You can easily access the net and connect your friends, family
members or colleagues. It is designed similar to a mobile phone with quick dial and volume
control buttons. The phone is compatible with:
1.2 Cleaning
Clean the telephone with a slightly damp cloth or with an anti-static cloth. Never use cleaning
agents or abrasive solvents.
1.3 Disposal of the device (environment)
At the end of the product lifecycle, you should not throw this product into the
normal household garbage but bring the product to a collection point for the
recycling of electrical and electronic equipments. The symbol on the product,
user guide and/or box indicate this.
Some of the product materials can be re-used if you bring them to a recycling point. By re-
using some parts or raw materials from used products you make an important contribution to
the protection of the environment.Please contact your local authorities in case you need
more information on the collection points in your area.

5 Getting started
5.1 Webt@lker 211 installation
To insure that the Webt@lker 211 is functioning optimal with your softphone, the utility must
be installed.
Insert the Topcom Webt@lker 211 CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. The setup menu will
start up automatically.
If the program doesn’t run automatically, click on START in the toolbar and select
Run. Enter D:\CD_Start.exe (if D in not your CD-ROM drive, enter the appropriate letter)
1. Once the auto run screen appears, select ‘Install Software’.

2. Click ‘Next’ to start the installation
3. Browse to the folder were you want to install the application and select ‘Next’ to
continue.

4. Click ‘Next’.
5. Connect one end of the provided USB cable to the USB phone and the other end to
your computer’s USB port. When connected to your computer, Windows® will
automatically detect the new device. Under Windows XP/2000, the system will
automatically install the Windows built-in driver. Click ‘OK’ and ‘Finish’ when your
phone is found. After that, you are ready to use the USB phone as audio gateway.
6. Click ‘Close’ to finalize the installation.
7. Restart your PC when requested.

6 Uninstall the Webt@lker 211 Utility
1. Go to your control panel and select ‘Add or Remove programs’ and select
“Webt@lker 211’. Click ‘Remove’
2. Close all running applications listed and click ‘Retry’.
3. Click ‘yes’ to restart your system.

7 Using your Webtalker 211 with Skype ®
After installing the driver and connecting the Webtalker 211 to your USB port, you are ready
to use the telephone with any softphone as audio gateway.
To use the Webtalker 211 with Skype follow the next instructions.
7.1 Skype interface
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SELECTED ‘SKYPE’ as interface in the Butler Webtalker 211
program:
When Skype is already installed on your computer, the following screen appears. Select
‘Allow this program to use Skype’ and click ‘OK’.
If you accidentally select ‘Do not allow this program to use Skype’ , open Skype window
and take these steps:

Click Tools > Options > Privacy > Manage other program's access to Skype.
•Select WEBT@LKER 211.EXE and click Change’, then re-select a proper option to let
the provided program access Skype.
Press OK in the setting window, followed by ‘Save’ in the option menu.
7.2 Setting the ringer melody and volume on the handset
Only in ‘SKYPE ’, you can change the ringer volume and melody for an incoming PC call.
You have 5 ringer melodies and 16 volumes to choose from.
Press the - button to enter the melodie setting menu
Press the - button or - button to select the ringer melodie (0-5 or OFF)
Press the - button to increase or the - button to decrease the melodie volume

7.3 Using the Webtalker with Skype
®
7.3.1 Calling a Skype User
Launch Skype and log on to Skype.
Open the Webtalker 211 interface by double clicking the ‘ icon in the systray. The
Webtalker 211 interface pops-up.
Select ‘Skype’ and close the interface.
‘USB Phone - Skype’ is displayed on the Webtalker screen.
Press the Down button on the USB phone to scroll
through the contact list.
The display indicates the contact person status.
Online, Skype me, Away, Not available, Do not disturb
Offline
Press the Up button to scroll backwards.
Press the Dial/Answer button to call the selected contact person.
Once the call has been established, press the Handsfree button to make a handfree
conversation. Press the Handsfree button again to stop handsfree mode.
Press the Off hook/Clear button to disconnect the call
Press the Exit Menu button , to leave the contact list.
7.3.2 Answering a Call
When the USB phone is ringing on an incoming call, press the Dial/Answer button to
answer the call.
To end a call, press the Off hook/Clear button.
7.3.3 Incoming call list
The last incomming calls are registred in the skype history.
To view the call historie:
Press the Dial/Answer button . ‘Contacts’ is displayed.
Press the Down button to select ‘Call In’
Press the Dial/Answer button again to enter the call list. The most recent call is
displayed with date and time.
Press the Down button and Up button on the USB phone to scroll through the
call list.
Press the Dial/Answer button to call back the contact person or the Exit Menu button
twice to leave the menu.

If there is no audio, check the SKYPE sound devices. The Audio in, Audio
Out and Ringing must be set to ‘USB Audio Device’.

7.3.4 Outgoing call list
The last outgoing calls are registred in the skype history.
To view the call historie:
Press the Dial/Answer button . ‘Contacts’ is displayed.
Press the Down button twice to select ‘Call Out’
Press the Dial/Answer button again to enter the call list. The most recent call is
displayed with date and time.
Press the Down button and Up button on the USB phone to scroll through the
call list.
Press the Dial/Answer button to call back the contact person or the Exit Menu button
twice to leave the menu.
7.4 Voice mail contacts
You are able to leave a message to Offline users which have activated a skype voice mail.
7.4.1 Listen to the VM message from your contacts:
Press the Dial/Answer button . ‘Contacts’ is displayed.
Press the Down button four times to select ‘Listen VM’
Press the Dial/Answer button again to enter the call list. The contacts with a voice
mail box are displayed.
Press the Down button and Up button on the USB phone to scroll through the
call list.
Press the Dial/Answer button to listen to the contacts voice mail message.
Press the Off hook/Clear button to disconnect the call
Press the Exit Menu button twice to leave the menu.
7.4.2 Leave a message in your contact Mail Box:
Press the Dial/Answer button . ‘Contacts’ is displayed.
Press the Down button four times to select ‘Send VM’
Press the Dial/Answer button again to enter the call list. The contacts with a voice
mail box are displayed.
Press the Down button and Up button on the USB phone to scroll through the
call list.
Press the Dial/Answer button to listen to the contacts voice mail message and
record a message.
Press the Off hook/Clear button to disconnect the call
Press the Exit Menu button twice to leave the menu.
7.5 Calling a external phone number (Skype Out)
Note: If you want to use this function, you should buy SkypeOut Credit first. Check the
SKYPE website: www.skype.com
Enter the phone number by pressing the USB phone keypad.
Press the Dial/Answer button to call the number.
To end a call, press the Off hook/Clear button.

7.6 Speed Dialling
7.6.1 To enter a speed dial number
In Skype window, go to the Contacts tab and select your desired contact.
Right-click the contact and select Assign Speed-Dial.
Assign a number as a speed dial number by your keypad
•Select ‘OK’ to confirm and return to the main Skype window.
7.6.2 To dial a speed dial number
Enter the speed dial number using the USB phone keypad.
Wrong entered digits can be cleared by pressing the Delete button .
Press the Dial/Answer button to call the number.
To end a call, press the Off hook/Clear button.
7.7 Skype button
When skype is running in the background, press the Skype button on the telephone
to open the Skype window.
Press the Skype button repeatedly to switch between the Contact list, the Dial
buttons screen and History.
Press and hold the Skype button to close the Skype window.

8 MSN Live Messenger interface
Launch MSN Live messenger
Open the Webtalker 211 interface by double clicking the ‘ icon in the systray. The
Webtalker 211 interface pops-up.
Select MSN Live Messenger and close the interface.
The appropriate softphone name is displayed on the on the
Webtalker screen.
8.0.1 Incoming call
When you receive an incoming only the PC screen will show that someone is calling.
The Webtalker 211 will not ring!
Use your PC mouse to select ‘Answeror ‘Decline’
You can now use your Webtalker 211 to make the conversation.
•Select ‘Hang up’ on your PC to disconnect the call.
This section describes the operation under MSN Messenger !
The interworking between MSN messenger and the telephone only works if
MSN messenger is opened and minimized in the application tray.
Run the Audio Setup wizard in MSN messenger and set the ‘USB audio
device’ as microphone and speaker device.

8.0.2 Making a PC to PC call
Press the Down button on the USB phone to scroll through the contact list.
Press the Up button to scroll backwards.
Press the Dial/Answer button to call the selected contact person.
The ringback will come from the computer speakers. The Webtalker 211 will only
activate audio when the call is established!
Once the call has been established, press the Handsfree button to make a handfree
conversation.
Press the Off hook/Clear button to
disconnect the call. The next window pops-up.
•Select ‘Yes’ to end the call.
Press the Exit Menu button , to leave the
contact list.
9 SJ-Phone/Net2Phone/Voipbuster and other softphone
interfaces
Launch SJ-Phone or Net2Phone
Open the Webtalker 211 interface by double clicking the ‘ icon in the systray. The
Webtalker 211 interface pops-up.
Select the desired softphone and close the interface.
The appropriate softphone name is displayed on the
Webtalker screen.
9.0.1 Incoming call
When you receive an incoming call the telephone will ring.
Press the Dial/Answer button to answer the call.
To end a call, press the Off hook/Clear button.
9.0.2 Making a PC call to an external telephone number (only when you have credits)
Enter the telephone number you want to dial
Wrong entered digits can be cleared by pressing the Delete button .
Press the Dial/Answer button to call the number.
To end a call, press the Off hook/Clear button.
9.0.3 Making a PC to PC call
Enter the telephone number you want to dial
Wrong entered digits can be cleared by pressing the Delete button .
Press the Dial/Answer button to call the number.

In these softphones, the webtalker 211 does not show contactpersons in the
display.
Make sure that the microphone and speaker device in your softphone is set
as the ‘USB audio device’.

10 Troubleshooting
1. Skype is launched, but it has no response when I press any button using my
USB phone.
Make sure your Skype is allowed to be accessed by the provided API. To check
this setting, open Skype window and take these steps:
Click Tools > Options > Privacy > Manage other program's access to Skype.
Select WEBTALKER 211.EXE and click Change, then re-select a proper option to let
the program access Skype.
If you have reset a proper option but there is still no response, try to reboot your computer.
2. While using Skype, the voice is played via the PC sound card instead from the
USB phone.
In Skype window, click Tools > Options > Sound Devices. When the following
screen pops up, make sure the microphone and speaker are correctly
configured as below:
3. While using the USB phone to make/answer a call in Skype, can I still play
music by my PC's sound card?
Yes. Just set your sound card as the playback device in Windows®.
Under Control Panel, double-click the Sounds and Audio Devices icon and then click
Audio tab.
Select the sound card as the sound playback device.

11 Topcom warranty
11.1 Warranty period
The Topcom units have a 24-month warranty period. The warranty period starts on the day
the new unit is purchased.
Consumables or defects causing a negligible effect on operation or value of the equipment
are not covered.
The warranty has to be proven by presentation of the original purchase receipt, on which the
date of purchase and the unit-model are indicated.
11.2 Warranty handling
A faulty unit needs to be returned to a Topcom service centre including a valid purchase note.
If the unit develops a fault during the warranty period, Topcom or its officially appointed
service centre will repair any defects caused by material or manufacturing faults free of
charge.
Topcom will at its discretion fulfil its warranty obligations by either repairing or exchanging
the faulty units or parts of the faulty units. In case of replacement, colour and model can be
different from the original purchased unit.
The initial purchase date shall determine the start of the warranty period. The warranty period
is not extended if the unit is exchanged or repaired by Topcom or its appointed service
centres.
11.3 Warranty exclusions
Damage or defects caused by incorrect treatment or operation and damage resulting from
use of non-original parts or accessories not recommended by Topcom are not covered by
the warranty.
The warranty does not cover damage caused by outside factors, such as lightning, water and
fire, nor any damage caused during transportation.
No warranty can be claimed if the serial number on the units has been changed, removed or
rendered illegible.
