TO THE
FOLLOWING
FILLING
QUANTITIES
Never use your pressure cooker without liquid, as this will
seriously damage it. Make sure there is always enough liquid
throughout the cooking process.
Minimum quantity of liquid 250 ml/25 cl - fig 4.
Maximum quantity of food and liquid 2/3 of the height of the
pressure cooker pot, MAX 2 line - fig 5.
When steaming foods in the basket, the base of the steam
basket must not come into contact with the water and the food
should not exceed the MAX 2 line on the pot - fig 7.
For thick foods that swell in size and/or froth up during cooking,
such as rice, pulses, dried beans, stewed fruit, pumpkin,
courgettes, carrots, potatoes, fish fillets, etc., the maximum
filling quantity is 1/3 (MAX 1 line) - fig 6.
BEFORE
AND
DURING
COOKING
Keep children away when the pressure cooker is in use.
The ingenio® removable handle is not compatible with the pressure
cooker pot.
Steam is very hot when it is released from the operating valve (A).
Watch out for the upward steam jet.
Your pressure cooker cooks under pressure. Scalding injuries can
result from improper use. Make sure that the pressure cooker is
properly closed before using it. (See section “Closing”).
Make sure that the operating valve (A) is always ‘whispering’ during
cooking. If not enough steam is escaping, release the pressure and
open the lid. Check that there is enough liquid, and that the steam
release valve is unobstructed. Following these checks, if there is still
not enough steam being released, increase the heat slightly.
Do not cook food that could block the ducts of the safety devices:
- cranberries
- pearl barley, spelt, millet
- rolled oats
- split peas
- noodles, macaroni, spaghetti
- rhubarb
- blackcurrants, redcurrants, blueberries
For cooking large pieces of meat and foods with a surface skin
(whole sausages, tongue, poultry, etc.): we recommend that you
prick the skin before cooking using a knife or a fork . During cooking
they can trap boiling liquid and create hot splatters.
Never use your pressure cooker to make milk-based recipes (such
as rice pudding, semolina pudding) using animal sourced milk e.g
cows milk, goats milk,etc.
Never use your pressure cooker to fry food in oil under pressure.
Do not leave your pressure cooker unattended when heating oil
or fat. Continuing to heat an oil that smokes degrades it and may
raise its temperature enough for flames to appear.
3
4
Do not use your pressure cooker for any other purpose than
that for which it is intended.
Do not put your pressure cooker in a hot oven.
Never use aluminium foil unsecured on a container in your
pressure cooker. Always secure firmly with string.
Never use cling film in your pressure cooker.
Alcohol vapours are flammable. Bring to the boil for around
2 minutes before putting the lid on the pressure cooker.
Keep an eye on your pressure cooker on a regular basis when
cooking recipes that include alcohol.
Only use compatible heat sources, as indicated in these
operating instructions.
AFTER
COOKING...
Do not use whisks or metal or sharp utensils. Do not remove
food from your utensils by tapping on the rim of the pot, as
this may damage it and cause leaks.
Gradually turn the operating valve (A), selecting your
preferred pressure release speed, to face the symbol in
the pictogram - fig 9. If, when releasing the steam,
you notice any food or liquid start to spurt out, return the
operating valve (A) to the “Pressure cooker” mode position,
then rapidly release the pressure in cold water - (see section
“End of cooking in ‘Pressure cooker’ mode”).
If the pressure indicator (D) does not go down, place your
pressure cooker in cold water - (see section “End of cooking
in ‘Pressure cooker’ mode”).
Never interfere with the pressure indicator.
For thick foods that swell in size and/or froth up during
cooking, such as rice, pulses, dried beans, stewed fruit,
pumpkin, courgettes, carrots, potatoes, fish fillets, etc. Let
your pressure cooker cool for a few minutes, then cool it
down in cold water. Always gently shake the pressure
cooker before opening each time, after having checked
that the pressure indicator is fully lowered, in order to avoid
any bursting steam bubbles, which could burn you. This is
particularly important when releasing steam quickly or
after cooling in cold water.
5
EN
KEEP THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Always be careful when moving your pressure cooker. Do
not touch hot surfaces. Use oven gloves, if necessary. Lift
using the two handles on the pressure cooker pot.
For soups, we recommend that you release the pressure
rapidly in cold water (see section “End of cooking in
‘Pressure cooker’ mode”).
Make sure the operating valve (A) is in the steam release
position before opening your pressure cooker. The pressure
indicator (D) must be in the down position.
Never use force to open your pressure cooker. Make sure
that the internal pressure has been released. The pressure
indicator (D) must be in the down position. (See section
“Safety”).
MAINTENANCE
If you notice that any part of your pressure cooker is
broken or cracked, do not try to open it if it is closed
and under pressure. Wait for it to cool completely before
moving it, stop using it and return it to a Tefal approved
service centre for repair.
Do not tamper with the safety systems yourself, other
than when following the cleaning and maintenance
instructions.
Use only genuine Tefal parts corresponding to your model.
Do not leave food in the pressure cooker.
Clean and rinse your pressure cooker immediately after
each use.
Never put the following parts in the dishwasher: the
operating valve (A), the seal (H) and the non-stick coated
pressure cooker pot (L).
Never use bleach or chlorine products, which could aect
the quality of the coated aluminium.
Do not let the lid soak in water.
Change the seal every year or immediately if it shows
signs of cracking splits or breaks.
You must have your pressure cooker checked at an Tefal
approved service centre after 10 years of use.
To store your pressure cooker: Turn the lid over on the
pressure cooker pot to prevent the lid seal from becoming
prematurely worn.
6
Compulsory checks
before each use
Checking the operating valve (A)
Check that the drainage hole of the operating valve (A) is not blocked (see section
“Removing and installing the operating valve”).
Checking the safety valve (E)
Check that the safety valve plunger (E) moves easily (press the plunger several
times with your finger).

Make sure, during cooking, that the operating valve (A) ‘whispers’
regularly. If there is not enough steam, increase the heat slightly;
otherwise, reduce the heat.
EN
11
Cooking in “Express” mode
(Pressure cooker)
Turn the operating valve (A) to the “Express” pressure cooking position
(Pressure cooker) . The pressure cooker operates at 10 lbs (psi)/65 kPa.
Make sure that your pressure cooker is properly closed before use - fig 2.
Place your pressure cooker on a suitable heat source then set it to maximum
power.
The clicking sounds and jets of steam emitted by the pressure indicator are
normal, when bringing up to pressure, as the air escapes before cooking.
When cooking in “Express” mode
(Pressure cooker)
When the operating valve (A) continuously releases steam, emitting a
regular sound (PSCHHHT), reduce the heat.
Then start counting down the cooking time indicated in the recipe.
Make sure, during cooking, that the valve ‘whispers’ regularly. If not enough
steam is released, increase the heat slightly, otherwise reduce it. If there is
too much steam, reduce it.
End of cooking in “Express” mode
(Pressure cooker)
To open you must first release the steam:
Once the heat has been turned o, you have two options:
Gradual pressure release: gradually turn the operating valve (A) so that
it faces the mark on the pictogram - fig 9.
12
If, when releasing the steam, you observe food or liquid starts
to spray out, return the operating valve (A) to the “Express”
mode cooking position (Pressure cooking) , then follow the
instructions below for rapid pressure release in cold water.
If the pressure indicator (D) does not go down, run cold water in
your sink and immerse the bottom of your pressure cooker in it until
the pressure indicator (D) goes down.
Rapid pressure release in cold water: run cold water in your sink and
immerse the bottom of your pressure cooker in it until the pressure
indicator goes down. When the pressure indicator (D) goes down, your
pressure cooker is no longer under pressure. Turn the operating valve (A) to
position .
Step 1 Step 2
For thick foods that swell in size and/or froth up during cooking, such as rice,
pulses, dried beans, stewed fruit, pumpkin, courgettes, carrots, potatoes, fish
fillets, etc. Let your pressure cooker cool for a few minutes, then cool it down
in cold water. Always gently shake the pressure cooker before opening each
time, after having checked that the pressure indicator is fully lowered, in order
to avoid any bursting steam bubbles, which could burn you. This is particularly
important when releasing steam rapidly or after cooling in cold water. For soups,
we recommend that you perform a rapid pressure release in cold water (see
figure in Step 1 above)
You can open your pressure cooker - fig 3.
If you have diculty opening the pressure cooker: run the seal under water
and put it back in the lid without drying it - fig 16 and make sure to insert
the seal under the notches in the lid - fig 12.
Never tamper with the pressure indicator (D).
EN
13
Cooking in “Simmer” mode
Turn the operating valve (A) to the “Stew” cooking
position. To do this, apply sucient force to go beyond
the notch in the pressure release position.
Make sure that your pressure cooker is properly closed
- fig 2 before use.
Place your pressure cooker on a suitable heat source
and set it to a low heat.
Then start counting down the cooking time indicated in the recipe.
In “Simmer” mode, you can open your pressure cooker at any time to stir it,
monitor cooking or add ingredients.
If you have diculty opening the pressure cooker: run the seal under water
and put it back in the lid without drying it - fig 16 and make sure to place it
under the notches in the lid - fig 12.
If the heat is too high, the pressure cooker may lock (the pressure indicator
(D) rises and blocks the opening) and the lid handle cannot be operated or
does not allow the pressure cooker to be opened. In this case, reduce or turn
o the heat. For solid hotplates, remove the pressure cooker from the
heat source before opening the lid.
14
Safety
Your pressure cooker is equipped with several safety devices:
Safe closing:
- If the lid is incorrectly positioned or you forget to lower the lid handle, steam
will constantly be released from the pressure indicator (D) and it cannot
build up pressure.
Safe opening:
- If your pressure cooker is under pressure, the pressure indicator (D) is in the up
position and the lid handle (F) must not be opened or closed.
- Never open your pressure cooker using force.
- Never tamper with the pressure indicator (D).
- Ensure that the internal pressure has dropped by checking that the pressure
indicator (D) is down before opening the pressure cooker.
- The pressure cooker handles are safety parts. Make sure you never replace
them yourself. Never use other models of handles.
- If you have tilted the open/close lid handle (G). to the upright position, while
the pressure cooker was still under pressure, you cannot open it. This function
is an additional safety mechanism.
- In this circumstance, return the lid handle to the horizontal position and wait
for the pressure indicator (D) to move to the lower position.
Two safety devices for over-pressurisation:
- First device: the safety valve (E) releases the pressure - fig 17.
- Second device: the seal allows steam to escape from the lid - fig 17.
If one of the over-pressurisation safety systems is triggered:
Turn o the heat.
Leave your pressure cooker to cool completely.
Open it.
Check and clean the operating valve (A), the steam release vent (B), the
safety valve (E) and the seal (H) fig 13 - 14 - 15. Refer to the “Cleaning” and
“Compulsory checks before each use” sections.
If, after these checks and cleaning, your product leaks or is no longer working,
take it to a Tefal Approved Service Centre.
