Connections

Basic and Common Oper ations
This System can play back the following discs—r egular CD and CD-R/CD-R W (recorded either in the audio CD or MP3 f ormat).
• When playing back the MP3 track , MP3 indicator appears on the display .

The disc cover on the

Place a disc correctly with its label side up, then
press down on the portions around the disc’ s
center hole until you hear a click.
• When removing the disc, take out the disc
by holding it at the edge with pressing the
System ’ s pivot lightly.

DO NOT cut off the mains plug fr om this equipment. If
the plug fi tted is not suitable for the power points in y our
home or the cable is too short to reach a power point,
then obtain an appropriate safety approved extension lead
or consult your dealer .
BE SURE to replace the fuse only with an identical
approved type, as originally fi tted.
If nonetheless the mains plug is cut off ensure to remov e
the fuse and dispose of the plug immediately , to avoid a
possible shock hazard by inadvertent connection to the
mains supply .
If this product is not supplied fi tted with a mains plug then
follow the instructions given below:

DO NOT make any connection to the terminal which is
marked with the letter E or by the safety ear th symbol or
coloured green or g reen-and-yellow .
The wires in the mains lead on this product are colour ed in
accordance with the following code:
Blue: Neutral
Brown: Live
As these colours may not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your plug proceed as
follows:
The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to
the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured
black.
The wire which is coloured br own must be connected to
the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured
red.

Disconnect the mains plug to shut the power off completely.
When installing the apparatus, ensure that the plug is easily
accessible.
The button in any position does not disconnect the
mains line. The power can be r emote controlled .
• When the unit is on standby , the ST ANDBY lamp lights red.
• When the unit is turned on, the ST ANDBY lamp goes off .
CAUTION
T o reduce the risk of elec trical shocks, fi re, etc .:
1. Do not remove screws , covers or cabinet.

About the cooling fan
A cooling fan is mounted on the rear panel of the unit to pr event abnormal temperature inside the unit, thus assuring
normal operation of the unit.
Supplied Acc essories
After unpacking, check to be sure that you have all the
following items . The number in parentheses indicates the
quantity of each piece supplied.
• Remote control (x 1)
• Lithium coin battery CR2025 (x 1) ( T he batter y has been
installed when shipped from the factory.)
• AM loop antenna (x 1)
• FM antenna (x 1)
If anything is missing, consult y our dealer immediately .

Make sure the both speakers are connected correctly and
fi rmly.
When connecting the speaker cords, match the polarity of
the speaker terminals: white cord to (+) and white cord with
black stripe to (–).
NOTES
• DO NOT connect more than one speaker
to each terminal.
• DO NOT allow the conductor of the
speaker cords to be in touch with the
metallic parts of the System.
NOTES
• M ake sure the antenna conductors do not touch an y other terminals,
connecting cords and power cord. Also , keep the antennas away fr om
metallic parts of the System, connec ting cor ds, and the AC power cor d.
This could cause poor reception.
• I f the cords ar e covered with vin yl, remove the vin yl to expose the tip
of the cord by twisting the vinyl.

NOTES
• I f the disc cannot be read correctly (because it is scratched , for example) or an unreadable CD-R or
CD-R W is loaded, playback will not start.
• I f no disc is inserted, “NO DISC” appears on the main display.
Precautions
Notes on the power c ord
• When you are away on tra vel or otherwise for an extended period of time, remove the plug from the wall outlet. A small
amount of power (3.6 W ) is always consumed while the power cord is connected to the wall outlet.
• When unplugging the System from the wall outlet, always pull the plug , not the power cord .
• Do not handle the power cord with wet hands.
• Disconnect the power cord befor e cleaning the System or moving the System.
• Do not alter , twist or pull the power cord, or put an ything heavy on it, which may cause fi re, electric shock, or other accidents.
• If the cord is damaged, consult a dealer and have the power cor d replaced with a new one.
Av oid moisture , water , dust, and high temperatures
• Do not place the System in moist or dusty places.
• If water gets inside the System, turn off the power and r emove the plug from the wall outlet, then consult y our dealer . Using
the System in this state may cause a fi re or electrical shock .
• Do not expose the System to direct sunlight or place it near a heating device.
Notes on installation
• Select a place which is level, dry and neither too hot nor too cold between 5˚C and 35˚C.
• Do not install the System in a place subject to vibrations.
• Do not put heavy objects on the System.
T o prevent malfunction or damage of the Sy stem
• Do not inser t an y metallic objects, such as wires, hairpins, coins , etc. into the Syst em.
• Do not block the vents.
T o clean the cabinet
• Use a soft cloth. Follow the r elevant instructions on the use of chemically-coated cloths.
• Do not use benzene, thinner or other organic solvents and disinf ectants. These may cause def ormation or discoloring.

Disconnect the supplied FM antenna,
and connect to an outdoor FM antenna
using a 75 Ω wire with coaxial type
connector (IEC or DIN45325).

CAUTION:
• Do not block the ventilation openings or holes. (If the
ventilation openings or holes are blocked by a newspaper
or cloth, etc., the heat may not be able to get out.)

• When discarding batteries, envir onmental problems
must be considered and local rules or laws governing the
disposal of these batteries must be followed strictly .
• Do not expose this apparatus to rain, moisture, dripping
or splashing and that no objects fi lled with liquids, such
