During the Warranty term, Mot orola will, at its discreti on and without extr a charge, as
your excl usive r emedy , repair or replace your Product w hich does not com ply with this
warranty; or failing this, to reimburse the price of the Product but re duced to take into
account the use yo u have had of the Produc t since it was deliver ed. This warranty will
expire at the en d of the Warranty T erm.
This is the com plete and exclu sive warran ty for a Motorola Personal Communi cator and
accesso ries and in lieu of all other warra nties, terms and conditions, whether expr ess or
implied.
Where you purch ase the p roduct other than as a c onsumer , Motorol a discla ims all ot her
warranties , terms and conditions express or implied , such as fitness for pur pose and
satisfactor y quality .
In no ev ent shall Motorola b e liabl e for da mages nor loss of data in ex cess of the
purchase price nor for any incidental spe cial or consequenti al damages

the use o r inabi lity to use the Product, to the fu ll extent suc h may be discl aimed b y law.
This Warranty does not affect any statut ory rights that you m ay have if you are a
consumer , such as a warrant y of satisfact ory quality and fit for the purp ose for which
products of the sam e type are normally used und er normal use and servi ce, nor any
rights against the seller of the Products arising from your purcha se and sales cont ract.
HOW TO GET WARRANTY SERVICE?
In most cases the author ised Motorola dea ler which s old and/or instal led your M otorola
Personal Comm unicator and origi nal accessories will honour a warranty cla im and/or
provide wa rranty ser vice. Alterna tively , for further inform ation on ho w to g et warran ty
service, plea se contact either the cu stomer servi ce department of your service provider
or Motorola's call centre at (GB) +44 (0) 871 641 2130, (BE) +32 ( 0) 2 7 00 16 60 ,
(CH) 0800 553 109, (IE) +353 1850 909 555.
CLAI MING
In order to claim the warran ty service, you must return the Persona l Communicator and/
or accessories in question to Motorola's Authorised Rep air or Service Centre in the
original configu ration and packagi ng as supplied by Mot orola. Please avo id leaving any
supplemen tary items l ike SIM card s. The Prod uct should also be acco mpanied by a l abel
with your name, ad dress, and t elephone nu mber; n ame of opera tor and a descriptio n of
the problem. In the case of vehicular inst allation, the vehi cle in which the Pers onal
Communicat or is installed should be driven to t he Authorised Repair or Service Cen tre,
as analys is of a ny probl em may r equire insp ection o f the en tire ve hicular i nstallatio n.
In order to be eligible to re ceive warranty ser vice, you must pres ent your receipt of
purchase or a compar able substitu te proof of purchase bear ing the date of purchase.
The phone should al so clearly display the original compatib le electronic serial number
(IMEI) and mechan ic serial number [MSN]. Such information i s contained with the
Product.
Y ou m ust ensure tha t any and all repairs or servici ng is handled at all times by a
Motorola Au thorised Servi ce Centre i n accord ance with the Motor ola Service
requirement s.
In some cases , you may be requeste d to provide additiona l information concer ning the
maintenance of the Products by Motorola Aut horised Service Cent res only , therefore it
is important to kee p a record of any previo us repairs, and make t hem available if
questions aris e concerning maint enance.
COND ITIONS
This warrant y will not apply if the type or se rial numbers on the Product have been
altered, de leted, dupl icated, rem oved, or made il legible. Mot orola reser ves the right to
refuse free-of -charge warrant y service if the reques ted documentat ion can not be
presented or if th e informa tion is i ncomplete, illegible or inco mpatible with the fa ctory
reco rds.

Repair , at Motorola's optio n, may include refl ashing of softwar e, the replacement of

Replaced part s, accessorie s, batteries, or boards are warranted for the b alance of the
original wa rranty ti me period. T he Warranty T erm will no t be extende d. All or iginal
accesso ries, batteries, part s, and Personal Commu nicator equipmen t that have been
replaced sha ll become the property of Motorola. Motor ola does not warrant the
installat ion, maintenance or service of the product s, accessories, batte ries or parts.
Motorola w ill not be resp onsible in any way for pr oblems or damage caused by any
ancillary equ ipment not furnis hed by Motorola whic h is attached to or used in
connectio n with th e Products , or for operation of Motorola equipment w ith any an cillary
equipment and al l such equipment is expressly exclude d from this warra nty .
When the Produc t is used in conjunction wit h ancillary or perip heral equipmen t not
supplied by M otorola, Motoro la does not warrant the oper ation of the Product/
periphera l combination and Mo torola will not honour any warranty clai m where the
Product is used in su ch a combination and it is determined by Motoro la that there is no
fault wi th the Product. M otorola specifical ly disc laims any responsi bility f or any
damage, whet her or not to Motorola equip ment, caused in any way by the use of the
Personal Comm unicator , accessories , software app lications and peri pherals (speci fic
examples include, but are not limit ed to: bat teries, ch argers, adap ters, and power
supplies) wh en such accessor ies, softw are applications and peripherals are not
manufacture d and supplied by M otorola.
WHA T IS NOT COVERED BY THE W ARRANTY
This warrant y is not valid if the defects are due to damage, misuse, tampering, negle ct
or lack of care and in cas e of alterations or repai r carried out by unau thorised perso ns.
The following are ex amples of defects or damage not covered by t his product warran ty:
1 Defe cts or damage resu lting from use of the Produ ct in other than its norma l and
customary m anner .
2 Defe cts or damage f rom misu se, acc ess to i ncompatibl e source s, acci dent or
neglect.
3 Defe cts or damage from imp roper testing , operation, mainten ance, installat ion,
adjustment , unauthorised software applic ations or any al teration or modificat ion of
any kind.
4 Bre akage or damage to ante nnas unless caused di rectly by defects in mat erial or
workmanshi p.
5 Pro ducts disassembl ed or repaired other tha n by Motorola in such a mann er as to
adversely affect performan ce or prevent adequat e inspection and testing to verify
any warran ty claim.
6 Defe cts or dam age d ue to range, coverage , availabi lity , grade o f servi ce, or
operation of the cellular system by the cellular operator.
7 Defe cts or damage due to moistu re, liquid or spills of food.
8 Cont rol unit coil cords in the P roduct t hat are stretched o r have t he modul ar tab
broken.
9 All pla stic surfaces and all other external ly exposed parts th at are scratched or
damaged due to cus tomer normal use .
10 Leather case s (which are cove red under separa te manufacturer 's warrantie s).
11 Products rented o n a tem porary b asis.
12 Periodic maint enance and repair or repl acement of parts due to norm al wear and
tea r .
Note:
The talk-time, s tand-by t ime and t otal life cycle of a Mot orola re chargeable
battery for your Per sonal Communi cator will depend on usage conditions and network
configurati ons. As a co nsumable prod uct, the speci fications ind icate that yo u should be
able to obtain optim um performance f or your Motorola Per sonal Communicat or within
the first six months from date of purchase and up to (200 ) charges (Optimum
Performance T ime).
The warranty fo r Motorola rechar geable batteries beco mes void if (i) the batteri es are
charged ot her than b y Motorola approved ba ttery ch argers speci fied for the c harging of
the battery, (ii) any of the seal s on the battery are br oken or show eviden ce of
tampering, (iii) t he battery is used in equipm ent or service other than the ce llular
telephone equipm ent for which it is specif ied.
Depending on oper ating conditions and your usage habit s, wear and tear might take
place of componen ts including mecha nical problem s related to Product housing, paint,
assembly, sub-assemblies, displays and keyboards and any ac cessories which are not
part of the Product's in-box configur ation. The rectifica tion of faults generated through
wear an d tear a nd the us e of con sumable items like batteries beyond t heir Optimum
Performance T ime as indicated in the product m anual is c onsidered to be yo ur
responsib ility and therefore Mo torola will not provide the free Warranty repair service
for these items.

Please m ake and retain a note of all d ata you h ave inser ted int o your P roduct, fo r
example, nam es, address es, phone numbers , user and access codes, notes, etc.
before sub mitting your Product for a Warranty serv ice as suc h data ma y be deleted or
erased as part of the r epair or s ervice proc ess.
Please note i f you have downloade d material on to your Produc t, for example ring
tones, ring t unes, screensavers, w allpaper , ga mes, etc. thes e may be dele ted or
erased as pa rt of the repair proce ss or testing p rocess. Moto rola shall not be
responsible for such matters. The repair or test ing process sh ould not affect any
such materi al that was installed by Motorola o n your Product as a standard
feature.
OUT OF W ARRANTY REP AIRS
If you request Mo torola to repair your Product any time after t he Warranty term or
where thi s warrant y does no t apply due to t he natur e of th e defect or fault, then
Motorola may at its discretion carry out such repai rs subject to you pay ing Motorola
its fees for such a repair or it may refer you to an authorised third par ty to carry out
such repa irs.
• M otorol a recommends you alway s use Motorola-branded ba tteries
and chargers.
The warranty does not cover damage cause d by non-
Motorola batteries and/or chargers.
Caution:
Use of unapproved batteri es
or chargers may present a risk of fir e, explosion, l eakage, or other hazard.
Improper battery use, or use of a dam aged battery , may result in a fire,
explosion, or ot her hazard.

Children should be supervised when using the battery .
• I mportant:
Motorola mobile dev ices are designed to w ork best with
approved batteries. If you see a message on your display su ch as
Invalid B attery
or
Unable to Charge
, take the following steps:
•
Remove the battery and i nspect it to confir m that it bears a Motorola
“Original Equi pment” hologram;
•
If there is no hologram, the battery is not an approved battery;
•
If there is a hologram, replace the battery and attempt to recharge it.
•
If the message remains, contact a Motorola author ised service centre.
•
New batteries or batteries stored for a long time may take longer to charge.
• C har ging precautions:
When charging your battery , keep it near room
temperature. Never expose batteri es to temperatures bel ow 0°C (32°F) or
above 45°C (113° F) when charging. Alw ays take your mobile device with
you when you leave your vehicle
•
When storing your batter y , keep i t in a cool, dry place.
•
It is normal for the battery life to decrease over time and for the battery to
exhibit shorter runti mes between charges or require more frequ ent or
longer charging t imes.
• A void damage to battery and mobile device.
Do no t disassemble,
open, crush, bend, deform, puncture, shred or submerge the battery or
mobile device. Avoid dropping the battery or mobile device, especially on a
hard surface. I f your battery or mobile device has been subjected to such
damage, take it to a M otorola authorised service centre before using. Do
not
attempt to dry it with an appliance o r heat source, such as a hair dryer
or mi cr owav e o ven.
• T ake care when handling a charged battery
—particularly when
placing it inside a pocket, purse or other container w ith metal objects.
Contact with metal objects (such as jewellery , keys, beaded chains) could
complete an electrical circuit (short circ uit), causing the battery to becom e
very hot, whic h could cause damage or injury.
Promptly dispose of used batter ies in accordance with local
regulations. Contact your local recycling cent re for pr oper battery
disposal.
Warning:
Never dispose o f batteries in a fire because they ma y
explode.
New batteries are not f ully charged.
Tip :
Motorola batteries have circuitry that protects the battery from damage
through overcharging.
