Poor quality radio r eception
The aerial signal may not be adequate . T r y adjusting the
aerial position while watching the signal str ength on the
bargraph. Signal strength can be displayed by tuning to a
DAB station and pr essing the Info/Menu button until the
signal strength bar graph is displayed .
Fe w DAB stations are a vailable after moving area
The radio should be reset to renew the station list. Refer to
the ‘F actor y Reset’ sec tion on page 7.
Poor quality F M reception
If you are listening to a sta tion with a w eak signal, tr y
changing the Audio Setting to ‘Forced Mono ’ .

The bottom line of the display c an be switched to show
dierent items of information that may be transmitted with
a DAB sta tion.
Choosing the information displa y
Press the Info/Menu button repeatedly to change the
information display ed while playing a D AB radio station.
The full range of display options ar e shown below . Some
stations may not br oadcast all of these options.
DLS (Dynamic Label S egment): This is a scrolling message
giving real-time information - song titles, news headlines,
etc.
SIGNAL STRENGTH: This setting will displa y a signal strength
bargraph. The longer the bar graph, the stronger the signal.
Setting the display to show signal strength is useful when
setting up the aerial for the strongest signal .
PROGRAMME T YPE: This describes the style of the
programme being br oadcast.
MUL TIPLEX NAME: DAB Digital radio stations are broadcast
in multiplexes . Each multiplex is a bundle of radio stations
transmitted in a single fr equenc y . There ar e national and
local multiplexes; local ones contain stations specic to your
area. This option displays the name of the multiplex name
that contains the sta tion you are list ening to .
MUL TIPLEX NUMBER/FREQ: This option will display the
multiplex number and frequency that contains the station
you ar e listening to .
SIGNAL ERROR RA TE: T his option will display the lev el of
signal errors in the current br oadcast. The lower the number ,
the better the quality of the signal.
BIT RA TE: DAB allows br oadcasters t o vary the BIT RA TE (or
the amount by which an audio signal c an be compressed)
depending on the t ype of br oadcast. This enables the amount
of sta tions on a multiplex to be maximised. Speech and N ews
are often br oadcast at a lower Bit Rate; music needs a higher
Bit Rate for good delity .
TIME AND DA TE: T ime and da te are updat ed by broadcast ed
information.
When rst used, your radio scanned the DAB band for
available stations. T he station ser vices found were then
stored in y our radio’ s memory.
Y ou c an re-scan the band at any time if you move to a dierent
area or just to r efresh the stor ed list of available stations .
NOTE: O n some occasions , when moving to a dier ent area,
re-scanning may not fully update the station list . In this case
it may be necessary t o r eset y our r adio. (see the ‘F ac tor y reset’
option on page 7).

DAB SETTINGS MENU
Y our radio has some additional features and options that
may be reached thr ough the Settings Menu.
A complete map of the menu is shown.
T o enter the DAB Settings Menu
Set to DAB mode .•
Press and • hold the Info/Menu button.
The menu will be display ed.
Press the • T une + or T une - button to step through the
available options .
T o choose an option from the menu, press the • V olume/
Selec t contr ol.
Choose the ‘System ’ menu option t o open the sub-menu of
system options shown on the menu map .
Full Sc an: Select Full Scan to re-sc an the entire DAB band
and refr esh the station list.
Manual T uning: Manual tuning enables you to search the
band manually by pressing the T une + or T une - button to
step through the multiplex numbers and check if any ha ve
usable signal strength on a bargraph display . Manual tuning
is not necessar y in normal opera tion wher e scanning will
have established a sta tion list of usable stations.
DRC: DRC is Dynamic Range Compression. E nabling DRC may
improv e the sound of DAB radio when listening in a noisy
room.
Prune: If y our station list includes stations that you can no
longer receiv e (you may have mov ed to a dier ent area), y ou
can selec t the ‘Prune’ option to remo ve them and clean up
the Station List .
System>Time: S elect the time option to set the clock
manually . This may be useful if you are in an area where it is
not possible to rec eive DAB r adio broadcasts.
Y ou can also choose aut omatic clock setting options to update
from a D AB station, FM station or an y station.
System>Backlight: S elect ‘Backlight’ , then the ‘Normal
Mode’ or ‘Standby Mode’ sub -option to change the backlight
brightness settings when the radio is operational or set to
Standby .
System>F ac tor y reset: Selec t the ‘Y es’ sub-option to reset
all the settings of your radio to factory original settings.
The station list will also be cleared and an y st ored preset
memories will be erased. After a factory r eset the radio will
re-scan the band and renew the station list .
System>SW V ersion: This option will displa y the version
number of the con trol soft war e curr ently installed in y our
radio . This will be helpful to a technician who is servicing the
radio .

MORE DET AIL OF THE FM SETTINGS MENU OPTIONS
Scan Setting: With this menu option y ou can set the
scanning sensitivity of the FM radio to two dier ent levels-
‘Strong stations’ or ‘ All stations’ . S etting to ‘Strong stations’
will exclude weaker stations resulting in a quicker sc an.
If you set to ‘ All stations’ the scan will stop at ever y station
detected, ev en if the signal is weak.
Audio Setting: This option enables you to set the radio to
‘For ced Mono’ or ‘St ereo Allowed’ . S etting Forced Mono may
be useful if the signal is weak and the broadcast is noisy
when listening in ster eo via headphones.
System: The System sub -menu options ar e the same as those
described in the DAB settings section.

the unit unplugged from the mains pow er and switched o .
The surface of the unit can be cleaned with a barely damp
cloth and then dried carefully . Never use abrasives, abrasive
cloths or chemical solvents .

Press the • DAB/F M button r epeatedly to switch bet ween
DAB and F M mode.
T o change to the FM band
Press the • DAB/F M button to switch t o the FM band.
FM will be displayed .
The r adio will play the last FM station you wer e listening to .
T o auto-tune to FM stations
Press and • hold the T une + or T une - button to search up
or down for the next station in the band.
The radio will search and the tuning frequency will be display ed
whilst searching .
When a usable station is detected the radio will stop tuning and
play the station. If RDS data is present, the sta tion name and
scrolling r adio tex t will be displayed . If RDS data is not present,
‘No Radiotext’ will be displayed.
T o manually tune to FM stations
Press the • T une + or T une - butt on briey to tune up or
down the band in 50kHz steps .
FM ster eo/mono
When listening to a weak or distant FM station in stereo via
earphones, ther e may be a high level of backgr ound noise.
In this case, setting mono reception may reduce the level of
backgr ound noise.
Press the • V olume/Selec t control to switch bet ween
mono and stereo r eception.

Y our radio can store up to 10 of your favourit e stations as
presets on both the D AB and FM bands for quick recall .
T o store a preset
T une to the station you w ant to store as a pr eset.•
Press and • hold the Preset button.
‘Pr eset Store ’ will be displayed .
Press the • T une + or Tune - button repeatedly to choose
the preset number y ou want to stor e.
For each pr eset number the preset station currently stor ed will
be displayed or ‘(Empty)’ if none is stor ed .
Press the • V olume/Selec t contr ol to conrm if you want
to stor e the station in the displayed pr eset number .

Press the • Preset button briey.
