OPERATING
Always carry out the safety information described
in the “General Safety Information” section:
Before starting to drive, adjust the seat and joystick to
a comfortable position.
WARNING! Every wheelchair is different. Take
the time to learn the feel of your wheelchair
before you begin riding.
WARNING! BE AWARE that becoming a capable
and safe wheelchair operator will take time and
practice.
WARNING! Anti-tippers substantially reduce
your risk of tipping over backwards, which can
cause serious injury.
Please observe the following tips for a safe journey:
1. Always match your speed to the driving situation in
which you find yourself.
2. Always reduce your speed when you are driving
through:
- Unclear areas - narrow gaps
- Tight curves - inclines
- Ramps
3. Take a trial run with the wheelchair in an area with
no pedestrians, or in a closed-off area.
4. Steer the wheelchair carefully and slowly at first.
5. Always keep your feet on the footplate while driving
the wheelchair.
