Introduction
The Logitech Harmony One+ universal touchscreen remote is your answer to effortless
home entertainment. With one-button activities, you can go from watching TV
towatching a DVD or listening to music with a single touch. The guided online setup
steps you through the conguration of your Harmony One+, so you’ll soon be ready
tosit back and relax!
Whether you’re new to Harmony products or you consider yourself an expert,
thisUserManual provides you with the information you need.
Getting to know your Harmony One+
How your Harmony One+ works
The Harmony One+ is an activity-based infrared (IR) universal remote control.
UsingHarmony software, you can set up the Harmony One+ to control up to
15devices.
The Harmony One+ delivers powerful activity-based control using Smart
StateTechnology
®
. This technology allows the Harmony One+ to keep track
ofthedevices itcontrols, so it always knows which of your devices are on.
Devices,inputs, andactivities
To make the most of your Harmony One+, you need to understand the following
terms: devices, inputs, and activities.
Devices
Devices are the components of your entertainment system. They’re things like your TV,
cable box, DVD player, or game console.
Inputs
Inputs are connections on the back of your devices. Inputs are used to connect
yourdevices to each other. When you want to go from watching TV to watching
aDVD orlistening to music, you typically need to switch your TV and/or audio receiver
to the correct input. For example, if your DVD player is connected to your TV using
theHDMI 1 input, then the TV needs to be set to HDMI 1 to watch a DVD.
Activities
An activity is something you do with your entertainment system, like watching TV,
listening to music, or playing a game. Your Harmony remote automates activities
sothat a single button turns on all the necessary devices for each activity, and switches
them to the required inputs. For example, pressing the Watch TV button might
turn on your TV, your cable or satellite receiver, and your audio receiver, andswitch
tothecorrect video and audio inputs.
The activity also determines which devices handles important functions such as
changing channels or controlling the volume.

The Off button turns off all the devices in the current activity.
The arrow keys help you page through items on the touch
screen.

The function buttons are dynamic and select the functions
displayed above on the button on the touchscreen.
Activities
The Activities button displays your activities.
Help
The Help button starts the on-remote help.
Menu
The Menu button opens the on-screen menu for the device
selected.
The page up and page down arrows help you navigate
through your on-screen guide or menu.
Info
The Info button opens the information section of
youron-screen guide.
Exit
The Exit button closes your on-screen menu or guide.
Guide
The Guide button opens your on-screen guide.
Vol
+
The volume button changes the volume.
OK
The navigation pad arrows allow you to move through menus
or on-screen guides.
Ch
+
The channel button changes the channels.
The mute button mutes the sound.
The previous channel buttons returns you to the last channel
you were on.
Replay
Skip
The play area puts your play, pause, skip and other buttons
inone area for quick access.

What’s on the Harmony One+ touchscreen
Activities
When you press the Activities button, the touchscreen
displays the activities you have set up. When you tap
anactivity on the touchscreen, the activity starts, and the
commands for that activity appear on the touchscreen.
The commands may apply to any of the devices that
youuse for that activity. For example, if you’re watching TV,
thetouchscreen displays functions and commands for your TV
and the cable or satellite box you use in the Watch TV activity.
Devices
When you are viewing activities on your remote’s touchscreen,
you can switch to device mode by pressing the Devices button
on your remote. A list of devices appears on the touchscreen.
You can select a device, then view the commands that are
available for that device.
Favorite channels
If you have favorite channels set up on your Harmony One+,
a Favorites option will appear at the bottom of the
touchscreen when you start the Watch TV activity.
TapFavorites then tap the name or icon for the favorite
channel you want to watch.
Status icons
A: The status indicator ashes whenever a command is being
sent from your Harmony One+. B: The status of the battery.
C: The current date and time. Navigating screen options
The buttons surrounding the remote’s screen allow you to
navigate the screen options. The arrow buttons help you
move through each page ofoptions, while the bottom buttons
allow you to choose theoption displayed on the touchscreen
above. The upper left corner of the screen shows the current
page number and how many pages there are in total.

Using your Harmony One+
Selecting an activity
You can start an activity by pressing the Activities button
onyour remote then tapping the appropriate activity on
thetouchscreen.
Harmony One+ will take care of powering on the required
devices, powering off the ones not needed, and changing
inputs if necessary.
Using the Remote Assistant
The Harmony One+’s Remote Assistant appears on the
touchscreen when you disconnect the remote after syncing,
and when you start an activity. It guides you through the activity. For example,
whenyou select the Watch TV activity, the Remote Assistant asks you if the TV is on
and if the other devices in the activity are congured properly.
You can temporarily turn off the Remote Assistant by pressing the function
button below Options then tapping the Turn Remote Assistant Off option on
thetouchscreen. The Remote Assistant will reappear after the next sync.
Controllingyour devices individually
In some cases, you may want to control a device individually. You may, for example,
want to access a function not included in the current activity (such as picture-in-
picture). When you are in an activity, pressing the Devices button shows you a list
ofyour devices. Choose the device you want to control. If necessary, use the arrow
buttons to nd the page with the desired device. Once you select the device,
theHarmony One+ screen shows the commands for that device. Choose the desired
command. Once you’ve nished, press the center button to return to activities mode.

If you nd yourself regularly switching to device mode to perform
aparticular function, you should consider adding that function
toanactivity. For more information, see Setting up activities
onpage9.

Using your favorite channels
You can set up favorite channels for your TV, or your cable or satellite receiver.
Foreach channel, you can choose the icon you want to appear on the touchscreen.
For more information, see Setting up favorite channels on page 16.
To select a favorite channel:
1. Press the Watch TV button. On your remote’s touchscreen, select the Favorites
option. Your favorite channels will appear on the screen.
2. If you have set up more than four favorite channels, they will appear
onmultiplepages. Use the arrow buttons to move between pages.
3. To jump to a favorite channel, simply tap the channel number or icon.
Turning off your devices
Press the Off button to power off all the devices used in the current activity.
Setting the date and time
You can change the date and time that appears on the Harmony One’s touchscreen.
To set or change the date and time, follow these steps:
1. On your Harmony One’s screen, press the function button below Options.
2. Tap the Date and Time option.
Recharging your remote
Your Harmony One+ comes with a charging
station. The charging station plugs into a wall
outlet and charges the battery every time
youput the remote on it. To ensure your remote
stays charged, be sure to place it back on
thecharging station when you’re done using it.
You don’t need to turn off devices when switching between
activities. The Harmony One+ ensures the proper devices for
theactivity are on or off.

Using the Help button
Because obstacles or distance can interfere with the signals the Harmony One+ sends
when it starts an activity (for example, someone walks between your Harmony One+
and the TV when you press Watch TV, or you’re very far away from the system
whenyou start an activity), your Harmony One+ can become “out of sync” with
yourdevices.
Before pressing the Help button, be sure you’ve addressed the cause
of the problem (for example, remove any obstacles from the line
ofsight).
To x the problem, use the Help feature on your remote.
1. On the remote, press the Help button.
2. Answer the questions and follow the instructions on
the Harmony One+ touchscreen. The Harmony One+
re-sends commands to make your remote “in sync”
with your devices.
3. To access advanced help features, press and hold
theHelp button for 5 seconds.
If you have used the Help feature to x the problem several
times in the past, you may be asked some questions
tohelp x the problem permanently. When you’re done
withthisprocess, the Harmony One+ will be “in sync”
withyour devices.

Guided online setup
Setting up your Harmony One+ for the rst time
Overview
You set up your Harmony One+ using a guided online setup process called
MyHarmony. It asks you a series of questions about your entertainment system
asitwalks you through the following steps:
1. Creating your user account: The setup walks you through creating
auseraccount on My Harmony. You may also be prompted to download
andinstall software.
2. Connecting your Harmony One+ to your computer: You will be prompted
toconnect your remote to your computer so they can communicate with
eachother.
3. Setting up the devices you want to control: My Harmony walks you
throughentering the manufacturer and model numbers of the components
ofyour entertainment system that you can collect using the Device Worksheet
on page 11.
4. Setting up activities: My Harmony helps you set up one-button activities
thatsave you the trouble of turning on multiple devices and switching inputs.
5. Syncing the remote: My Harmony transfers your setup information from
yourcomputer to the remote.
After you set up and sync your Harmony One+ remote, you can change your setup and
add favorite channels. For more information, see Changing your setup on page 13.
Gathering your device information
To simplify the setup process, we recommend you ll out
theDeviceWorksheet, so that all the device information is at hand
when you need it.
Locating manufacturer and model number on your devices
Manufacturer names and model numbers are typically found at the front
ofadevice, on a label on the back or side of the device, or in the user manual
forthat device.

1. Creating your user account
To access My Harmony, open a web browser and go to MyHarmony.com.
Whenyouvisit MyHarmony.com for the rst time, you must create a user
account soyou can save your settings and return at any time to make changes.
FromMyHarmony, follow the online instructions to set up your remote and create
your account. Depending on your system, you may be prompted to download
andinstall software.
2. Connecting your Harmony One+ to your computer
When asked to do so, connect your Harmony One+ to your computer using
theUSBcable provided.
1. Connect the smaller end of the cable to the USB port on your remote.
2. Connect the wider end of the USB cable to a USB port on your computer.
3. Once connected, the Harmony One+ will begin communicating with your
computer. A Welcome screen will appear when the connection is complete.
3. Setting up the devices you want to control
From the Welcome screen, click Next to begin. My Harmony will walk you through
the process of setting up devices. You’ll be asked to provide the manufacturer name
and model number for all the entertainment devices you want to control with
yourHarmony One+. You can use the Device Worksheet on page 11 to gather
thenecessary information. For devices with multiple inputs (like TVs and AV receivers),
you’ll need to note which devices are connected to them, and with which inputs.
Adding new devices at a later time
If you want to add additional devices after the initial setup,
see Adding and changing devices on page 13.

4. Setting up activities
After you have nished identifying your devices, you can start setting up your activities.
An activity is something you do with your entertainment system, like watching TV,
listening to music, or playing a game. Your Harmony remote automates activities so
that a single button turns on all thenecessary devices for each activity, and switches
them to the required inputs. Forexample, pressing the Watch a Movie button might
turn on your TV and yourDVDplayer, and switch the TV to the DVD player’s input.
My Harmony prompts you to set up the Watch TV activity, and allows you to set
up other activities (depending on the devices you have added to your account).
Ifyou haven’t added enough devices to support an activity, you won’t be given
anopportunity to add any. When you set up an activity, you choose the devices
thatare involved in the activity, and indicate which devices you use to control which
functions. For example, whenyouset up the Watch TV activity, you pick the device
that changes the channels and the device that controls the volume. If the device has
more than one input, My Harmony asks you which input thedeviceuses. If you’re not
sure, see Determining your inputs on page 10 formore information. You may also
be asked additional questions depending onyourentertainment system.
5. Updating the remote
When you’re nishing adding activities, click Sync to transfer your setup information
to your Harmony One+. After the remote has been updated, the setup process will
prompt you to disconnect the remote from your computer and test your remote
onyour home entertainment system. For specic details about testing your remote,
see Testing your remote on page 12.

Determining your inputs
One of the most important steps in creating your activities for your Harmony One+
is determining which inputs your system uses for each device. If you’re notsure,
thissection offers some suggestions on how to gure out which inputs
yourentertainment system uses.
Inputs are connections on the back of your devices. Using inputs, you connect
yourdevices to each other. For example, your DVD or cable box may be connected
toyour TV through an HDMI input. After you know how your devices are connected,
you can use the information tocreate your activities using My Harmony.
Step 1— Turn on all your devices
To determine which devices are using which inputs, you should start by turning on all
the devices in your entertainment system.
If possible, you should start playing something in your DVD player, CD player, VCR, etc.
By having all your devices on, it’s easier to see how they’re connected.
You can use the Device Worksheet on page 11 to keep track of which devices
areconnected using which inputs.
Step 2 — Watch the TV
In this step, you must use your TV’s original remote control to switch between inputs.
1. Using your TV’s original remote, press the input button and select each input
one-at-a-time.
2. For each input, note which device appears to be connected to that input.
For example, if you switch to HDMI 1 and see your DVD playing, you know
yourDVD player is connected to HDMI 1.
Step 3 — Listen to the sound
You need to complete this step only if you have a separate device (called an audio
receiver) that manages the sound for your entertainment system. For example,
you

may have a home theater system or connect your TV to your stereo so that
the

sound comes out of your stereo speakers.
You must use your audio receiver’s original remote control to switch between inputs.
1. Using your audio receiver’s original remote, press the input button and select
each input one-at-a-time.
2. For each input, note which device appears to be connected to that input.
For example, if you switch to OPTICAL 1 and hear the sound from your DVD
playing, you know your DVD player is connected to OPTICAL 1.

What are inputs... and why do I need to know about them?
Inputs are how your devices are connected. Your Harmony remote
needs to know your inputs so that it can switch them automatically
foryou when you start an activity.
Once you have gathered all of your information, take this worksheet to your computer
andcontinue setting up your Harmony remote.

Testing your remote
Every time you update your Harmony One+, you should test your remote to ensure
it’sworking the way you expect. This section gives you the information you need to
test your remote. It also has some suggestions on what to check while you’re testing
your setup.
If you run into specic issues while testing your remote, see Troubleshooting
problems with your Harmony One+ on page 17 for suggestions and possible xes
for your problems.
Testing your Harmony One+ is simple. Just try out the activities you use most often
anduse the on-remote help to correct any issues.
In some cases, you may need to return to My Harmony to make changes
toyourremote’s setup to ensure the remote is working the way you want.
To begin testing your remote:
1. Disconnect the USB cable from your remote.
If this is the rst time you’ve updated your remote, the Harmony One+’s tutorial
will appear on the touchscreen. Ensure all the devices in your entertainment
system are turned off.
2. If you are viewing the tutorial, follow the instructions displayed on the remote’s
screen.
3. Go to your entertainment system and try each of your activities.
For tips on what to look for when starting an activity, or switching between
activities, see below.
4. If an activity doesn’t start correctly, press the Help button on the remote
andthe on-remote help will get you back “in sync”. After you nish testing
youractivities, be sure to re-test any for which you had to use the Help button.
Testing your setup – Starting an activity
Look for these things in particular:
• Did all of your devices for that activity turn on?
• Do you hear the correct sound?
• If the activity includes your TV, do you see the correct picture?

Changing your setup
Whether you have a new device, or want to add favorite channels, or change the
behavior of some buttons, you may need to make changes to your Harmony One+’s
setup. In each case, you return to MyHarmony.com, and sign into your account.
Fromthe screen that appears, you select the appropriate option and follow the online
instructions.
Adding and changing activities
When changing an activity, you can add orremove the devices used, and change any
inputs or control options.
To add or change activities: Go to MyHarmony.com and sign into your account.
1. From My Harmony, to the Activities page by clicking the Activities tab
ortheYour Activities link.
2. Click the appropriate link to add or change activities.
3. After you have nished adding or changing activities, sync your remote.
The number of activities you can add depends on the devices you have added
toyouraccount.
Adding and changing devices
To add or change the devices that your Harmony One+ controls:
1. Go to MyHarmony.com and sign into your account.
2. From My Harmony, go to the Devices page by clicking the Devices tab
ortheYour Devices link.
3. Click the appropriate link to add or change devices.
4. After you have nished adding or changing devices, sync your remote.
Note: If you have already set up 15 devices (the maximum number of devices
fortheHarmony One+), the option for adding devices will not be available.
If you delete a device, any activities using the device will also
be deleted. Before deleting the device, modify any activities
that use the device. If you’re replacing a device, add the new
one rst, then modify your activities to use the new device,
then delete the old device.

Adding a passthrough device to an activity
A passthrough device is a device that you add to your system that a signal passes
through unaltered. For example, if you use your DVD recorder (or VCR) to record
shows from your cable or satellite receiver, you may need to add your DVD recorder
asapassthrough device to the Watch TV activity.
In these examples, the DVD recorder and the AV switch are used as passthrough
devices.

Changing buttons for a device or activity
You may wish to change how your remote buttons work for a particular device or
activity. For example, your TV might have a picture-in-picture feature that you would
like to make available on the remote. Using My Harmony, you can quickly and easily
add or customize how buttons work for any device or activity.
To change how buttons work in a device or activity:
1. Go to MyHarmony.com and sign into your account.
2. From My Harmony, go to the Buttons page by clicking the Buttons tab or
theChange or Fix What a Button Does link.
3. Click the appropriate link to change or x buttons.
4. After you have nished changing buttons, sync your remote.
You can change functions for both the xed buttons on your Harmony One+ remote,
and for the options displayed on the remote’s touchscreen. For screen options,
youcan change both the function and the label used to represent the function on
thetouchscreen.
Teaching commands using your old remote
If there’s a command on your original remote that doesn’t appear on
yourHarmonyremote, or doesn’t work properly, you can use your original remote
toteach the command to your Harmony remote.
To teach commands to your Harmony remote using your old remote:
1. Go to MyHarmony.com and sign into your account.
2. Follow the online instructions to change the buttons that appear on
yourremote or the options that are displayed on the remote’s screen.
3. Follow the instructions to add a command that is not included on the command
list, or x one that doesn’t seem to work right.
4. Follow the online instructions to teach the command to your Harmony remote.

When naming a command, Logitech suggests using the following naming conventions
tomake button assignment easier:
• Don’t use spaces or special characters such as /, & or * in the name.
• Capitalize the rst letter of each word (for example, NextDisc, ModeDigital).
• Start the command name with its main function (for example, VolumeRearUp,
VolumeRearDown, VolumeFrontUp). This helps group related commands.
• Start commands that select inputs (for example, on a stereo receiver) with the prex
“Input”. Don’t name the input based on what you’ve connected to your device;
instead,name it according to how it’s connected (for example, InputHDMI1,
InputHDMI2, InputVideo1, InputAux).
You can also teach commands from your original remote to the Harmony remote
while you are adding a device, while xing device settings, when adding a missing
command, or when xing a button or screen option.
Setting up favorite channels
You can set up favorite channels for your TV, or your cable or satellite receiver.
Ifyoursystem has more than one channel changing device, you should set
up thefavorite channels within your Watch TV activity for the device you use
tochangechannels.
To set up your favorite channels: Go to MyHarmony.com and sign into your account.
1. From My Harmony, go to the Favorites page by clicking the Favorites tab
ortheYour Favorite Channels link.

Troubleshooting problems with your Harmony One+
In this section, you’ll nd some commonly reported issues and the suggested solutions.
These solutions may help you x problems you’re experiencing. If you still cannot x
the problem, refer to Getting help with your Harmony One+ on page 18.
The TV doesn’t go to the right input when starting activities.
• From My Harmony, check your activity to ensure it is set up to use the correct
input for your TV. Next, check that the inputs are in the correct order so
theHarmony One+ can cycle through each input.
When you try to add a new TV to your account, you get a message
informing you that you haven’t entered the correct model number.
• The model number for many devices can be found on the front of the device.
Ifitisn’t there, it might be on a label on the back, bottom, or side of the device.
The model number shouldn’t be confused with the serial number for the device,
or the model number of the device’s remote control, as many dierent devices
bya manufacturer can share the same remote.
If you can’t nd a device’s model number, you can use the device’s original
remote to teach its commands to your Harmony remote. For more information,
seeTeaching commands using your old remote on page 15.
The On Demand command isn’t on the Harmony One+ for
theWatchTVactivity.
• You can map the command to any unused button on the Harmony One+ or on
the remote’s screen. The command is likely in our database, but wasn’t mapped
tothe activity. If we’re missing the command, the Harmony One+ can learn it
from your original remote. For more information, see Teaching commands using
your old remote on page 15.
My Harmony is unable to communicate with the Harmony One+.
• Ensure that the USB cable is plugged into your computer and into your remote.
Ensure that you are not connecting through a USB hub. If you are, connect the
cable directly to a computer USB port. Unplug the USB cable from your computer,
and plug it in again. Unplug the USB cable from your remote, and plug it in
again. Close your browser, start your browser again, and return to My Harmony.
PlugtheUSB cable into a dierent USB port of your computer. Disable any anti-
virus, rewall, or pop-up blocker program. Restart your computer.

Glossary
Activity
An activity is something you do with your entertainment system, like watching TV,
listening to music, or playing a game. With your Harmony remote, you can set up
anactivity so that a single button on the remote turns on the necessary devices,
andswitches them to the required inputs.
Amplier
A stereo component that outputs to speakers, and increases the gain or level of
anaudio signal. An amplier doesn’t typically include a radio.
Aspect ratio
The ratio of image width to image height. Common ratios are 1.85:1 and 2.35:1.
Television screens are usually 1.33:1 (also known as 4:3). HDTV is 1.78:1, or 16:9.
AV switch
A device with several audio and video source inputs that sends a selected audio/video
source input signal to an output device like speakers or a TV.
Device
A component in your home entertainment system.
DVD recorder (DVR)
A standalone unit that resembles and functions very much like a VCR. Like a VCR,
DVDrecorders all have AV source inputs; as well, it can record TV shows.
Input
Inputs are the connections on the back of your devices. Using these inputs,
youconnect your devices to each other.
In sync
The Harmony One+ knows what state all of your devices are in, such as whether
they are on or off and which inputs they were last using. When it loses track
ofthisinformation, it becomes “out of sync”. Your remote can send commands
toyourdevices to become “in sync” again.
IR (Infrared)
Type of signal used by most remote controls. Harmony remotes can control devices
that use IR for remote control.
Mini-system
A single unit that is some combination of the functionality of a DVD, VCR, radio,
andamplier. Also known as a home theater or home cinema.

Output device
A device that produces the sound or picture, for example, a TV or speakers.
Passthrough
A device that routes video or audio from one device to another device.
Personal Video Recorder (PVR)
Contains an internal recorder and player that records and plays video without
theuseof a removable tape or disc. Typically PVRs can pause, rewind, instantly replay,
and play slow-motion for live or recorded TV. Examples of PVR service providers
areTiVo, ReplayTV, UltimateTV, and Keen PM. Many cable and satellite providers also
provide PVR services and have PVRs included in some of their cable/satellite receivers.
Receiver
Also referred to as a tuner or a stereo receiver. A receiver can be any component
that receives or tunes broadcast signals, or AM/FM radio. Typically refers to the single
component that includes a preamplier, surround processor, multi-channel amplier,
and AM/FM tuner.
RF (Radio Frequency)
Used by some remote controls to control devices because it doesn’t have the same
line-of-sight restrictions as IR (infrared) signals.
