Before Use

Read this before operation

< When the unit is turned on, switching on the TV may result in lines

appearing on the TV screen, depending on the condition of the

electric waves of the TV broadcast. This is not a malfunction of the

unit or the TV. In this case, turn off the unit.

< As the unit may become warm during operation, always leave

sufficient space around the unit for ventilation.

< The voltage supplied to the unit should match the voltage as

printed on the rear panel. If you are in any doubt regarding this

matter, consult an electrician.

< Choose the installation location of your unit carefully. Avoid placing

it in direct sunlight or close to a source of heat. Also avoid locations

subject to vibrations and excessive dust, heat, cold or moisture.

< Do not place the unit on an amplifier/receiver.

< Do not open the cabinet as this might result in damage to the

circuitry or an electrical shock. If a foreign object should get into

the set, contact your dealer or service agency.

< When removing the power plug from the wall outlet, always pull

directly on the plug, never yank the cord.

< Do not attempt to clean the unit with chemical solvents as this

might damage the finish. Use a clean, dry cloth.

< Keep this manual in a safe place for future reference.

< The operations are illustrated using the European model as the

example in this manual.

DO NOT MOVE THE UNIT DURING PLAYBACK

During playback, the disc rotates at a high speed. Do NOT lift or

move the unit during playback. Doing so may damage the disc.

WHEN MOVING THIS UNIT

When changing the place of installation or packing the unit for

moving, be sure to remove the disc and return the disc table to its

original position in the player. Then, press the STANDBY/ON button

to turn the standby, and disconnect the power cord. Moving this

unit with a disc loaded may result in damage to this unit.

Discs

Discs which can be played in this unit:

M Conventional audio CDs bearing the COMPACT DISC DIGITAL

AUDIO logo on the label.

M Properly finalized CD-R and CD-RW discs

M MP3/WMA CDs

Note:

< Depending on the quality of the disc and/or the condition of the

recording, some CD-R/CD-RW discs may not be playable.

< Copy-protected discs and other discs which do not conform to the

CD standard may not play back correctly in this player. If you use

such discs in this unit, TEAC Corporation and its subsidiaries cannot

be responsible for any consequences or guarantee the quality of

reproduction. If you experience problems with such non-standard

discs, you should contact the producers of the disc.

< Always place the disc on the disc tray with the label side facing up.

(Compact discs can be played or recorded only on one side.)

< To remove a disc from its storage case, press down on the center of

the case and lift the disc out, holding it carefully by the edges.

< If the disc becomes dirty, wipe the surface radially from the center

hole outward towards the outer edge with a soft, dry cloth.

< Never use chemicals such as record sprays, antistatic sprays or fluid

or thinner to clean the discs. Such chemicals will do irreparable

damage to the disc’s plastic surface.

< Discs should be returned to their cases after use to avoid dust and

scratches that could cause the laser pickup to ”skip”.

< Do not expose discs to direct sunlight or high humidity and

temperature for extended periods. Long exposure to high

temperatures will warp the disc.

< Do not play any disc that is warped, deformed or damaged.

Playing such discs may cause irreparable damage to the playing

mechanisms.

< CD-R and CD-RW discs are more sensitive to the effects of heat

and ultraviolet rays than ordinary CDs. It is important that they are

stored in a location where direct sunlight will not shine on them,

and which is away from sources of heat such as radiators or heat-

generating electrical devices.

< Printable CD-R and CD-RW discs are not recommended, as the

label side might be sticky and damage the unit.

< Do not stick papers or protective sheets on the discs and do not

use any protective coating sprays.

< Use a soft, oil-based felt-tipped pen to write information on the

label side. Never use a ball-point or hard-tipped pen, as this may

cause damage to the recorded side.

< Never use a stabilizer. Using commercially available CD stabilizers

with this unit will damage the mechanisms and cause them to

malfunction.

< Do not use irregularly shaped CDs (octagonal, heart shaped,

business card size, etc.). CDs of this sort may damage the unit.

< If you are in any doubt as to the care and handling of a CD-R/

CD-RW disc, read the precautions supplied with the disc, or contact

the disc manufacturer directly.

< This unit can play MP3 files recorded on various external USB

storage devices such as USB flash memory, MP3 player or HDD.

The HDD must be formatted in FAT 16 or FAT 32, not NTFS.

< When more than 2000 files are recorded on the USB memory, the

unit might not be able to play them correctly.

< File names of MP3 or WMA files should be in alphanumeric

characters. This unit cannot display symbols or full-size or double-

byte characters (such as Japanese, Chinese, etc.) correctly. Also, be

sure to use the file extension. (“.mp3” for MP3 files, “.wma” for WMA

files.)

< MP3 files are mono or stereo MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 format. This

unit can play MP3 files with a sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz or 48

kHz, and a bit-rate of 320 kbps or less.

< This unit can play WMA files with a sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz

and a bit-rate of 192 kbps or less.

WMA stands for Windows Media Audio.

< Audio encoded at 128 kbps should sound close to regular audio

CD quality. Although this player will play lower bit-rate MP3 files,

the sound quality becomes noticeably worse at lower bit-rates.

This unit can be connected to and used with the following iPod

models.

< You cannot use following models in “Direct Mode” of the Display

mode or for the timer:

iPod (5th generation)

iPod nano (1st/2nd generation)

See page 22 for information about the Display mode.

< This unit cannot output video from a connected iPod.

< To connect an iPod, use the USB cable supplied with the iPod.

< An iPod shuffle connected to this port cannot be played.

Compatible iPod Software

In case your iPod will not work with CD-P650 or with the remote

control unit, a software update may solve the problem.

Visit the Apple website and download the latest iPod software.

iPod Compatibility

USB Storage Devices

CAUTION

Never turn the unit off or disconnect a USB storage device

when it is being accessed, for example, during writing,

playback, recording or the erasure of files.

Doing so could damage the CD-P650 and the connected USB

storage device.

Compatibility

< Use a USB storage device with power consumption of less than

500mA.

< Some flash memory players that charge from a USB terminal

cannot be used for playback.

< This unit cannot copy or move files.

< Playable formats: FAT12, FAT16, FAT32

< NTFS, HFS and HFS+ formats cannot be used.

< Depending on the conditions of a USB storage device, this unit

might not be able to play the files on it or skipping might occur.

Recording

This unit can record sound from CDs to USB storage devices in MP3

format. See page 24 for details.

CAUTION

< Turn off the power of all the equipment before

making connections.

< Read the instructions of each component you

intend to use with this unit.

LINE OUT jacks

These jacks transmit an analog 2-channel audio signal. Connect

these jacks to the TUNER jacks of the amplifier (A-R650) with a

stereo RCA pin cable.

Be sure to connect the cable as follows:

< Be sure to insert each plug securely. To prevent hum and noise,

avoid bundling the signal connection cables together with the

AC power cord or speaker cables.

REMOTE CONTROL jack

If you have a TEAC A-R650, convenient system control operations

are available:

< When you press the PLAY button, the input selector of A-R650 is

set to “CD” automatically.

< When A-R650 is turned on while the input selector of A-R650 is

set to “CD“, playback of a CD will start automatically.

Connect the REMOTE CONTROL jack (A or B) to the REMOTE

CONTROL jack of A-R650 with the provided remote control

connection cord.

< You can use the following buttons of the remote control provided

with TEAC A-R650:

CD (switch the function of CD-P650 between “CD” and “USB”)

When the function is “CD”:

PLAY/PAUSE(t/J), STOP(H), ., /, REPEAT, SHUFFLE,

TIME, Numeric buttons (1 - 0)

When the function is “USB” (also for playback of an iPod):

PLAY/PAUSE(t/J), STOP(H), ., /, REPEAT, SHUFFLE

SELECTOR switch

If the REMOTE CONTROL jacks of this unit and A-R650 are

connected with the remote control connection cord, select

“SYSTEM“. You can use the remote control unit provided with

A-R650, and convenient system control operations will be

available.

When you don’t use the system control operations, or you don’t

have an A-R650, select “SINGLE“.

DIGITAL OUT terminal (optical)

Digital 2-channel audio signal is output from this terminal.

Connect it to the digital input terminal of a digital device such as

a D/A converter, etc.

Use a commercially-available optical digital cable.

AC power cord

After all other connections are complete, connect the plug to

the AC wall socket.

< Be sure to connect the power cord to an AC outlet which

supplies the correct voltage.

< Hold the power plug when plugging in or unplugging the

power cord.

The standby indicator turns red when the unit is in the standby

mode. When the unit is turned on, the indicator goes out.

Hold down this button to enter the recording setting mode.

Use this button to open and close the disc tray.

For private listening, insert the headphones plug into this jack.

Turn this knob to adjust the volume of the headphones.

iPod/USB port

Connect an iPod or external USB storage device.

Display

Remote sensor

When operating the remote control unit, point it towards the

remote sensor.

Skip/Search (.m/,/)

In CD/USB mode, use these buttons to skip tracks/files during

playback or in the stop mode of the CD or USB storage device.

In iPod mode, use these buttons to skip songs during playback or

in pause mode.

During playback, hold down these buttons to search for a track/

file/song.

Remote control unit

Numeric buttons

Use these buttons to select a track/file number.

For example, to select track/file number 25, press “2“ first then “5“.

To select numbers less than 10, press “0” and then the number. As

an example, to select number 5, press “0” then “5”. (Optionally, you

may press just the number “5” and wait for a few seconds.)

1/ALL

Use this button to select the repeat mode. (page 20)

A-B

Use this button to set the points for A-B repeat. (page 20)

FOLDER (5,b)

Use these buttons to select a folder of MP3/WMA files. (page 15)

SEARCH (m/,)

During playback, use these buttons to search for the part you want

to listen to. (page 16)

SHUFFLE

Use this button for shuffle playback. (page 19)

CLEAR

Use this button to clear a program. (page 19)

PROGRAM

Use this button to enter the program mode. (page 17)

Use this button to go back to the previous menu of the iPod. This

button is the equivalent to the MENU button on your iPod. (page

15)

ENTER

Use this button to select the folder and file. (page 15)

DISPLAY

During MP3/WMA file playback, use this button to change what

information is displayed. (page 21)

TIME

During playback, use this button to change the time display. (page

21)

Use these buttons to select an MP3/WMA file. (page 15)

In iPod mode, use this buttons to select a MENU item.

Use these buttons to skip tracks/files. (page 16)

Remote Control Unit

The provided remote control unit allows the unit to be operated from

a distance.

When operating the remote control unit, point it towards the remote

sensor on the front panel of the unit.

< Even if the remote control unit is operated within the effective

range, remote control operation may be impossible if there are any

obstacles between the unit and the remote control unit.

< If the remote control unit is operated near other appliances which

generate infrared rays, or if other remote control devices using

infrared rays are used near the unit, it may operate incorrectly.

Conversely, the other appliances may also operate incorrectly.

Battery Installation

1. Remove the battery compartment cover.

2. Insert two “AA” dry batteries. Make sure that the batteries are

inserted with their positive “+” and negative “_” poles positioned

correctly.

3. Close the cover.

Battery Replacement

If the distance required between the remote control unit and main

unit decreases, the batteries are exhausted. In this case replace the

batteries with new ones.

< For more information about collection of batteries, please contact

your local municipality, your waste disposal service or the point of

sale where you purchased the items.

Precautions Concerning Batteries

< Be sure to insert the batteries with the positive “+” and negative

“_” polarities positioned correctly.

< Use batteries of the same type. Never use different types of

batteries together.

< Rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries can be used. Refer

to the precautions on their labels.

< When the remote control unit is not to be used for a long time

(more than a month), remove the batteries from the remote control

unit to prevent them from leaking.

< If the batteries leak, wipe away the liquid inside the battery

compartment and replace the batteries with new ones.

< Do not use any batteries not specified. Do not mix new batteries

with old ones or use different types of batteries together.

< Do not heat or disassemble batteries and never throw them in fire

or water.

< Do not carry or store batteries with other metallic objects. The

batteries may short circuit, leak or explode.

< Never recharge a battery unless it is a verified rechargeable type.

How to turn the unit on or standby

Press the STANDBY/ON button to turn the unit on or put it in the

standby mode.

Standby/On indicator

The Standby/On indicator goes out when the unit is turned on.

The Standby/On indicator lights red when the unit is in the

standby mode.

< If A-R650 and this unit are connected with the remote control cord

when you turn on the system, the source that was selected last

time will start playback automatically.

How to select CD or USB

Every time the CD/USB button is pressed, the mode is alternated

between CD and USB.

Basic Operation

Listening through headphones

Insert the headphone plug into the PHONES jack, and adjust the

volume.

< The sound from speakers will not be cut off.

Press the CD/USB button to select “CD.”

Press the Open/close button (L).

Place a disc on the tray with the printed label facing up.

< The disc must be placed centrally into the disc tray. If the disc is

not placed correctly, it may not be possible to open the tray again

once it has closed.

< Never place more than one disc on the tray.

< Do not stick labels or tape on the disc.

< Do not use irregularly shaped discs.

Listening to a CD

Press the Open/close button (L) to close the tray.

< Be careful not to pinch your finger.

< It takes a few seconds for the unit to load a disc. No buttons will

work during loading. Wait until the total number of tracks/files and

the total play time of the disc are displayed.

Audio CD

The total number of tracks and total play time of the disc are

displayed.

< MP3/WMA files not contained in folders are automatically put in

the “ROOT“’ folder, and playback starts from the first file of the

ROOT folder.

< If there are folders that have no MP3/WMA file, this unit skips them.

< During playback of an MP3/WMA file, “title_artist_album“ is

scrolled across the display.

< The unit stops automatically when playback of all the tracks/files

has finished.

< If you load a disc, and then press the Play button (y) (or the

SHUFFLE button of the remote control unit) without having first

closed the disc tray, the disc tray closes and playback starts.

Listening to a USB Storage Device

You can play MP3/WMA files by connecting various external USB

storage devices such as USB flash memory.

Press the CD/USB button to select “USB”.

“Not connected” will be displayed if no USB device is connected.

Connect an external USB storage device to the unit.

When an HDD device is connected to this unit, it may take several

minutes to display the number of files.

Press the Play button (y).

Playback starts from the first file.

Press the CD/USB button to select “USB.”

Connect your iPod using the USB cable supplied with the

iPod.

The iPod automatically turns on and starts playback from the iPod

music list.

< If the display mode is set to “Extended mode” (see page 22),

playback don’t start automatically.

When the iPod is connected while CD-P650 is set to another

source, the iPod will turn on and enter the pause mode.

< The iPod battery will be fully recharged when the iPod is docked

and CD-P650 is turned on.

When you select “RDM Songs”, the iPod shuffles songs within the

list you choose to play.

When you select “RDM Album”, the iPod plays all the songs on an

album in order, then randomly selects another album in the list

and plays through that album in order, and so on.

CAUTION

< Do not disconnect the USB storage device during recording.

Do not disconnect the power cord during recording.

It may cause damage to the products.

< Adjust the volume of the external audio source to a suitable level

before recording. If not, the recording quality will be poor.

< The recorded files are saved in the AUDIO folder.

< The FILE NAME is assigned automatically in a regular sequence

such as “Audio001.MP3”, “Audio002.MP3”, …….

For Example:

If there are “Audio004.MP3” and “Audio009.MP3” files in the AUDIO

folder, and you make a recording, the new file will be “Audio010.

MP3”.

< Before recording check the remaining capacity of the USB storage

device using your PC.

You cannot check the remaining capacity with this unit.

< The maximum number of files that CD-P650 can operate is 1999.

If more than 1999 files are stored on the USB storage device,

CD-P650 can not play correctly, and cannot record any files.

< A track recorded onto a USB storage device is converted to an MP3

file at a bit rate of 64kbt, 96kbit, 128kbit or 192kbit.

Changing the display mode

You can select the iPod screen or CD-P650 display to show the

menu.

When an iPod is connected, hold down the MENU button for more

than 4 seconds to select which display is used.

Direct Mode (default)

You can control the iPod using the menu on the screen of the

iPod.

The display of CD-P650 constantly shows “Direct Mode”.

Extended mode

You can control the iPod using only CD-P650.

The TEAC logo appears on the iPod screen.

Information of the songs is displayed on the display of CD-P650.

< CD-P650 cannot display symbols or full-size or double-byte

characters (such as Japanese, Chinese, etc.) correctly. Song/Album/

Artist names of songs should be in alphanumeric characters.

< The logo does not appear on the screen of the iPod touch.

You can set the bit rate and recording speed, and select the number

of recorded songs (1 or all).

Press the CD/USB button repeatedly to select “CD”.

Hold down the RECORD button more than 2 seconds.

Recording to a USB Storage Device

Set the number of recorded songs to “1 song” or “CD ALL”.

Connect the external USB storage device to the USB port of

CD-P650.

Press the CD/USB button repeatedly to select “CD”.

Open the disc tray and place the audio CD to be recorded.

Then close the disc tray.

If “1 song” is selected in step

select a track using the

Press the RECORD button.

Depending on the selected setting, the selected song will be

recorded or recording starts from the beginning of the first song

on the CD.

Recording will stop automatically when playback of the single song

or of the final song on the CD has finished.

Deleting a file from a USB Storage Device

You can delete a file on the external USB storage device.

In the stop mode, use the FOLDER buttons (¥/˙) to select a

folder.

Press the ENTER button.

Use the FILE buttons (¥/˙) to select the file which you want

to delete from the USB storage device.

Hold down the CLEAR button for more than 4 seconds.

“Delete?” is displayed.

Within 3 seconds, press the CLEAR button again.

< The delete mode will be cancelled if you do not press the CLEAR

button within 3 seconds.

You can restore to factory setting.

While in the standby mode, hold down the Pause button

(J) and STANDBY/ON button simultaneously for more than

3 seconds.

The version will appear on the display

Unplug the AC power cord from the AC wall socket.

Wait a moment and plug the AC power cord to the AC wall

socket again.

Press the STANDBY/ON button to turn the unit on.

All the settings are reset to the factory settings.

In case of trouble with the unit, please take the time to look through

this chart and see if you can solve the problem yourself before you

call your dealer or TEAC service center.

General

No power

e Check the connection to the AC power source. Check and make

sure the AC source is not a switched outlet and if it is, that the

button is turned on. Make sure there is power to the AC outlet by

plugging in another item such as a lamp or fan.

No sound.

e Check the connection to the amplifier.

e Check the operation of the amplifier.

“Power protect” blinks on the display and CD-P650 enters the

standby mode.

e The power supply is unstable. After a brief interval, press the

STANDBY/ON button to turn the unit on.

“Over current” blinks on the display.

e USB storage devices with a power consumption of over 500mA

cannot be used other than when in USB mode. Disconnect the

USB storage device or switch to USB mode.

Remote control doesn’t work.

e If the batteries are exhausted, change the batteries.

e Use remote control unit within the range (5m) and point it at the

front panel.

e Make sure that there are no obstacles between the remote

control unit and the main unit.

e If a fluorescent light is on near the unit, turn it off.

e Set the REMOTE CONTROL SELECTOR to “SYSTEM“, and connect

the REMOTE CONTROL jacks of this unit and A-R650 with the

remote control connection cord, if you want to operate with the

remote control unit supplied with A-R650.

e When you use the remote control unit supplied with A-R650,

press the CD button of the remote control unit before operation.

CD Player

Will not play.

e Load a disc with the label side facing up.

e If the disc is dirty, clean the surface of the disc.

e A blank disc has been loaded. Load a prerecorded disc.

e Depending on the disc conditions, etc. it may not be possible to

play back a CD-R/RW disc. Try again with another disc.

e You cannot play back unfinalized CD-R/RW discs. Finalize such a

disc using a CD recorder and try again.

Sound skips.

e Place the unit on a stable surface to avoid vibration and shock.

e If the disc is dirty, clean the surface of the disc.

e Do not use scratched, damaged or warped discs.

Troubleshooting

iPod Player

Will not play.

e Remove the iPod from the USB port, wait for a few seconds, and

insert it again.

e A software update may solve the problem. Visit the Apple

website and download the latest iPod software.

Cannot operate the iPod.

e Make sure the HOLD switch of the iPod is not set to HOLD.

MP3/WMA

There is no sound even if the Play button (y) is pressed.

e Check whether there are MP3 or WMA files on the USB.

e Non-playable file formats (e.g MPEG 1 LAYER 2 file) cannot be

played.

“No title”, “No artist”, and “No album” appears on the display.

e There is no ID3 tag information for the music file.

Edit the title, artist, and album information of the song on a PC

using the MP3 or WMA making application.

Some unknown characters are displayed on the display panel.

e This unit cannot display symbols or full-size or double-byte

characters (such as Japanese, Chinese, etc.) correctly. File names

of MP3 or WMA should be in alphanumeric characters.

If normal operation cannot be recovered, unplug the power

cord from the outlet and plug it in again.

Maintenance

If the surface of the unit gets dirty, wipe with a soft cloth or use

diluted neutral cleaning liquid. Be sure to remove any fluid completely.

Do not use thinner or alcohol as they may damage the surface of the

unit.

correctement par cet appareil. Si vous utilisez de tels disques dans

cet appareil, TEAC Corporation et ses filiales ne peuvent être tenus

pour responsables d’aucune conséquence et ne garantissent pas la

qualité de reproduction. Si vous rencontrez des problèmes avec de

tels disques non standards, vous devez contacter les fabricants du

disque.

< Placez toujours le disque dans le lecteur avec ses inscriptions sur le

dessus (les Compact-Discs ne peuvent être lus ou enregistrés que

sur une face.)

< Pour retirer un disque de son boîtier, appuyez sur la rosace au

centre du boîtier et sortez le disque, en le tenant soigneusement

par la tranche.

< En cas de salissure du disque, essuyez la surface de façon radiale

(du trou central vers l’extérieur) avec un chiffon sec et doux.

< N’employez jamais de produits chimiques comme des bombes

pour disque, des bombes ou liquides antistatiques, ou du

diluant pour nettoyer les disques. Ils causeraient des dommages

irréparables à la surface plastique du disque.

< Les disques doivent être remis dans leur boîtier après usage pour

éviter la poussière et les rayures qui pourraient causer des ”sauts”

du capteur laser.

< N’exposez pas les disques directement au soleil ou à une humidité

et température élevées durant des périodes prolongées. Une

longue exposition à de fortes températures fera se gondoler le

disque.

< Ne faites pas reproduire un disque gondolé, déformé ou

endommagé. Faire reproduire de tels disques peut causer des

dommages irréparables aux mécanismes de lecture.

< Les CD-R et CD-RW sont plus sensibles aux effets de la chaleur et

des rayons ultraviolets que les CD ordinaires. Il est important de

ne pas les conserver dans un lieu soumis directement aux rayons

du soleil, et de les tenir éloignés de sources de chaleur comme des

radiateurs ou des appareils électriques producteurs de chaleur.

< Les disques imprimables ne sont pas recommandés car la face avec

étiquette peut être collante et risque d’endommager l’appareil.

< Ne collez pas de papiers ou de feuillets de protection sur les

disques et n’employez aucune bombe diffusant un revêtement

protecteur.

< Utilisez un stylo feutre doux à base d’huile pour inscrire les

informations du côté inscriptible. N’utilisez jamais de stylo bille ou

à pointe dure car cela pourrait endommager la face enregistrée.

< N’employez jamais de stabilisateurs. L’emploi dans cet appareil de

stabilisateurs de CD disponibles dans le commerce endommagera

les mécanismes et conduira à leur mauvais fonctionnement.

< N’employez pas de disque de forme particulière (octogonal, en

forme de coeur, de taille carte de visite, etc.). Ces types de disque

peuvent endommager l’appareil.

< En cas de doute sur l’entretien et le maniement d’un CD-R/CD-RW

disque, lisez les précautions données avec le disque, ou contactez

directement le fabricant du disque.

< Cette unité peut lire les fichiers MP3 enregistrés sur divers supports

de stockage USB externes tels qu’une mémoire flash USB, un

lecteur MP3 ou un disque dur.

Le disque dur doit être formaté en FAT 16 ou FAT 32, pas en NTFS.

< Si plus de 2000 fichiers sont enregistrés dans la mémoire USB,

l’appareil risque de ne pas pouvoir les lire correctement.

< Le nom des fichiers MP3 ou WMA doit être constitué de caractères

alphanumériques. Cet appareil ne peut pas correctement afficher

les symboles ni les caractères à double octet (Japonais, Chinois,

etc.). Veillez bien aussi à utiliser l’extension de fichier “.mp3” pour

les fichiers MP3 et “.wma” pour les fichiers WMA.

< Les fichiers MP3 sont au format MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 mono ou

stéréo. Cet appareil peut reproduire les fichiers MP3 avec une

fréquence d’échantillonnage de 44,1 kHz ou 48 kHz et un débit

binaire de 320 kb/s ou moins.

< Cet appareil peut reproduire les fichiers WMA avec une fréquence

d’échantillonnage de 44,1 kHz et un débit binaire de 192 kb/s ou

moins.

WMA signifie Windows Media Audio.

< L’audio encodé à 128 kb/s doit avoir une qualité sonore proche de

celle d’un CD audio ordinaire. Bien que ce lecteur puisse lire des

morceaux MP3 à des débits binaires inférieurs, la qualité sonore est

alors notablement moins bonne.

< Quand l'A-R650 est mis sous tension avec son sélecteur d’entrée

réglé sur “CD“, la lecture du CD démarre automatiquement.

Boîtier de télécommande

Le boîtier de télécommande fourni permet la commande à distance

de l’appareil.

Pour utiliser le boîtier de télécommande, pointez-le vers le capteur de

télécommande du panneau avant de l’appareil.

< Même si le boîtier de télécommande est employé à portée de

fonctionnement, la commande à distance peut être impossible s’il

y a des obstacles entre l’appareil et le boîtier de télécommande.

< Si le boîtier de télécommande est employé à proximité d’autres

appareils générant des rayons infrarouges, ou si d’autres

télécommandes utilisant des rayons infrarouges sont utilisées près

de l’appareil, ce dernier peut ne pas bien fonctionner.

Dans la situation inverse, les autres appareils peuvent ne pas bien

fonctionner.

Mise en place des piles

1. Retirez le couvercle du compartiment des piles.

2. Insérez deux piles sèches “AA”. Assurez-vous que les piles sont

correctement insérées et respectent les polarités plus “+” et moins

“_”.

3. Refermez le couvercle.

Remplacement des piles

Si vous remarquez que la distance de fonctionnement correct entre le

boîtier de télécommande et l’appareil se réduit, c’est que les piles sont

usées. Dans ce cas, remplacez-les par des neuves.

< Pour plus d’informations sur la collecte des piles usagées, veuillez

contacter votre mairie, votre service d’ordures ménagères ou le

point de vente dans lequel vous avez acheté les articles.

Précautions à observer concernant les piles

< Assurez-vous d’insérer les piles en respectant les polarités plus “+”

et moins “_”.

< Utilisez des piles du même type. N’utilisez jamais des types de pile

différents ensemble.

< Des piles ou des batteries rechargeables peuvent être utilisées.

Référez-vous à leurs étiquettes pour les précautions à respecter.

< Si la télécommande ne doit pas être utilisée durant une période

prolongée (plus d’un mois), retirez ses piles pour éviter qu’elles ne

coulent.

< Si les piles coulent, essuyez le liquide dans le compartiment des

piles et remplacez les piles par des neuves.

< N’utilisez pas d’autres piles que celles spécifiées. Ne mélangez pas

des piles neuves avec des anciennes et n’utilisez pas ensemble des

types de pile différents.

< Ne chauffez pas et ne démontez pas les piles et ne les jetez jamais

dans un feu ou dans de l’eau.

< Ne conservez et ne transportez pas les piles avec d’autres objets

métalliques. Une pile pourrait entrer en court-circuit, couler ou

exploser.

< Ne rechargez jamais une batterie sans avoir vérifié qu’elle peut

l’être.

Comment allumer ou éteindre l’appareil

Appuyez sur la touche STANDBY/ON pour allumer l’appareil ou le

Chaque fois que l’on appuie sur la touche CD/USB, le mode alterne

entre CD et USB.

vers le haut.

< Le disque doit être centré dans le tiroir. Si le disque n’est pas

correctement positionné, le tiroir risque de ne pas pouvoir s’ouvrir

après s’être refermé.

< Ne mettez jamais plus d’un disque dans le tiroir.

< Ne collez pas d’étiquettes ni de ruban adhésif sur le disque.

< N’utilisez pas de disques aux formes irrégulières.

Écoute d’un CD

Appuyez sur la touche d’ouverture/fermeture (L) pour

fermer le tiroir.

< Tenez vos doigts à l’écart du tiroir de disque quand il bouge pour

éviter de vous les faire coincer.

< Il faut quelques secondes à l’appareil pour charger un disque.

< L’appareil s’arrête automatiquement quand la lecture de tous les

< Si vous changez un disque puis appuyez sur la touche de

lecture (y) (ou sur la touche SHUFFLE de la télécommande)

Vous pouvez reproduire des fichiers MP3/WMA en branchant divers

Branchez votre iPod à l’aide du câble USB fourni avec

l’iPod.

L’iPod se met automatiquement sous tension et lance la lecture à

partir de sa liste de titres.

< Si l’affichage est réglé en «mode étendu» (voir page 46), la lecture

ne démarre pas automatiquement.

Si l’iPod est branché alors que le CD-P650 est réglé sur une autre

source, l’iPod s’allume et passe en pause.

< La batterie de l’iPod sera entièrement rechargée si l’iPod est

connecté avec le CD-P650 sous tension.

< Quand l’iPod est branché au CD-P650, la prise casque de l’iPod ne

produit plus de son.

< En mode USB, aucun son n’est produit pendant la recherche.

< L’appareil s’arrête quand la fin du dernier fichier/piste est atteinte.

ajouté au programme.

Suppression d’un fichier sur support USB

Vous pouvez supprimer un fichier sur le support USB.

En mode d’arrêt, appuyez sur les touches FOLDER (¥/˙)

pour sélectionner un dossier.

fichier que vous souhaitez supprimer du support USB.

Cómo encender y apagar la unidad

< El disco deberá quedar centrado en la bandeja. Si el disco no se

inserta correctamente, la bandeja podría quedar bloqueada y no

abrirse, por lo que conviene cargarlo debidamente centrado.

< No coloque nunca más de un disco en la bandeja.

< No pegue etiquetas ni adhesivos en el disco.

< No utilice discos con formas irregulares.

Escuchar un CD

Pulse el botón de apertura/cierre (L) para cerrar la

< Mantenga los dedos alejados de la bandeja móvil para evitar que

queden atrapados.

< La unidad tarda algunos segundos en cargar un disco. Ningún

Escuchar un dispositivo USB

Puede reproducir archivos MP3/WMA conectando diversos

dispositivos de almacenamiento USB, como por ejemplo una

memoria flash USB.

Pulse el botón CD/USB repetidamente para seleccionar

“USB”.

“Not connected” (no conectado) aparecerá en la pantalla si no hay

ningún dispositivo USB conectado.

Conecte el dispositivo de almacenamiento externo USB a la

unidad.

Cuando se conecta un disco duro a esta unidad, puede llevar varios

Si surge algún problema con la unidad, dedique unos instantes a

revisar los siguientes puntos por si puede solucionar el problema sin

necesidad de acudir al distribuidor o centro de servicio técnico TEAC.

General

No hay corriente.

e Verifique la conexión con la toma de corriente eléctrica.

Compruebe que la toma no es una toma con interruptor y que,

si lo es, el interruptor no está activado. Compruebe que llega

corriente en la toma de electricidad conectando otro aparato,

como por ejemplo una lámpara o un ventilador.

No hay sonido

e Compruebe la conexión del amplificador.

e Compruebe que el amplificador funcione correctamente.

“Power protect” (protección eléctrica) parpadea en la pantalla

y el CD-P650 entra en el modo de reposo (standby).

e Loa corriente eléctrica es inestable. Después de un breve

intervalo, pulse el botón STANDBY/ON para encender la unidad.

“Over current” (sobrecarga de corriente) parpadea en la

pantalla.

e No se puede usar un dispositivo de almacenamiento USB con

un consumo de corriente de más de 500mA excepto cuando

está seleccionado el modo USB. Desconecte el dispositivo de

almacenamiento USB o cambie a modo USB.

El control remoto no funciona.

e Si las pilas están gastadas, cámbielas.

e Emplee el mando a distancia dentro del rango de alcance (5 m) y

apunte al panel frontal.

e Retire los obstáculos situados entre el control remoto y el equipo.

e Si hay una luz fluorescente cerca del equipo, apáguela.

e Si desea usar el mando a distancia suministrado con el A-R650,

ponga el selector REMOTE CONTROL en “SYSTEM“, y conecte las

tomas REMOTE CONTROL de esta unidad y del A-R650 con el

cable de conexión de control remoto.

e Cuando utilice el mando a distancia suministrado con el AH380,

pulse el botón CD del mando a distancia antes de la operación.

Reproductor de CD

No se inicia la reproducción.

e Inserte el disco con la cara grabada hacia arriba.

e Si el disco está sucio, limpie su superficie.

e Puede haber insertado un disco vacío. Pruebe con uno

pregrabado.

e Dependiendo del formato o condiciones del disco, etc., quizá no

sea posible reproducir discos CD-R/RW. Vuelva a intentarlo con

otro disco.

e No se pueden reproducir discos CD-R/RW que no hayan sido

finalizados. Finalice el disco en una grabadora de CD e inténtelo

de nuevo.

Hay saltos en la reproducción del sonido.

e Coloque la unidad sobre una superficie estable, sin riesgos de

vibraciones o impactos.

e Si el disco está sucio, limpie su superficie.

e No utilice discos rayados, dañados o deformados.

Solución de posibles fallos

No reproduce.

e Quite el iPod del conector USB, espere unos segundos y

conéctelo de nuevo.

e La actualización del software puede resolver el problema. Visite la

web de Apple y descargue el último software para iPod.

No se puede manejar el iPod.

e Asegúrese de que el interruptor HOLD del iPod no está puesto en

la posición “HOLD”.

MP3/WMA

No hay sonido incluso aunque está pulsado el botón de

reproducción (y).

e Compruebe que hay archivos MP3 o WMA en el dispositivo USB.

e Está intentando reproducir formatos de archivo no reproducibles

(por ejemplo archivos MPEG 1 LAYER 2).

“No title”, “No artist” y “No album” aparecen en la pantalla.

e No hay información de etiqueta ID3 para el archivo de música.

Edite la información de título, artista y álbum de la canción en

un PC utilizando una aplicación de creación de archivos MP3 o

WMA.

En la pantalla aparecen algunos caracteres desconocidos.

e Esta unidad no puede mostrar en pantalla símbolos o caracteres

a tamaño completo o de doble byte (como los japoneses, chinos,

etc.) correctamente. Los nombres de los archivos MP3 o WMA

deben ser caracteres alfanuméricos.

Si no se puede recobrar el funcionamiento normal,

desenchufe el cable de corriente de la toma eléctrica y vuelva

a enchufarlo.

Mantenimiento

Si la superficie de la unidad se ensucia, límpiela con un paño suave

o utilice un líquido limpiador neutro diluido. Asegúrese de que no

quedan restos de fluido después de la limpieza. No utilice disolvente,

bencina o alcohol ya que pueden dañar la superficie de la unidad.
