The identity card facilitates criminal investigation by the police in
case of radio theft and speeds settlement of an insurance claim by
providing evidence of ownership.
Note:
Keep the card in a safe place, out of reach of unauthorised
persons.
If the code number is lost (identity card), only a dealer can put
the radio back into operation after you provide proof of owner-
ship and pay a fee.
The code label, placed on the inside of the car window for high visi-
bility, shows everyone: The car radio is worthless to thieves!
Coding
If the code is activated and the car radio is disconnected from the
car battery (or permanent plus terminal 30) of your vehicle, the
radio is electronically disabled. Only you can start it again by
entering your personal code number. For information about how
this is done, see the chapter “Coding” from page 38.
Removing and refitting the control panel
In addition to activating coding, you can remove the control panel
from the car radio and take it with you. This renders the car radio
worthless to thieves. If you remove the control unit when the radio is
switched on, the radio is switched off.
Hold the control unit and press on the lock below the »
łł
« symbol.
The control unit is released and can be removed.
Keep the removed control unit always in its case. If you should lose
the control unit, you may purchase another one after you provide
proof of ownership (e.g. with your identy card) and pay a fee.
Please consult your car radio dealer.
To put the radio into operation again, push the control unit into the
opening where it has been until it locks in place.
