Searching and Entering a Destination
This section contains a detailed insight into the primary functionality of Sygic GPS Navigation. The
following articles will explain how to create, manage and save routes. Let’s return to the Map overview
screen and try pressing the screen once. Notice the change of the bottom-side menu when pressing the
screen – Either the actual time and your current speed will be displayed along without a Menu Button, or
the Search button, Favorites button and a Menu button.

Map-tap Navigating
The basic way to enter your destination is Map-tap Navigating. It allows you to select your destination by
selecting a point from the map in map browsing mode without needing to type an address. Although not
as many options are available by entering your destination like this, it is still an effective way to navigate.
Notice the difference between Map Browsing mode and Navigating mode depicted in the screenshots
below – Map Browsing mode is activated by pressing and scrolling the screen and allows you to browse
freely in the map, displays the compass, Search, favorites and Menu options as well as an option to
return to Navigating mode (icon directly above the compass). Navigating mode locks on to your current or
last known position, the current street name will be displayed as well. notice the disappearing of the left-
hand side options (compass, switch to navigating mode). The Search, Favorites and Menu options are
now hidden and will be shown once you press the screen once.
Navigating mode Map Browsing mode
Enter map browsing mode and select the point in the map you wish to navigate to. Additional information
about the selected point will appear in a bubble and will contain the Address of the point and an
approximate distance from your current position. If you tap the bubble, the POI Details will appear. From
here you have two options:
1) Navigate to the selected point from the map (Press Get Directions in the POI Details screen)

2) Select a nearby POI (Press Get Directions in the POI Details screen)
Map Browsing mode Select a point on the map Scroll to display nearby POIs Select a POI
Notice that the Nearby POI option allows you to filter the POIs not only using search, but also in groups.
Selecting a POI will show in on the map first and you need to enter the POI details again to actually

navigate to it. Once you select the Get directions option, a route will be calculated and you will enter the
Basic Route overview window.
Map-tap navigating also allows you to add a Pass-by or via-point from the map while a route is already
established. You need to enter Map Browsing mode when a route is created, then add the point:
Pass-by points are available if you select an area, like a city, district, etc.
Via-Points can be added as specific POIs or addresses.
Once you add a Pass-by or Via-point, the route will be recomputed.

The Search Bar
The Search Bar serves to find your destination in a number of ways. Most of your input when creating a
route goes through here. To actually enter the Search bar, you need to tap the Search icon from the bottom
of the screen. The icon is available in Map Browsing mode, or you need to press the screen once when in
Navigating mode.
Map Browsing mode Navigating mode Additional options in Navigating mode
A number of new fields will appear – The search field itself with your current country predefined, a number
of suggestions with Nearby POIs listed on top, an “X” at the end of the line and a “+” Icon. Each of these
represent an option you can use to put in your destination.

Entering your destination
You can enter your destination using a combined system of your input and suggestions given by Sygic
based on the information given and available. Notice that once you start typing your destination, Sygic will
give you a number of suggestions. Fill in your destination by intuitively entering a few letters and then
choosing from the suggestions to save time and decrease the amount of touches you would usually
spend by entering a full address.
Search button
Once your input of your destination address is complete, simply tap the play button in the bottom-side
panel of the screen. Once you press this button, a route will be calculated and you will enter the Basic
Route overview window. You can also discard your input by pressing the “x” icon in the bottom-side panel
of the screen, so be careful!
Below is a simple example. The option to start navigating will be able to calculate a route from the point you
select a city. Sygic will then select the city center as the default destination. If you select a street that
has defined house numbers, it will navigate you to either the beginning or end of the street.

Entering waypoints
Once you enter your destination, you might want to add waypoints you wish to stop by on the road:
1. Enter the Search field
2. tap the “+” icon at the end of the search bar. Notice that another line will appear above and the list will
change.
3. You can now enter either a waypoint, enter your destination or change your current position. You can
add a large number of waypoints this way.
To remove a waypoint, all you need to do is tap the “x” icon at the end of the line (as opposite to the “+”
icon next to the line with your destination address).
Once you are finished entering your waypoints, simply tap the play button in the bottom-side panel of the
screen – a route will be calculated and you will enter the Basic Route overview window. You can also
discard your input by pressing the “x” icon in the bottom-side panel of the screen, so be careful!

Navigating to GPS Coordinates
Your first step before entering GPS coordinates in the search bar will lead to the clearing of the pre-
defined country. Tap the “x” icon at the end of the line to do this. Once done, please enter your GPS
coordinates. You can enter them in one of the supported formats:

Crashing, freezing, not starting at all
If Sygic exits without an apparent reason, freezes while performing an operation or doesn’t start at all, then
you might want to check if you don’t have many additional apps running. Sygic relies heavily on your
device’s hardware and memory.
If your device’s hardware is OK, then please restart your device. If that doesn’t help, then you might want
to consider Resetting to defaults. As a last resort, reinstall Sygic:
1. Find it in the list of apps
2. Press and hold Sygic to display the additional options
3. Press remove to uninstall Sygic from your device.
4. Install Sygic back from Store and try again
If you still experience the issue, please Submit feedback from our app (if possible), or contact our Support
Team in case you can’t run the app at all.

Connection issues
To access certain sections of Sygic, you need to have an active internet connection. If you receive an
error message while trying to enter these Sections (Signing in, downloading maps, entering Sygic Store or
downloading voices), check your current connection, if you don’t have a firewall, antivirus or other app
blocking Sygic’s access to the internet.
If you still aren’t able to access the internet, then try using a different connection (other WiFi, 3G). If you
can’t connect to the internet in Sygic only, then you need to Reset to defaults.
If you still experience the issue, please Submit feedback from our app (if possible), or contact our Support
Team in case you can’t run the app at all.

Route calculation errors
These are two most common routing errors you might encounter while using Sygic GPS Navigation.
1) Download Missing Map error:
This error usually occurs when you are creating a route between multiple countries and are missing
crucial maps of countries that need to be passed through (for example, if you create a route from
Spain to Germany, but are missing the map of France, or from California to Washington without the
maps of Oregon or Idaho).
To avoid this error, make sure that all maps necessary for the route are installed. If you don’t have
it installed, simply zoom in the map above the missing state until you see the option to download it.
If you are pre-planing your route overseas, make sure to change your current position when
creating the route, so that the route isn’t calculated from your current position.
2) Route Calculation Has Failed, Roads Limit Reached:
The route is too long. If you would try to calculate a route from, for example, Lisbon to Moscow, the
limit would be exceeded before the route would be calculated and you will receive this error message
The route is long whit a specific settings. The route would be normally calculated, but because of
the specific settings, as for example highway avoidance, the route possibilities would be exceeded
before the route would be calculated.
You will set starting of finishing point in a no-drive zone. In this case, the application would try to
calculate the route which cannot be calculated and will go on with the calculation until the limit would
be reached.
If none of the descriptions above match your case, please contact our support team.
If you still experience the issue, please Submit feedback from our app , or contact our Customer support
directly in case you need more support or encounter an error not listed in this section.
