Location

Power supply
Please connect the designated A C adapter to an AC outlet of the correct v oltage. Do not connect it to
an AC outlet of v oltage other than that for which y our unit is intended.
Interference with other electrical devices
Radios and televisions placed nearb y may e xperience reception interference. Oper ate this unit at a
suitable distance from r adios and televisions.
Handling
To av oid breakage, do not apply e xcessive force to the s witches or controls.
Care
If the e xter ior becomes dirty , wipe it with a clean, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners such as

Keeping foreign matter out of y our equipment
Nev er set any container with liquid in it near this equipment. If liquid gets into the equipment, it could
cause a breakdown, fire, or electrical shoc k.
Be careful not to let metal objects get into the equipment. If something does slip into the equipment,
unplug the AC adapter from the w all outlet. Then contact your nearest K org dealer or the store where
the equipment was purchased.

Setup
Turning the po wer on/off
When using batteries:
1. Slide the battery cov er (11) located on the underside of the case toward the UNLOCK
position, and remov e it. Inser t two AA alkaline batteries (included), being sure to
observe the correct polarity . Close the cover and slide it to the LOCK position to
fasten it in place.
2. When using batteries, the po wer will turn on when a
mono cable is plugged into the INPUT jac k (13). The
POWER LED (1) will light while the po wer is on.
The power will turn off when you remo ve the cable
from the INPUT jack.
Be sure to remov e the cable from the INPUT jac k when you are not using Ampworks
to preserve batter y lif e.
If you connect a stereo cab le, the power will not be turned on.
When the batteries r un down, the PO WER LED will b link. Replace the batteries as
soon as possible . Batteries that have become un usable should be remov ed from the
unit immediately . If dead batteries are left in the unit, they may leak or cause other
malfunctions. Y ou should also remo ve the batteries if you will not be using Ampworks
for an e xtended period.
When using the A C adaptor:
1. Connect the separately sold A C adaptor to the DC 4.5V jack (12), and plug the A C
adaptor into an AC outlet. The PO WER LED (1) will light, and the pow er will tur n on.
Use only the specified external AC adaptor . (DC 4.5V )
Be sure to disconnect the A C adaptor from the AC outlet when y ou are not using
Ampworks.
Connections
1.
Turn off the po wer of the equipment y ou want to connect, and lo wer each v olume control.
2. Connect y our bass to the INPUT jack (13).
3.
Set the LINE/AMP select s witch (14) to the appropriate position f or the output destination.
If you connect the output to a mix er , recorder , or headphones, use the "LINE" setting.
If you connect the output to a bass amp , use the "AMP" position. When AMP is
selected, the cabinet response will automatically be adjusted internally to optimize the
sound produced through a bass amp.
Use the "LINE" position if you are connecting Ampworks to a bass amp that has a
tweeter and deliv ers good high-frequency response.
4. Connect the OUTPUT jac k (15) to your mix er or bass amp .
The OUTPUT jack is stereo (TRS), so if y ou use a mono cable to connect it to your
bass amp etc., only the sound of the L (left) channel will be heard.
If you are listening through headphones , connect them to this jack.
If you are running into two channels of a mix er or using two amplifiers in stereo , use a
stereo to dual mono cable.
5.
If you w ant to use an e xternal foot s witch to change user progr ams, man ual settings or
bypass, connect the optional K org PS-1 or PS-100 f oot switch to the FOO T SW jac k (16).
6. When y ou hav e finished making connections, turn on the power of the connected
equipment and adjust the volume .
Selecting programs (sounds)
Preset programs (11 pro grams)
1. Press the PRESET b utton (2) to light the LED .
2. Turn the AMP TYPE selector (4).
Preset programs with cabinets and eff ects appropriate for each amp type will be
selected.
User progr ams (PROG1, 2), Manual
1. Press the PR OG/MANU button (3). Each time y ou press the button y ou will cycle
through the follo wing three settings.
PROG1 (LED lit green): User-writable program 1
PROG2 (LED lit red): User-writable program 2
MANUAL (LED lit orange): The current settings of the knobs and selectors
Bypass
When you select Bypass , you will only hear the direct (unprocessed) sound of y our bass.
When Ampworks is bypassed, the manual/progr am LED (PRESET or PROG/MANU) will
go dark.
•To bypass Ampw or ks, hold do wn the PROG/MANU button (3) f or about two seconds .
Press the PROG/MANU b utton once again to cancel bypass.
Creating your sound
To create your own sound, y ou can either star t with an existing progr am and modify it, or
create a sound from scratch. If y ou star t with an existing prog ram, select the desired
program, and then use the control knobs (6) to adjust the amp settings , or adjust the
eff ect and effect depth. Y ou can also try changing the cabinet. Alternatively if you w ant to
create your sound from scr atch, you can use the method described below . At this time
you ma y wish to press the PROG/MANU b utton (3) to select MANU AL.
1. Use the AMP TYPE selector (4) to select one of the ele ven amp types .
2. Use the CABINET selector (5) to select one of the ten types of cabinet models .
The combination of amp type and cabinets will determine the basic tonal character of
the amp. An y cabinet model can be used with any amp model. Some recommended
combinations are in the "Effect par ameter list." If you do not want to use eff ects , set
the EFF .DEPTH knob (8) to “0” (all the wa y to the left). ( )

To r e s tor e the factory settings
You can restore PR OG1 and PROG2 to the factory settings as f ollows.
• Hold down the WRITE button (10) and turn on the power .
Using the optional f oot switch
If the optional foot s witch (PS-1 or PS-100) is connected to the FOO T SW jack (16), y ou
can perform an operation at pow er-on to specify whether the foot s witch will change
programs or s witch bypass on/off .
If y ou want to use the footswitch to change pr ograms:
just turn on the power .
• Pressing the foot s witch will cycle in the order of PROG1 ➔ PROG2 ➔ MANU AL ➔
PROG1 ...
If you wan t to switch between bypass and a pr ogram:
turn on the power while holding down the PR OG/MANU button (3).
• Pressing the foot s witch will tur n bypass on/off . This allo ws you to s witch between one
program of choice and b ypass.
The operating mode of the f oot switch can be changed only b y this special operation
at power-on.

3. Use the control knobs (6) to adjust the gain, tone , and volume of the modeled amp .
Use the GAIN knob to adjust the gain. If the selected amp type is V AL VE – JAZZ,
adjusting the gain will also adjust the compressor depth. If the selected amp type is
STUDIO – UKMAJOR, the gain will vary the distor tion.
TREBLE, MIDDLE, and BASS adjust the tone. If the selected amp type is V AL VE –
JAZZ, you can use the MIDDLE knob to select one of fiv e center frequencies f or the
mid-range. Hold do wn the T AP button (9) and turn MIDDLE to switch center
frequencies.V OLUME adjusts the ov erall v olume.
Some tone settings may produce unw anted distor tion. If this happens, low er the
VOLUME.
4. Use the EFFECT selector (7) to select the desired modeled eff ect and use the
EFF .DEPTH knob (8) to adjust the eff ect le vel.
For some of the f ollowing eff ects, you can adjust the modulation speed, dela y time , or
rev erb time. The par ameter will be set to a value corresponding to the interval
(maximum 4 seconds) at which you press the T AP b utton (9) twice.

*Propor tion to T AP inter val means that f or e xample if FLANGE is selected, pressing
the T AP button at a 4-second interval will set the parameter v alue to twice that length,
or a modulation rate of eight seconds per cycle.
In addition to these settings, y ou can also adjust the depth of noise reduction by
holding down the T AP button (9) and turning the EFF .DEPTH knob (8).
5. If a user or preset progr am is selected, and you w ant to restore the setting of a
specific selector or knob to the setting stored in the program, turn that selector or
knob until the LED of the selected program (PRESET , PR OG/MANU) goes dark. The
LED will go dark for an instant, and then light again immediately .
If you select a diff erent program or turn off the power without sa ving an edited
program, y our changes will be lost.
Saving a program
You can store two of y our fa vorite settings in PR OG1 and PROG2.
1. Press the WRITE b utton (10). (The PROG/MANU button will b link.)
2. Press the PR OG/MANU button (3) to select where y ou wish to save y our program.
Each time you press the b utton, the selection will alter nate between PR OG1 (LED
blinking green) and PROG2 (LED b linking red).
3. Press the WRITE b utton once again to save y our settings. If y ou decide not to sav e
your settings, press the CANCEL b utton (2).
Data that had previously been in the writing-destination will be o verwritten and
erased.
The bypass on/off setting is not remembered.
