Saw chain (chain): Chain loop with cutting teeth that cut
wood. The chain is engine-powered. The chain leans against
the chain bar.
Chain wheel: Gear wheel driving the chain.
Switch: A device closing or opening the electrical circuit to the
saw engine.
Switch fuse: A device eliminating unattended saw starting.
Starter: A device switching the saw on and off. The saw is
started by pressing the starter. The saw is switched off by
releasing the starter.
Sawing out (pruning): Steps for cutting branches on a living
tree.
Bottom cut: Upward guided cut from the bottom side of the
tree trunk or branch. Performed in a standard cutting position
and with the chain bar point cut.
Assembly
Chain bar and saw chain fitting:
CAUTION: The cutting edges on the chain are sharp.
Wear protective gloves when handling the chain.
IMPORTANT: Vice the pole saw carefully when fitting it.
1. Remove the chain wheel cover (pic. 1/5)
2. Fit the chain to the bar (pic. 5) (see the chain rotation
direction in pic. 4!)
3. Loosen the clamping screw (pic. 5/B) using the spanner
included.
4. Fit the chain to the chain wheel and insert the bar (long
bar opening and bar boring match the chain bar screw
and clamping screw pic. 6).
5. Fit the cover (pic. 7) and tighten it slightly (by hand).
CAUTION: Do not fit the chain against the rotation
direction. If the chain is the other way round, the saw
strongly vibrates and does not cut (pic. 4)
Fitting the handle:
Fit the handle as shown in pic. 18.
Folding function:
Assemble the pole saw as shown in pic. 9 and tighten it with
two screws.
Chain tension calibration
CAUTION: Make always sure the chain is tightened
properly. A loose chain increases the risk of backlash. A
loose chain could get out of the guide. It could injure the
operator and damage the chain. A loose chain causes
quick wear of the chain, chain bar and chain wheel.
Pic. 5:
A Chain tension
B Chain loosening
1. Before calibrating the chain, make sure the chain bar nut
(pic. 1/6) is only tightened by hand.
2. Turn the clamping screw clockwise so that the chain gets
tightened. (pic. 5/A)
Notice: The chain is tightened properly when fitted in
a way it cannot get out of the guide when the
appliance is being operated. The chain must move
freely. If the chain is not moving freely, release it by
turning the clamping screw counter-clockwise.
3. After the chain is tightened properly, tighten the chain bar
nut (pic. 1/6), if not tightened - the chain bar is moving
and the chain tension is getting released. This increases
the risk of backlash and can even cause damage to the
saw. Notice: The new chain gets expanded. Check the
new chain after first minutes of operation. Let the chain
cool down and then recalibrate the chain tension.
Chain lubrication with oil
Check the oil level after each use of the saw. Make sure there
is always sufficient amount of oil in the storing reservoir.
