2Safety notices
2Safety notices
2.1Re: Operating Manual
Read this operating manual completely before working with the appliance.
Keep the operating manual for reference.
Include the operating manual if you pass the appliance on to someone
else. Non-compliance with these instructions can lead to serious injuries or
damage to the appliance.
Important notes for your safety are especially marked. Always observe
these notices to avoid accidents and damage to the appliance.
We take no responsibility for damages due to violations of these operating
instructions.
2.2Re: Certain groups of persons
This appliance is not intended to be used by persons (including
children) with impaired physical, sensorial or mental abilities and/or
insufficient experience or knowledge, unless they are supervised by a
person responsible for their safety or have been instructed in the proper
use of the appliance by this person. Children should be supervised in order
to make sure that they don’t play with the appliance. Keep the appliance
out of reach of people of these groups.
Packing material must not be used to play with. There is danger of
suffocation.
People with sensory problems, especially with reduced sensitivity for
temperature differences, must use great caution when working with this
appliance.
2.3Re: Power supply
The appliance runs on electricity -- that means there is a general risk of
electric shock. So please especially observe the following:
Never touch the mains plug with wet hands.
Always pull directly at the plug if you want to disconnect the appliance
from the mains. Never pull on the cable as this could damage it.
Never carry the appliance by its power cord. It could be damaged.
Take care that the power cord is not bent, pinched, rolled over or gets
in contact with heat sources. Also take care that it does not become a
stumbling-hazard.
Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids. Make sure that
only the water tank and its filler opening come into contact with water. Keep
other parts of the appliance away from rain and moisture.
Before connecting to the power supply, make sure that the voltage
stated on the type plate matches the voltage of your plug socket. Only use
sockets with a ground/safety contact.
If possible, avoid using extension cords. If you must use an extension
cord, use only safety-certified, water-protected single extension cords (no-
multi-socket distributors) designed for the power consumption of the
appliance.
Only fill up the water tank after completing cleaning and when the mains
plug is pulled out.
Always check the power cord for possible damages before using the
appliance. If the power cord of the appliance is damaged it must be
replaced by the manufacturers, their authorised service representative or a
similarly qualified person to avoid danger.
2.4Regarding hot steam
The appliance produces hot steam for cleaning with a temperature of
approx. 100°C. Various hazards are associated with the hot steam. So
please especially observe the following:
Never direct the steam jet at persons, animals or plants. There is a
danger of scalding. Always point the steam jet downwards towards the
surface to be cleaned. Even then, take care that parts of your body never
get under the steam base during operation.
Do not direct the steam jet at electrical appliances, plug sockets,
cables, etc. There is a risk of electric shock.
Never lay the appliance on its side during operation. Never use the
appliance in a horizontal position, let alone over your head.
Do not use the appliance to clean containers that are filled with water,
other liquids or loose substances. Hot liquid or particles could be thrown
out.
The appliance continues running Even after you have pulled the mains
plug from the socket, hot steam will be available for approx. another 5
minutes. This will escape when the pressure is high enough or when the
pump mechanism is operated accidentally.
Allow the cleaning cloth and other hot appliance parts to cool down
before touching them.
Take care not to use the steam cleaner on one spot for a longer period
of time. Otherwise, the surface to be cleaned might be damaged.
Provide adequate ventilation during and after your cleaning-work.
2.5Re: Appropriate Use
This appliance may only be used in households. It is not suitable for
industrial or commercial use.
Only use the steam cleaner in households for cleaning normally dirty
hard floors, e.g. tiles, stone floors, parquet, laminate flooring and other
smooth surfaces that can withstand the high temperature, the pressure and
the moisture of hot steam.
With the optional carpet glider base, the steam cleaner may also be
used for cleaning/refreshing short-pile carpets.
Any other use is considered inappropriate and is prohibited. It is
especially forbidden:
To clean:
-Persons, animals or plants, including clothing that is still being worn.
-Surfaces that are dirtied by substances hazardous to health. The hot
steam can dissolve these substances and disperse them in the
environment.
-Textiles, leather, furniture, window panes.
-Unsealed, lacquered, oiled or waxed wood or parquet flooring, as
well as glass and soft plastic surfaces. These might be damaged.
-Glossy plastics. The plastic can become matte by the steam.
-Textiles made from acrylic, Dralon, velvet or linen. These materials
could be damaged by the temperature of the steam.
To fill the water tank with liquids other than water or with water additives
(e. g. cleaning agents, etc.). Additives can be dangerous to your health or
destroy the appliance.
Use the appliance near explosive or easily flammable substances or on
pressurized containers. There is a risk of fire or explosion or of the
containers bursting.
To use the appliance outdoors. There is danger of rain and dirt
destroying the appliance.
To operate it with the water tank empty..
To use the appliance without a clean microfibre cloth.
To use the appliance in a horizontal position or even over your head.
To modify or repair the appliance on your own.
2.6Use the appliance if it is defective
Never use a defective appliance or operate an appliance with a
defective power cord.
Refer a defective appliance to an authorised dealer or the Domostar
service for repair. Address Z see last page.

4Operation
4Operation
4.1Steam cleaning
1.Before starting the appliance, check that the water tank is full and the
attached microfibre cleaning-cloth is clean.
2.Insert the plug into the plug socket. The green operating indicator light
(fig. 1/10) lights up. The appliance is now heating up.
3.Wait approx. 30 seconds until the appliance has built up steam.
4.Now moisten the cleaning cloth by repeatedly (approx. 3 to 5 times)
pumping with the handle (Fig. 6).
5.To steam-clean, move the appliance back and forth slowly like a
vacuum cleaner. The pushing-pulling motion will produce the steam
required for cleaning.
6.Turn the appliance by 180° (Fig. 7) as soon as one side of the cleaning
cloth is soiled.
WARNING:
Danger of injury! Check appliance and power cord before each use. A
damaged appliance must never be used.
ATTENTION:
Before starting cleaning, check whether the particular floor surface is
suitable for steam cleaning. Always follow the cleaning
recommendations of the flooring manufacturers. Otherwise, the floor
might be damaged. Glass surfaces can shatter as a result of heat shock.
ATTENTION:
Operate the appliance only with the water tank filled and a clean
microfibre cloth attached.. Otherwise the appliance and the flooring
might suffer damage. When using the appliance, check the water level in
the tank's viewing-window (Fig. 1/1) occasionally.
NOTE:
The steam cleaner has an overheating protection device. It will switch off
automatically if overheated (e.g. due to an empty water tank). If this
happens, pull the mains plug and refill the water tank Zchapter 3.3,
„Filling the water tank“. Wait for about 45 minutes. Once the steam
cleaner has cooled down you can switch it on again.
NOTE:
Your steam cleaner is not suitable for deep cleaning carpets or for
removing stubborn stains. To remove stubborn stains, we recommend
working on the stain beforehand with a chemical cleaner, provided the
particular flooring permits this.
NOTE:
It is recommended to first sweep or vacuum-clean floors before using
the steam cleaner on them.
6
7
WARNING:
Risk of scalding! Always point the steam jet downwards towards the
surface to be cleaned. Never lay the appliance on its side during
operation. Using the appliance in a horizontal position or even over your
head is forbidden.
WARNING:
Danger of falling! Always be especially careful when cleaning smooth
floors as well as steps and stairs! Only work with moderate steam
pressure when cleaning smooth floors, otherwise a moisture film will be
left on the floor. Using less steam also ensures quicker drying and
reduces the risk of slipping.
ATTENTION:
Before connecting the plug to the power supply, make sure that the
voltage stated on the type plate matches the voltage of your plug socket.
Only use plug sockets with a grounding contact.
NOTE:
During first operation it may be necessary to pump10 to 12 times with
the handle during the preheating cycle (Fig.6before you can hear and
see steam being delivered..
ATTENTION:
Do not leave the appliance standing still when in operation. Keep it
moving continuously Otherwise there is increased danger of damaging
the floor.
NOTE:
You can increase the ejected amount of steam and the wetness of the
cleaning cloth as needed by repeated pumping with the handle.
