Dancing the monkeys’ dance
King Zongo invites everybody to dance.
Choose your favorite zongo cards and put them face up in a row.
At the beginning you shouldn’t take too many cards, three to four
are sufficient.
First try to imitate the movements shown, without music.
Then turn on the music and imitate the movements to the rhythm
of the music. Repeat the movements again and again in the
same order.
Try to make the movements at the same time and you will
succeed in performing an authentic monkeys’ dance. It will be
easier if you count the beat together.
Later you can also take more or different zongo cards.
You also can name a player to be King Zongo: they then show
the dance steps and the other players copy them.
King Zongo wishes you lots of fun dancing ...

King Zongo’s Variation for 2 players
The monkeys’ dance for two players is carried out like the basic
game, except for the following changes:
• Each player gets only two coconuts.
• You first have to search for the matching zongo card of the
other player. Then you quickly try to cover the zongo card
matching your monkey before the other player does so.
• Whoever bends their rubber monkey in such a way that it
doesn’t match any zongo card, can not take a card in this
round. Instead the other player can take a card of their choice
from the middle.
Whoever is the first to collect 8 zongo cards, wins the monkeys
dance duel.
Simpler variation
For 3 - 4 players.
How the game can be simplified:
• Each player only receives one coconut.
• You only play with one rubber monkey. Each round a different
player bends the monkey as the rubber monkey is passed on
one by one in a clockwise direction after each round.
• The player who bends the monkey can not place a coconut in
this round.
• Whoever has placed their coconut first on the right zongo
card gets the card as a reward.
Whoever is the first to collect four zongo cards wins the game.
