• Before connecting the appliance
check that the voltage indicated on
the type plate corresponds to the
mains voltage in your home.
• Keep away from water! Do not use this product
near or over water contained in baths,
washbasins, sinks, etc. If, for some reason, the
product has fallen into water: first unplug
immediately. Then, dispose of the product. It
must not be used again.
• Always switch the appliance off before putting it
down, even if it is only for a moment.
• Even when the hair dryer is switched off, the
power is still on. Always pull out the mains plug
when not in use.
• Never obstruct the air grills.
• This product is equipped with an automatic
overheating protection device. If the appliance
overheats, it will switch off. Unplug the
appliance. After cooling down for a few minutes,
the appliance can be used again. Before reusing,
check the inlet and outlet grilles for possible
blockage by fluff, hair, etc. If in doubt, consult
your dealer or a Philips Service Centre.
• If the mains cord of this appliance is damaged, it
must only be replaced by Philips or their service
representative, as special tools and/or parts are
required.
• For examination or repairs always return the
appliance to an authorised Philips service centre.
Unqualified repair work can lead to extreme
hazards for the user.

nouveau utilisé. Avant de le réutiliser, vérifiez
que les grilles d'entrée et de sortie d'air ne soient
pas bloquées par des duvets ou cheveux, etc. En
cas de doute, consultez votre revendeur ou un
réparateur agréé Philips Appareils Domestiques.
• Si le cordon secteur de votre appareil est endom-
magé, il doit impérativement être remplacé par
un réparateur indépendant agréé Philips car des
équipements et des composants spécifiques
sont exigés.
• Pour toute intervention ou réparation sur votre
appareil, consultez votre revendeur ou l'un des
réparateurs agréés Philips de votre région. Toute
réparation effectuée par du personnel non-
qualifié peut présenter un risque pour
l'utilisateur.

Elektroinstallateur.
• Verstopfen Sie niemals den Lufteinlaß.
• Dieses Gerät ist mit einem automatischen
Überhitzungsschutz ausgestattet. Bei
Überhitzung wird das Gerät automatisch
ausgeschaltet. Ziehen Sie den Netzstecker aus
der Steckdose. Wenn das Gerät einige Minuten
abgekühlt ist, können Sie es wieder benutzen.
Prüfen Sie vor der Wiederbenutzung, ob die
Lufteintrittsgitter oder -austrittsgitter frei von
Staub, Fusseln oder Haaren sind. Im Zweifelsfall
fragen Sie Ihren Händler oder den Philips-
Kundendienst.
• Wenn das Netzanschlußkabel defekt oder
beschädigt ist, muß es ersetzt werden durch eine
von Philips autorisierte Werkstatt, da für die
Reparatur Spezial-Werkzeuge und/oder spezielle
Teile benötigt werden.
• Wenden Sie sich zur Prüfung oder
Instandsetzung des Geräts nur an den Philips
Kundendienst. Unsachgemäße Reparaturen
können für den Anwender zu ernsthaften
Schäden führen.

Neem dan de stekker uit het stopcontact. Nadat
het apparaat een paar minuten is afgekoeld, kunt
u het weer gebruiken. Controleer dan eerst of de
luchtinlaat- en uitlaatroosters niet geblokkeerd
zijn door pluizen, haren e.d. Raadpleeg uw
leverancier of een Philips Service Centrum in
geval van twijfel.
• Indien het snoer van dit apparaat is beschadigd,
dient het uitsluitend te worden vervangen door
Philips, of een door Philips daartoe aangewezen
reparateur, omdat voor de reparatie speciale
gereedschappen en/of onderdelen vereist zijn.
• Wend u voor inspectie of reparatie tot een door
Philips erkende reparateur of Philips Service
Centrum. Onoordeelkundig uitgevoerde
reparaties kunnen levensgevaar veroorzaken.

surriscaldamento.
In caso di surriscaldamento, tale dispositivo
entrerà in funzione automaticamente spegnendo
l'apparecchio. Togliete la spina dalla presa di
alimentazione. Potrete usare di nuovo
l'apparecchio dopo averlo lasciato raffreddare
per alcuni minuti.
Prima di usarlo però, controllate che le griglie di
entrata e uscita dell'aria non siano ostruite da
lanugine, capelli ecc.
Nel dubbio, rivolgetevi al rivenditore o ad uno dei
numerosi Centri di Assistenza Philips.
• Se il cavo di alimentazione di questo
apparecchio si dovesse rovinare, occorrerà farlo
sostituire da un centro assistenza autorizzato
perchè occorrono strumenti e ricambi speciali.
• Per controlli, regolazioni o riparazioni portate
l'apparecchio solamente ad un Servizio
Assistenza Philips autorizzato.
Le riparazioni effettuate da personale non
qualificato potrebbero causare seri rischi per

sobrecalienta, éste se desconectará
automáticamente. Desconecte el aparato.
Después de enfriarse durante unos minutos el
aparato puede utilizarse de nuevo. Antes de
volverlo a utilizar compruebe que las rejillas de
entrada y salida de aire no están obstruidas por
pelusa, pelos, etc. En caso de duda consulte a
su distribuidor o a un centro de servicio Philips.
• Si el cable de red de este aparato es dañado,
sólo puede ser reemplazado en un taller de
reparación señalado por el fabricante, porque se
requiere una herramienta especial.
• Para ajustes o revisiones devuelvan siempre el
aparato a un taller de Servicio Philips. Los
intentos de reparación por parte de personal no
cualificado pueden traducirse en riesgos
peligrosos para el usuario.
Voltage selector (HP 4378)
Prior to first use, check that the appliance is adjusted to
the local mains voltage. Do not forget to check the voltage
selector when taking the appliance with you on a journey
and when coming back: it may be necessary to change the
setting.
Setting 240: suitable for mains voltages in the range
220-240 V AC.
Setting 120: suitable for mains voltages in the range
110-125 V AC.
"Concentrator" nozzle
The "concentrator" nozzle may be fitted to the air outlet
opening for directing the airstream e.g. when using curlers.
If the supplied mains plug is not suitable for your mains
wall socket please cut off this mains plug.
Warning
: Dispose of this removed mains plug
thoroughly, an electrical shock hazard exists if this cut
off mains plug is inserted into a mains wall socket.
Always refit the fuse cover after changing the fuse.
Never use this mains plug without the fuse cover.
Replacement fuse covers are available from Philips,
telephone No. 0181-689-2166 Ext. 8014. Fuse covers are
identified by their colour and markings. The fuse in this
mains plug has a current rating of 13 Amps. Only fit a
replacement fuse, of the same value, approved by
ASTA to BS1362.

A la première utilisation, vérifiez qu'il soit bien sur la
position correspondant à la tension du secteur. N'oubliez
pas qu'il peut être nécessaire de modifier la position du
sélecteur quand l'appareil est utilisé lors d'un voyage et de
même au retour.
Position 240: pour secteur dont le voltage est compris

"Concentrateur d'air"
Cet accessoire peut être fixé sur la sortie d'air du sèche-

"IMPORTANT"
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance
with the following code:
Blue - neutral
Brown - live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this
appliance may not correspond with the markings
identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:
The wire which is coloured Blue must be connected to
the terminal which is marked with the letter "N" or
coloured Black.
The wire which is coloured Brown must be connected to
the terminal which is marked with the letter "L" or
coloured Red.
DO NOT CONNECT either of these wires to the earth
terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter "E"
or by the earth symbol E or coloured GREEN, or
GREEN AND YELLOW.
Note: If the terminals of the plug are unmarked or if you
are in any doubt consult a qualified electrician.
If a (BS 1363) 13 amp. plug is used this must be fitted
with a 13 amp. fuse.
