• After 50cc of water has ﬂ owed out, press the coffee switch

(16) again to stop hot water dispensing.

• (Fig.16) - Remove the ﬁ lter holder from the machine by

turning it to the left and pour out any water left. As the

machine is ﬁ tted with the special ﬁ lter holder (13), there is

no need to change the ﬁ lter to make one or two coffees.

• (Fig.9-B) - Add 1 or 2 level measuring scoops of ground

coffee to the ﬁ lter for one or two coffees; clean any coffee

residues from the edge of the ﬁ lter holder.

• (Fig.11) - Insert the ﬁ lter holder (13) in the brew unit from

the bottom (2).

• (Fig.12) - Turn the ﬁ lter holder from left to right until it

locks in place.

• (Fig.13) - Take 1 or 2 preheated cups and place them

under the "Crema" ﬁ lter holder; check that they are cor-

rectly placed under the coffee dispensing holes.

• (Fig. 14) - Press the coffee button (16).

• When the desired quantity of coffee has been obtained,

press the coffee button again (16) to stop the coffee

brewing and remove the cups of coffee (Fig.15).

• (Fig.16) - Wait a few seconds after brewing, then remove

the “Crema” ﬁ lter holder and empty the remaining coffee

grounds.

Note: If a small quantity of water remains in the

portaﬁ lter; this is absolutely normal and is due

to the portaﬁ lter features.

Note For cleaning: keep the ﬁ lter of the “Crema”

ﬁ lter holder clean by removing it from its seat

and washing with drinking water (Fig. 17).

5.2 Coffee pods

• (Fig.9-A) - Remove the ground coffee ﬁ lter (12) from the

“Crema” ﬁ lter holder (13) by pulling it up.

• (Fig.10) - Insert the coffee pod adapter (14), with the

curved part facing down, into the “Crema" ﬁ lter holder

(13); then insert also the ﬁ lter (15).

• (Fig.11) - Insert the "Crema" ﬁ lter holder in the Brew unit

from the bottom (2).

• (Fig.12) - Turn the ﬁ lter holder from left to right until it

locks in place.

• Release the grip from the “Crema" ﬁ lter holder. The handle

is automatically turned slightly towards the left.

This movement assures the perfect functioning of the

“Crema" ﬁ lter holder.

• (Fig.14) - Preheat the “Crema” ﬁ lter holder by pressing

the coffee switch (16). Water will spill out of the “Crema”

ﬁ lter holder (this operation is only necessary for the ﬁ rst

coffee).

• After 50cc of water has ﬂ owed out, press the coffee button

(16) again to stop hot water dispensing.

• (Fig.16) - Remove the “Crema” ﬁ lter holder from the

machine by turning it from right to left and emptying out

the remaining water.

• Insert the pod in the ﬁ lter holder; make sure the paper

from the pod does not overhang the ﬁ lter holder.

• (Fig.11) - Insert the "Crema" ﬁ lter holder in the Brew unit

from the bottom (2).

• (Fig.12) - Turn the ﬁ lter holder from left to right until it locks

in place.

• Take 1 preheated cup and place it under the filter

holder; check that it is correctly placed under the coffee

dispensing holes.

• (Fig.14) - Press the coffee button (16).

• When the desired quantity of coffee has been obtained,

press the coffee button (16) again to stop coffee brewing

and remove the cup of coffee.

• (Fig.16) - Wait a few seconds after dispensing, then

remove the ﬁ lter holder and dispose of the used pod.

Note for cleaning: keep the ﬁ lter of the “Crema”

ﬁ lter holder clean by removing it from its seat

and washing with drinking water (Fig. 17).

6 TIPS FOR CHOOSING COFFEE

As a general rule any type of coffee available on the

market can be used. However, coffee is a natural product

and its ﬂ avour changes according to its origin and blend;

it is therefore a good idea to try different types of coffee in

order to ﬁ nd the most suited to your personal taste.

For optimal results, however, we recommend using

espresso machine blends. As a rule, Coffee should always

come out of the portaﬁ lter without any dripping.

The speed of coffee dispensing can be modiﬁ ed by slightly

changing the amount of coffee in the ﬁ lter and/or by using

a different coffee grind.

Saeco recommends using single-dose coffee pods marked

ESE for a tasty coffee and easier cleaning and preparing.

BEFORE USING THE HOT WATER/STEAM

JET, MAKE SURE THAT THE STEAM SPOUT

(PANNARELLO) IS POSITIONED OVER THE DRIP

TRAY.
