1. Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of the JOBO Photo Display CRYSTAL 12! Before operating the unit,
please read this manual thoroughly and retain it for future reference. Save the original box and all
packing material for future shipping needs.
This Photo Display lets you view digital pictures directly from your camera's memory cards. You will
be able to create a slideshow using multiple transition effects or display one picture at a time. No
computer, digital camera or Internet connection is required.

1.3. Getting Started – Set up the unit
Open the package and remove the protective foam.
Remove the protective sleeve from the unit.
Install the stand of the frame at the back of the unit.
Plug in the AC adapter into the power outlet. Plug the other end into the unit.
After having stored the files on the target flash media (memory card or USB flash drive),
insert the media into the according slot.

2. Operating the unit
2.1. Main menu
Turning on the Photo Display , you will enter the “MENU” screen. Use the left/right arrow to go to
“Set up”. Press “Auto/PLAY” button to enter the options screen. Use the Up / down arrows to
choose your auto start option. Press the “Card selection” button to open the following menu:

VOL - Decrease volume
VOL + Increase Volume
Music go to and display music files
Photo go to and display photo files
Rotate Rotate the current picture
Slideshow Start the slideshow
Mute instantly mute volume

Play/Pause and display OSD menu
Setup open menu for changing settings
Arrows Navigate on screen
Stop
Note: In all menus
, pressing the “Card selection” button will bring you back to the main menu.

NOTE: Icons of above mentioned functions shall appear automatically on the MENU screen when a
memory card is inserted. Icons shall disappear when correspondent card is removed from the card
slot.
2.2. Viewing Photos
Make sure you have at least one picture on your memory card or your USB flash drive. After that:
Select the desired flash media from the main menu. (SD/MMC/MS/USB)
Select the “PHOTO” option from the menu and press “AUTO/PLAY”
A Photo thumbnail will appear. Using UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT arrows you can move the
highlight. If the highlighted item is a folder, press “AUTO/PLAY” to enter the folder.
Press “AUTO/PLAY” to enter the slideshow mode.
Once a slideshow is playing or a picture is being shown, press the “AUTO/PLAY” button. The
following menu will appear:
Previous Play previous picture in the picture list
Play or Pause Play or pause the current slideshow
Next Play next picture in the picture list
Rotate Use the rotate function to change the picture
Orientation to either portrait or landscape format
Stop Stop slideshow and return to photo thumbnail
Zoom Increase the size of the picture by 2 /4 /8 or 16/1 times.
2.3. Watching video files
The Photo Display supports the following video formats:
Motion JPEG (.AVI): video format used by most digital cameras MPEG-I
MPEG-2
MPEG 4
Make sure you have at least one video on your memory card or your USB flash drive. When this is
done:
Select the desired flash media from the main menu (SD/MS/USB/MMC)
Select the “MOVIE” option from the menu and press “AUTO/PLAY”
Once a movie is playing, press the “AUTO/PLAY” button on the remote control. The following
menu will appear:
Previous Play previous movie in the play list
Fast Forward Play forward the movie by 2 /3 /4 times speed
Play or Pause Play or Pause the movie
Fast Backward Play backward the movie by 2 /3 /4 times speed
Next Play next movie in the play list
Stop Stop the movie and return to the play list
Zoom Increase the size of the picture by 2 /3 or 4/1 times.
2.4. Listening to Music
Make sure you have at least one MP3 file on your memory card or your USB flash drive. When this is
done:
Select the desired flash media from the main menu (SD/MS/USB/MMC)
Select the “MUSIC” option from the menu and press “AUTO/PLAY”
Press “VOL+” to increase the volume or “VOL-“ to decrease the volume on the remote control
Press “AUTO/PLAY ” button on the remote control to play or pause the music file
Press “STOP” button on the remote control to return to the card menu
2.5. Playing slideshows with background music
Ensure you have at least one picture on your memory card or your USB flash drive. Additionally, you
must have one MP3 file saved on the selected memory card/USB/Internal Memory. When this is
done:
Select the desired flash media from the main menu (SD/MS/USB/MMC)
Select the “FILE” option from the menu and press “Auto/PLAY”
Press “Slideshow” button on the remote control, an audio slideshow will begin
automatically.Once an audio slideshow is playing, press the “Auto/PLAY” button. The
following menu will appear:
Previous Play previous picture in the picture list
Play or Pause Play or pause the current slideshow
Next Play next picture in the picture list
Rotate Use the rotate function to change the picture
Orientation to either portrait or landscape format
Stop Stop the slideshow and return to photo thumbnail
Zoom Increase the size of the picture by 2 /4 /8 or 16/1 times
VOL Press VOL+ or VOL- on remote control to increase or
decrease the volume
2.6. Copying and Deleting Files
For copying and deleting files on your memory card, USB drive or internal memory (if applicable):
Select the desired flash media from the main menu (SD /MS/USB/MMC)
Select the “FILE” option from the menu and press “Auto/PLAY”
Press the “right arrow” to highlight the desired file. Repeat for all files that you want to
copy
Press the “SETUP” button to display the Copy and Delete menu. Select Copy function and
Press “PLAY” button to display the C:/ and D:/ menu .
Use “Up/Down” arrows to select the file destination folder. Press “Right” button to confirm.
Press “Auto/PLAY” to start copying the file.
Pressing “STOP” button will bring you back to the Copy and Delete menu.
Delete
Press the “right arrow” to highlight the desired file. Repeat for all files that you want to
copy
Press the “SETUP“ button to display the Copy and Delete menu. Select Delete function and
press “PLAY”. File will be deleted.
Press “STOP” button will bring you back to the Copy and Delete menu.
3. Connecting to a PC
The Photo Display has a USB port for connection to a PC (USB Slave) and a second USB port for
connection to other devices such as a Flash Drive, USB card reader (USB Host). When connected to
the PC you can drag-and-drop content from the PC to the internal memory (if applicable) or memory
card. You can also delete content from the internal memory.
NOTE: USB Slave and USB Host can not be used at the same time.
4. Using the SETUP option
Turning on the Photo Display , you will enter the MENU screen. Press the “SETUP” button on the
remote control to display the Setup menu. The following options can be changed by using the
“SETUP” option from the main menu:

Slideshow mode Off, Random, Fading, Expand to Top, Expand to Bottom, Expand to
Middle, Bottom to top, Top to bottom, Left to right, Right to left,
Door close, Door open, Horizontal Cross, Vertical Cross
Music Repeat Mode Repeat one, Repeat all, Repeat off
Movie Repeat Mode Repeat one, Repeat all, Repeat off
Display mode Normal, Wide
Time Year / Month / Date / Time setup
Alarm Alarm Time / Alarm Music / Alarm On/off setup
Brightness 0-16
Contrast 0-16
Saturation 0-16
Auto Power On Automatic start-up
Auto Power Off Automatic shut down
Auto Play Picture / Combo / Movie / Music / Calendar / Main Menu
Default Recover the factory default setup
NOTE: When entering the “setup” menu, you can only use the remote control for operation.
When setting the system function, the OSD buttons can’t be used for operation.
5. Calendar/Clock Display
When you turn on the Photo Display , you will enter the MENU screen. If you select Calendar/Clock
and press “PLAY”, you will enter the Calendar/Clock menu. If the Alarm function is turned on,
CRYSTAL 15 will also show the alarm time. A picture slideshow will be displayed in the picture
window at the right part of the screen.
6. Troubleshooting

Make sure to connect the AC adapter to the
frame properly. When you connect the AC
adapter to the frame and power on the unit,
even without a memory card, you should see
a blank screen. If you don’t see the lit
screen, check if the power is connected to
the Photo Display and make sure it is
securely attached.

Slow Memory Card Make sure you use a high-speed memory
card to play video files.
Small video size on the
screen
Low Video Resolution Most digital cameras take video in 320x240
or lower resolution. The best supported
resolution of a video is 640x480. Use the
Zoom button on the remote control to
enlarge it.
7. Maintenance and Precaution
The Photo Display is for indoor use only.
To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this appliance to rain or
moisture.
Do not block the ventilation holes on the back of the Photo Display at any time.
Keep your Photo Display s out of sunlight. Direct sunlight may cause damage.
Do not open the case of the Photo Display. There is a risk of electric shock, and there
are no user serviceable parts inside. Opening the case will void your warranty.
Do not use the Photo Display if conditions could allow condensation to occur, or damage
may result.
Your Photo Display is a complicated electronic device and cannot withstand shock from
drops.
8. Warranty conditions
This product is subject to the legal warranty periods relating to manufacturing faults and defects.

1. In the event of malfunctioning caused by manufacturing defects JOBO AG will repair or
replace the defective product at its own discretion.
2. JOBO AG and its suppliers do not assume any liability for data losses occurring during
operation of the device or consequential damage resulting from this. Under no
circumstances will JOBO AG assume liability for any direct, concrete or special damage or
consequential damage like for example damage to or loss of property or devices, loss of
profits or sales, costs for spare parts, expenditure or inconvenience caused by the
interruption of service or any other damage. The user will be exclusively responsible for the
loss, damage or destruction of data during the operation of a JOBO product. Under no
circumstances will JOBO AG be liable for the recreation of such data. Under no
circumstances can claims be lodged that exceed the purchase price of the product.
3. The following repairs are not covered by the warranty and must be paid for separately:
- Malfunctions after the end of the legal warranty periods
- Change of battery after the end of the warranty period
- Change of hard disk after the end of the warranty period
- Malfunctions due to incorrect operation by the user (if device is not used as
described in the manual)
- Malfunctions caused by other devices
- Changes or damage to the device not caused by the manufacturer; especially,
warranty claims will lapse if the device has been opened by anyone other than by a
JOBO AG repair workshop
- Damage caused by natural disasters (acts of God)
- A hard disk change during the warranty period must only be performed by JOBO.
Such a change by any other party will entail the loss of all warranty claims.
If you want to make any claims under the warranty you are asked to contact the Technical Service of
JOBO AG. You will be expected to quote the serial number of the JOBO product and may also have to
submit proof of purchase to show that the warranty period has not yet elapsed.
