5) Do not use the equipment near to water.
6) Only clean the appliance with a dry cloth.
7) Do not block the ventilation slots. Install the appliance in accordance with the manufacturers
instructions.
8) Do not place the appliance near a heat source, e.g. radiator, oven or other heat producing
equipment (including amplifiers).
9) Do not remove or damage the seal of the polarised or earthed plugs. A polarised plug has two
connectors, one wider than the other. An earthed plug has two connectors plus a third earthed
connector. The wider or third connector is provided with safety in mind. If the delivered plug does
not fit in your plug socket, ask an electrician to change the old plug socket
10) The electricity cable should be placed in such a way that it cannot be walked on or pinched, pay
particular attention near the plug and plug socket as well as at the point where the cable exits the

6
SAFETY ADVICE
Follow all safety instructions. Un-plug the monitor from the
mains before cleaning. To
clean, wipe with a damp cloth,
do not use any liquid detergent
or sprays.
Never connect accessories
which have not been expressly
permitted by the manufacturer.
Such accessories could
increase the risk of burns,
electric shocks and other
injuries.
Do not place the monitor near to water, e.g.
baths, sinks, washing machines, swimming
pools, etc.
Do not place the monitor on an unstable trolley,
stand, tripod, frame, table or floor where it may
tip over. A fallen monitor can cause serious
injury to a child or
adult as well as
damaging the material
itself. Only use
trolleys, stands,
tripods, frames or
tables which are
recommended or sold
by the manufacturer of
the appliance. Move
monitors and trolleys carefully. Abrupt
stopping, overly strong efforts and uneven
surfaces could cause damage to the monitor
and the trolley.
Questions about
vertical montage
should be made
directly to the
manufacturer.
Wide-Monitor
When placing the monitor on a table, pay strict
attention that it is not placed on the edge of the
base.
The monitor could fall off and cause severe injury
to a child or adult as well as to the material itself.
7
SAFETY ADVICE
100-240V AC
AC100-125V AC200-240V AC240 (TYPE SAA)
Ensure that there is good ventilation. Ventilation
slots can be found in the monitor housing to prevent
over-heating. Under no circumstances should these
slots be blocked by objects, additionally the monitor
should not be placed on a bed, sofa, rug or similar
surface. Do not place the appliance in close
proximity to radiators or any heat source. Should
the monitor be placed on a shelf or in a cupboard,
ensure that there is suitable air-circulation and that a
gap of at least 30cm exists between the ventilation
slots and the shelf above as well as to the left and
right of the appliance. The manufacturer accepts
no liability for potential damage caused by the lack
of suitable ventilation.
In order to avoid electric shocks, only use the
electricity cable recommended for this appliance.
The monitor is supplied with a mains voltage of
100-240V AC and the enclosed mains cable is
equivalent to this exact voltage. To guarantee
safety and the EMV regulations, only use the mains
cable recommended by our retailers. If the
appliance is used with another supply voltage, the
mains cable must also be changed. Please contact
your retailer. Ensure that the plug socket is
within easy reach when assembling the appliance so
that it can be quickly disconnected from the mains
in the event of an emergency.
Earth connectors
AC 100-240V
Only use earthed or polarised plug sockets. This
monitor is equipped with a polarised AC power
capacity plug for your safety, of which one
connector is wider than the other. This plug only
fits into the socket one way. Should you not be
able to fully insert the plug, try inserting it the other
way up. An electrician should be contacted if the
plug can still not be inserted into the socket, so that
the plug socket can be changed.
Avoid overhead wires. An external antenna
should never be attached in the direct vicinity of
overhead cables, electric lights or power lines, or in
places where such mains or overhead power lines
can fall onto it. Proceed very carefully when
installing an external antenna, ensure that you do
not touch any power lines or electric circuits. The
touching of such lines can result in fatalities.
Un-plug the monitor from the mains and disconnect
the antenna or antenna cable during thunderstorms
or when the appliance is not being used for a long
period of time. This protects the appliance from
damage in the event of lightening strike or power
surges.
Protect the electricity cable. The electricity cable
should be placed in such a way that it cannot be
walked on or pinched by objects laid on top of it.
Pay particular attention near the plug and the plug
socket as well as at the point where the cable exits
the appliance.
8
SAFETY ADVICE
Do not overload wall mounted
plug sockets or extension leads.
Overload can lead to burns or
electric shocks.
Do not stick objects into the
openings on the appliance,
otherwise you will touch
particularly dangerous voltage
points and you could damage
appliance parts. Never allow any
kind of liquid to penetrate the
monitor.
Protect the antenna cable between
the inside and outside of the
building, thus preventing the
penetration of rainwater.
Otherwise water could penetrate
the monitor and lead to electric
shocks.
Earth external antennas. When connecting an external antenna or cable system to the appliance, the antenna or
cable system must be earthed in such a way that it protects against power surges and electro-static charges.
Article 810 of the National Electricity Law, ANSI/-NFPA No. -1984-1984, gives information regarding the
faultless earthing of antenna masts and their protection, earthing of the supply wiring of an antenna loading unit,
the size of earth wires, the installation location of an antenna loading unit and the connection to an earth
electrode.
Do not install an external antenna in the vicinity of
overhead cables, lights or electricity wiring.
- This could lead to electric shocks.
There should be sufficient distance left between an
external antenna and electricity cables so that the
electricity cables are not touched, including if the
antenna should fall.
- This could lead to electric shocks.
Do not attempt to repair the monitor. Repairs should only be carried out by qualified maintenance
technicians. Un-plug the appliance from the mains and consult a customer service advisor for help in the
following situations:
z In the event of damage to the electricity cable or plug socket.
z If liquid has been spilled onto the appliance or objects have fallen on it.
z If the monitor has been exposed to rain or water.
z If the monitor does not function correctly despite having followed the operating instructions.
z If the monitor has been dropped or the housing has been damaged.
z If the monitor suffers a strong loss of power.
9
SAFETY ADVICE:
Should replacement parts be
necessary to repair the appliance,
ensure that the customer service
technician carrying out the repairs
uses parts which have been
expressly recommended by the
manufacturer, or which have the
identical qualities of the original
parts. Unlicensed parts could
cause further damage to the
appliance.
After each repair or maintenance
check, please ask the customer
service technician to carry out a
safety check to ensure that the
Monitor is working without
faults.
If you carry out the installation
yourself, remain within the
parameters, which are described
in detail in the instruction
manual. Other settings could
damage the appliance and often
result in the need for extensive
work by a qualified technician to
bring the monitor back to its
normal setting.
Only use the type of battery
indicated.
- Non-adherence to this
instruction could lead to damage
to the monitor or electric shock.
Do not place any objects
containing liquid on top of the
appliance.
- The non-adherence to this
instruction could lead to damage
to the monitor or electric shock.
If smoke or a strong smell comes
out of the monitor, switch it off
immediately, un-plug the
electricity cable and inform the
customer service agent or retailer.
- Non-adherence to this
instruction could lead to damage
to the monitor or electric shock.
The distance between your eyes
and the monitor should always be
5 – 7 times as big as the diagonal
width of the monitor.*
Otherwise it could make your
eyes water.
If the monitor with attached loud
speakers is to be taken to a
different location, under no
circumstances carry the appliance
by the loudspeakers. The
monitor could fall down and
cause severe injury to a child or
adult as well as damaging the
material itself.
Avoid fixed images over long
periods of time. Such pictures
generally originate from video
recorders. If a picture image
or test signal is available, then it
can burn into the monitor.
10
Attention: PLEASE NOTE
Picture freezing
Please do not leave a single image (e.g. from a video game) showing on the plasma or LCD monitor, this can lead to the screen
freezing. This phenomenon is also known as ‘Screen Burn’. In order to avoid this phenomenon, please reduce the brightness
and contrast of the monitor if a single image is showing.
Heat on the top side of the plasma or LCD TV
The topside of the appliance can become hot after prolonged use, this is due to heat emanating from the ventilation slots on the
upper part of the housing. This is totally normal and means that is not due to any damage to the appliance or a malfunction.
Children should, however, not be allowed to touch the upper part of the appliance.
The appliance makes ‘cracking’ noises
A ‘crack’ can occur if the appliance expands or contracts due to changes in the environment such as temperature or humidity.
This is normal and does not mean that the appliance is faulty.
Pixel cell defects
Plasma or LCD displays use a large number of pixels, requiring highly developed technology. One or two light or dark pixels
can appear on the screen though. These pixels have no effect on the performance of the appliance.
Avoid using the television in temperatures below 5°C (41ºF).
A still image left on the screen for too long can lead to permanent damage to the Plasma/LCD
monitor.
Leaving an image on the plasma or LCD TV for too long can result in traces being left
on the left, right and centre of the screen. This is brought about by differences in
the luminous radiation of the monitor. The reproduction of a DVD or video game can
have a similar effect on the monitor. The damages evoked by this effect are not covered in the guarantee.
After-image
The display of a still-image for a long period of time from a video or computer game can cause the display of after-images. To
avoid these effects, you should reduce the ‘contrast’ and ‘brightness’ when displaying still images on the screen for long periods
of time.
Guarantee
The guarantee does not cover any damages due to screen burns.
Burnt-in images are not covered in the guarantee.
Installation
Please use a qualified customer service technician for the installation of your appliance in environments with large amounts of
dust, high or low temperatures, high levels of humidity and chemical substances or if the appliance is to be used 24 hours a day,
e.g. in an airport, train station, etc.
This could otherwise lead to damage to the appliance.
