General information before use
Scales on the water containers facilitate –
lling them with the correct amount
of clean water. With a dual-scale, the
le scale is used for regular-sized cups
of approx.125ml, while the right scale is
used for smaller cups. Make sure that the
indicated maximum is not exceeded.
e hot-plates remain hot until the –
appliance has been switched o completely
(with both switches in their O -position).
If several consecutive brewing cycles are z
required, switch o the co ee maker a er
each cycle and let it cool down for approx.
5 minutes.
Important note: z When lling the
appliance with fresh water shortly a er
a brewing cycle is completed, there is
a danger of scalding from hot water or
steam escaping through the water outlet.
Before using for the rst time
Before making co ee for the rst time, let the
appliance go through two or three ltration
cycles without using ground co ee. is
should also be done if the appliance has not
been used for an extended period of time,
and a er descaling.
Making co ee
Filling with water: –
Open the water container lid, ll the container
with the desired quantity of clean, cold water
(using the glass carafe) and close the lid.
Inserting the paper lter: –
Open the swing-out lter holder and insert
a size-4 paper lter, rst folding down the
perforated sides of the lter.
Filling with ground co ee: –
For each regular-sized cup (125ml), a measure
of about 6 g (= 1½ - 2 teaspoons) of medium
or nely ground co ee will be required. For
smaller cups, about 4g = 1 - 1½ teaspoons
will be required. Close the swing-out holder
a erwards.
Preparing the glass carafe: –
Make sure to t the lid onto the glass
carafe before placing it onto the hot-plate.
If correctly inserted, the lid will disable the
drip-stop mechanism in the swing-out lter
during the brewing cycle.
Starting the brewing cycle: –
Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet and
use the appropriate On/O switch to turn on
the side of the co ee maker to be used. e
ltration cycle starts.
Removing the freshly brewed co ee: –
Wait until all the water has passed through
the lter before removing the carafe from the
appliance.
Switching o the co ee maker: –
e co ee may be kept warm inside the
carafe by leaving it standing on the hot-plate.
e plate stays warm until the appliance is
switched o completely (with both switches
in their O -position). Always switch o a er
use.
Making tea
Filling with water: –
Open the container lid and ll the container
with the desired quantity of clean, cold water.
Caution: Do not put in more than max. 7
cups of water. Close the lid.
Filling with tea leaves: –
To load the tea lter, take o its top by turning
anti-clockwise, put in the required amount of
tea leaves and close again.
Compared with traditional tea-brewing, only
a reduced amount of tea leaves should be
used, as the yield of the leaves is higher when
using this appliance.
Inserting the tea lter: –
Insert a tea lter into the glass carafe.
Preparing the carafe: –
Make sure to t the lid onto the glass carafe
before placing it onto the hot-plate. Keep the
swing-out lter closed.
Starting the brewing cycle: –
Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet and
use the appropriate On/O switch to turn on
the side of the co ee maker to be used. e
ltration cycle starts.
Removing the freshly brewed tea: –
