6.5 Connecting the appliance to the chimney
With a top connection, the appliance can be connected directly
to the chimney. If you opt for a rear connection, the connector
must be turned one quarter. This is performed as follows:
1. Remove the fire-bricks on the left and right
2. Then remove the baffle plate
3. Now unscrew the 2 screws of the connector
4. Turn the connector and follow the above procedure in
reverse order
For connection onto a flexible pipe (existing mantelpiece), the
connector must be unscrewed and secured onto the pipe. The
appliance can then be inserted into the existing mantelpiece, and
the connector is secured through the inside of the combustion
chamber.
The diameter of the chimney should match the diameter of the flue outlet of the appliance., Please note the
following regarding the diameter of the chimney:
• The diameter of the chimney may not be reduced. Also, the flue outlet must fit the chimney perfectly.
• If there is too much chimney draught, then a damper must be incorporated.
• The chimney may not draw in extra air. Watch out for flue dampers and cleaning hatches in the cellar or
on the roof!
• The flue outlet must be securely attached to the connector pipe.
