Power supply and battery charge
WAP-R8900 contains a powerful rechargable NiMH battery, which allows many
hours of wireless operation for the WAP-R8900 system, due to high battery capacity
and the integrated power saving management of the WAP.
Before first wireless usage of your WAP-R8900, the battery requires
recharging.
Connect the power supply to the backside connector of the WAP and to mains. The
battery now will be charged.
You can verify the charging procedure by the charge symbol in the battery icon in
the LCD main screen, when the WAP is under operation.
In case of fully charged battery, the battery symbol changes its colour to green.
Battery status control (during operation without power supply): red = low, yellow =
medium, green = high.
The WAP can be operated completely, while charging.
Note: the charging control system even works when the WAP is switched to
Standby!
Note: If you aim for not using your WAP-R8900 for longer time, disconnect the
charger from mains and switch OFF the power switch on the WAP's backside, to
avoid unexpected discharge of the battery.
Under normal usage conditions (without attached storage devices, normal volume),
after full charge, the WAP might be operated for apprx. 5 hours before recharging
will be required. Attached storages or elevated listening volume, using navigation
functions etc. can reduce the battery operation time. For uninterrupted usage and
when using attached storages (USB-HDD, SD-card etc:) we recommend the usage
of the mains power supply.
Attention: Once the power supply is connected to WAP and to mains power, the
integrated battery management controls the battery recharge procedure and the
following tickle charging cares for keeping the battery fully charged – also, when the
main switch is switched OFF. Since tickle charge requires only low extra energy, the
power consumption is elevated just for a small amount also for continous operation.
The battery of your WAP will always be kept in best charging condition.
