3.4. Test modes
The presence detector is equipped with two test modes:
a) If you set the presence detector (master) to the test mode for the lux value, you can
measure the daylight level.
1. Turn on DIP switches 1 and 2.
The lighting is switched off.
2. Slowly turn the LUX key to the right (maximum) until the indication LED is illuminated.
At that moment, the lux setting is equal to the daylight level that the light sensor is measuring. If
there is sufficient daylight in the room, rotate the LUX key to the left (minimum) until the indication
LED is no longer illuminated. Leave the LUX key in this position.
If you turn the LUX key to the left, the lighting will switch off when there is less daylight.
If you turn the LUX button to the right, the lighting will switch off when there is more daylight.
3. Turn off DIP switches 1 and 2 again.
b) Test mode for the motion detector operation
1. Turn off DIP switch 1 and turn on DIP switch 2 for all devices. Within five seconds, the lighting is
switched on if the motion sensor detects motion. The indication LED for motion indicates that the
sensor is activated.
Attention: The walking test is not affected by daylight.
2. Turn off DIP switch 2 again.
3.5. Indication LED for motion
Turn on DIP switch 1 and turn off DIP switch 2 to activate the indication LED for motion. The indication LED
remains illuminated as long as motion is detected.
3.6. Detection range
The presence detector is suitable for ceiling mounting. With indoor ceiling mounting at 2.5 m above floor
level, the presence detector has a detection angle of 360° and a detection range of 20 m for the detection
of the motion of people. There is a special lens in the middle of the sensor which reaches an area of 5 m
in diameter and which consists of more than 618 surfaces for optimal detection of even the most minute
movements.
The sensor is equipped with a specially designed optical function with two detection ranges:
• close range (A + B) for detection of small movements.
• far range (C + D) for detection of the movements of people.
Thanks to this combination, you can control the lighting precisely and at the same time save as much energy
as possible (fig. 10).
If you would like to exclude motion detection in a portion of the detection range or if the detection range is too
large, cover the sensor lens using the cover cap supplied. This allows the maximum range to be reduced from
20 m to 12 m, 5 m or 3 m. The 360° detection angle can be reduced in steps of 45° (fig. 8).
4. OPERATION AND USE
4.1. Activating the system
After connecting to the mains voltage, the lighting and the integrated indication LED will always be
illuminated for one minute (stabilisation phase). After this one-minute warm-up time, the presence detector is
ready for use and the connected lighting is switched off.
4.2. General operation
The integrated light sensor continuously measures the daylight level in the detection area (360°) and compares
this level to the preset lux value. Thanks to the light sensor, the light switches on automatically only if the
detector detects motion within the detection range and if the daylight level falls below the preset lux value:
• The lighting remains switched on as long as motion is detected.
• After the last motion is detected, the lighting remains switched on for the duration of the
preset switch-off delay (1 to 30 minutes). As soon as the switch-off delay has elapsed, the
lighting switches off.
• The lighting switches off automatically as soon the preset daylight level has been reached.
4.3. Use with several detection points
If you have more than one detection point for one lighting circuit, then a master and a slave must be assigned.
Parameter
light sensitivity The light sensitivity of the slave is determined by
the preset light sensitivity on the master.
switch-off delay* The preset time on the slave is added to the preset
switch-off delay on the master.
* If the switch-off delay on the slave is set to one minute, for example, the lighting is switched on when
motion is detected by this slave for the duration of the preset switch-off delay on the master + one minute.
This remains one minute even if more than one slave with a switch-off delay of one minute is connected to
the master.
4.4. External push button
If you press the external push button, the lighting is switched on, just like when the sensor is activated. The
lighting is only switched on if the photo cell in the sensor registers that it is sufficiently dark in the room (the
daylight level is lower than the preset lux value).
5. MAINTENANCE
Dirt may prevent the presence detector from functioning properly. Therefore, always keep the lens clean and
dry. Use a damp cloth and water with some detergent to clean the lens. Never exert pressure to wipe the lens
clean. If the lens or other parts of the presence detector are defective, please contact an authorised installer.
