Recording Your Duty Status

Select Apps > Hours of Service.

Select a driver.

Select Duty Status.

Select an option:

• Select Off Duty to record the time you are off duty.

• Select Sleeper to record the time you are resting in a

sleeper berth.

• Select Driving to record the time you are driving a

commercial motor vehicle in operation.

• Select On Duty to record the time you are on duty, but not

driving a commercial motor vehicle.

• Select Passenger Seat to record the time a second driver

is in the passenger seat but is not on duty.

NOTE: A driver can be in passenger seat status for up to

two hours immediately after or before eight consecutive

hours in the sleeper berth.

Select Save.

About Drivers

If you work for more than one carrier in a 24-hour period, you

must record each carrier.

You must record the time zone of your home terminal even if

you cross other time zones.

Adding Drivers

Select Apps > Hours of Service.

Select .

Follow the on-screen instructions.

Managing Driver Information

Select Apps > Hours of Service.

Select a driver.

Select Driver Info.

Select an option:

• To edit the information, select a field.

• To delete the driver, select > Delete Driver > Yes.

Viewing and Editing Driver Journals

The driver journal allows you to view and edit a timeline of the

hours of service information entered for each driver.

NOTE: Editing driver journal information may not be available

for all device configurations, such as when the device is

integrated with an automatic on-board recording device

(AOBRD).

Select Apps > Hours of Service.

Select a driver.

Select View Journal.

A timeline appears for the current date. The time spent in

each status is highlighted on the timeline.

Select an option:

• To view a different date, select the date at the top of the

screen.

• To view status details, select a highlighted status on the

timeline.

• To record a new status, select an empty block on the

timeline, and edit the status and time information.

TIP: The location of the block on the timeline determines

the default status and time information. The row

determines the status, and the column determines the

time.

• To view violation information, select .

Adding Shipments

Select Apps > Hours of Service.

Select a driver.

Select Manage Shipments > .

Enter the reference information, and select Done.

TIP: The reference number is the shipping document

number, or the name of the company and group you are

transporting.

If necessary, select Start Day.

If necessary, select End Day.

Select Save.

Managing Shipments

NOTE: This feature is not available in all areas.

Select Apps > Hours of Service.

Select a driver.

Select Manage Shipments.

Select a shipment.

Select an option:

• To edit the shipment information, select a field.

• To delete the shipments, select > Delete Shipment >

OK.

Exporting a Driver Journal

Select Apps > Hours of Service.

Select a driver.

Select Export Journal.

If necessary, enter your tractor number, tractor VIN, and

trailer number.

If necessary, select a journal to export.

If necessary, select a storage location for the exported

journal.

The device exports the journal to a .csv file and stores it in the

Reports folder in the device memory.

Viewing Exported Driver Journals

NOTICE

If you do not know the purpose of a file, do not delete it. Your

device memory contains important system files that should not

be deleted.

Connect the device to your computer (Connecting the Device

to Your Computer, page 19).

From the file browser on your computer, browse to the device

storage or memory card, and open the Reports folder.

Open the HOSexports folder.

Open the .csv file.

Garmin eLog

The Garmin eLog adapter enables a motor carrier to comply

with hours of service logging and break requirements. When a

Garmin eLog adapter is paired with your compatible mobile

device, you can view hours of service information on your dēzl

device. The Garmin eLog adapter is not available in all areas.

NOTE: Garmin eLog features are not available when using the

car vehicle profile.

Device

Pair your Garmin eLog adapter with the Garmin eLog app on

your mobile device (Setting Up Your Garmin eLog Device,

page 13).
