Das LeFlaSys (Leichtes Flugabwehrsystem) der Bundeswehr ist eines der weltweit
modernsten Flugabwehrsysteme für sehr kurze bis kurze Reichweiten. Flugziele kön-
nen in einer Entfernung von bis zu 20.000 m und einer Höhe von 5.000 m aufgeklärt,
identifiziert, erfasst und bis zu einer Entfernung von 6.000 m und einer Höhe von 3.500
m erfolgreich bekämpft werden. Zudem ist es hochmobil und in der CH 53 oder C 160
„Transall“ luftverladbar. Das System besteht aus insgesamt 5 unterschiedlichen Fahr -
zeugen, die zusammen eingesetzt, das LeFlaSys bilden. Die Fahrzeuge basieren auf dem
Wiesel 2 und dem Lkw gl leicht „Wolf“. Der Wiesel 2 ist die verlängerte und modifizier-
te Version des Wiesel, ein leicht gepanzertes Kettenfahrzeug, das Schutz gegen Hand -
waffen und Splitter bietet. Zur Selbstverteidigung verfügt der Wiesel 2 über eine ABC-
Schutzbelüftungsanlage, ein 7,62 mm MG3 und eine Nebelmittelwurfanlage. Angetrie -
ben wird er von einem 4 Zylinder TDI Motor.
Das AFF (Aufklärungs-, Führungs- und Feuerleitfahrzeug) auf Wiesel 2, ist das Auge und
Gehirn des Systems. Sein 3D Radar erfasst die Ziele und übermittelt die Zieldaten über
die umfangreiche Funkgerätausstattung per Datenfunk abhörsicher an den Waffen -
träger „Ozelot“, welcher dann bis zu vier Lenkflugkörper startet. Das AFF ist in der
Lage, die Feuerleitung von bis zu acht „Ozelot“ zu koordinieren.
Der Waffenträger „Ozelot“, ebenfalls auf Wiesel 2, hat einen rundum schwenkbaren
Turm (MLS - Multi Launcher System), der vier Lenkflugkörper vom Typ FIM-92
„Stinger“ oder „Igla“ trägt. Zusätzlich beinhaltet das MLS noch einen Sensorblock mit
einer lichtstarken TV Kamera, einem Wärmebildgerät und einem Laserentfer nungs -
messer. Des Weiteren steht auch ein IR-Rundumsuchsystem zur Verfügung. Sollte die
Verbindung zum AFF unterbrochen sein, kann der „Ozelot“ mit diesen Beobachtungs-
und Zieleinrichtungen feindliche Luftfahrzeuge selbstständig aufklären und bekämp-
fen. Vier weitere Lenkflugkörper werden im Heckstaukasten als Munitionsvorrat mit-
geführt.
Fünf „Ozelot“ und ein AFF bilden einen Zug, drei Züge bilden eine Batterie (Bttr), zur
der dann auch noch die beiden Batterieführungs- /Unterstützungszellefahrzeuge
(BF/UF), ebenfalls auf Wiesel 2, gehören. Ein Schnittstellenfahrzeug und Werkstatt -
fahrzeuge, jeweils auf Lkw gl leicht „Wolf“, vervollständigen die Ausstattung. 2001
wurde das erste System übergeben. 50 Waffenträger „Ozelot“, 10 AFF, 7 BF/UF wur-
den von der Bundeswehr beschafft.
Der „Wiesel 2“ ist ein Produkt der Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH, eine Tochter gesell -
schaft der Rheinmetall AG, zuständig für die Entwicklung und Fertigung von gepan-
zerten Kettenfahrzeugen sowie Turmsystemen. Das LeFlaSys wurde in Zusammen -
arbeit mit den Firmen Rheinmetall Defence Electronics und Krauss-Maffei Wegmann
entwickelt.

The German Army LeFlaSys (light anti-aircraft system) is one of the most up-to-date
anti-aircraft systems in the world for very close to close ranges. Airborne targets can
be tracked, identified, and acquired up to a distance of 20,000 m and an altitude of
5,000 m and successfully engaged up to a distance of 6,000 m and an altitude of 3,500
m. In addition it is highly mobile and can be transported by air in the CH 53 or C160
“Transall”. The system consists of a total of 5 different vehicles, which together form
the LeFlaSys. The vehicles are based on the Wiesel (Weasel) 2 and the light Lkw gl “Wolf”
truck. The Wiesel 2 is the lengthened and modified version of the Wiesel, a lightly
armoured tracked vehicle that offers protection against hand weapons and shrapnel.
For self-defence the Wiesel 2 has an NBC protection and ventilation system, a 7.62 mm
MG3 and a smoke grenade discharger. It is driven by a 4-cylinder TDI engine.
The AFF (reconnaissance, command and control vehicle) on the Wiesel 2, is the eyes and
brain of the system. Its 3-D radar acquires targets and transfers the target data by via
extensive tap-proof radio equipment to the “Ocelot” weapons carrier, which then
launches up to four guided missiles. The AFF is capable of coordinating the fire control
of up to eight “Ocelots”. The “Ocelot” weapons carrier, also on a Wiesel 2, has a turret
that traverses through 360°, MLS (= Multi-Launcher System), that carries four type FIM
92 “Stinger” or “Igla” guided missiles. In addition the MLS contains a sensor block with
a high-power TV camera, a temperature entropy device and a laser range finder. It also
has available an IR panoramic search system. Should the connection to the AFF be
interrupted, the “Ocelot” can independently seek and engage enemy aircraft with this
surveillance and targeting equipment. Four other guided missiles are carried as an
ammunition store in the rear stowage container.
Five “Ocelots” and one AFF form a convoy, three convoys form a battery (Bttr) which
includes the two Battery Command/Support Cell vehicles (BF/UF) also on Wiesel 2. An
interface vehicle and maintenance vehicles, likewise on light “Wolf” LkW gl trucks, com-
plete the equipment. The first system was handed over in 2001. The German Army pro-
cured 50 “Ocelot” weapons platforms, 10 AFFs and 7 BF/UFs.
Wiesel 2 is produced by Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH, a sister company of
Rheinmetall AG, in charge of development and production of armoured tracked vehi-
cles as well as of turret systems. The LeFlaSys has been developped in collaboration
with Rheinmetall Defence Electronics and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann.
