THE LID OPEN.
Instructions for the Temperature Control
• When the light is flashing, the barbecue is heating
up.
• When the light stops flashing, the barbecue has
reached the desired temperature.
• Wind and weather may make it necessary to adjust
the temperature control in order to maintain the
correct barbecue temperature.

Grilling
• with the lid on or off
Cooking
• with lid on
IMPORTANT: In order to avoid overheating, this
appliance shall not be covered by any solid or flexible
material such as an aluminum tray, aluminum foil or
trays made of other heat resistant material. The use of
such items or materials on the grille would impair the
safety of your product and could lead to serious
damage.
After Grilling
• Switch the temperature control to «OFF».
• Turn the main switch to «OFF».
• Always pull out the plug when not in use. The appli-
ance can only be disconnected from the mains by
pulling out the plug. When unplugging, always pull
the plug, never the cable.
• Clean the cooking grid and the drip pan after every
use. Allow the barbecue to cool down completely
before you clean it.
Cleaning
• Switch the temperature control to «OFF» before
you start cleaning.
• Pull the plug out of the mains socket and allow the
barbecue to cool down completely.
•WARNING: Never immerse the barbecue and hea-
ting element with the power cable in water, or clean
them under running water. Avoid all contact bet-
ween electrical components and water.
• Only wipe the heating element with a damp cloth
and then dry it with a soft, dry cloth. IMPORTANT:
Do not use any caustic or abrasive cleaning agents
or solvents for cleaning the electric kettle barbe-
cue.
• Clean the cooking grid with a barbecue brush with
brass bristles (not steel bristles). Do not use any
sharp objects or abrasive cleaning agents.
• Wash out the drip pan with soapy water.
• Most of the grease vaporises or drips onto the alu-
minium protective foil and is thus diverted to the
drip pan. For this reason, you should replace the
aluminium protective foil on the heat reflector at
regular intervals, but latest when it is coated with
greasy residues. IMPORTANT: A clean aluminium
protective film considerably improves the heating
from below, thus delivering better barbecue results!
• For all other parts or a more thorough cleaning, use
a nylon pot sponge and soapy water to remove all
loose residues. An oven cleaner may also be used.
IMPORTANT: After every thorough cleaning you
should allow the barbecue to dry out (burn off) pro-
perly on level 6, as most oven cleaners have rather
a strong smell.
Maintenance
• The power cable must be checked for signs of
damage at regular intervals. The appliance must
not be used with a damaged cable.
• Replace the aluminium protective foil on the heat
reflector regularly to ensure that there is adequate
heat from below and that grease and residues can
drain away.
• In order to prevent corrosion, you should oil all the
metal components before storing the barbecue for
any length of time.
• For an extension of the lifespan of your barbecue,
we recommend covering the barbecue with an
OUTDOORCHEF barbecue cover after it has coo-
led off completely, to protect it from the elements.
• To avoid the accumulation of humidity, remove the
barbecue cover after rain.
Storage and/or Non-Use
When you are not using the OUTDOORCHEF electric
kettle barbecue, switch the temperature control to
