DBE-1510 is a terric resource f or nding
translations of thousands of words .
Y ou can search for inected f orms of words,
correct misspellings, learn verb conjugations ,
and nd conversa tional phrases. Study rules
of grammar and build your vocabulary using
a personal word list, TOEFL® T est* and SA T®
Spanish Subject T est

1.2 Installing the Batteries
Y our product is powered b y two CR-
2032 lithium batteries. F ollow these easy
instructions to install or replace them. Please
have the new batteries and a small scr ewdriver
at hand before y ou remove the old ones .
1. T urn your product o and turn it over .
2. Use the screw driver to unscrew the
batter co ver screw .
3. Lift o the battery cover .
4. Remove the old ba tteries.
Note: Use a paper clip, if necessary , to
remove the old batt eries.
5. Install the batteries positive (+) side
facing up .
Important: Be sure that the batteries are
installed correctly . Wrong polarity may
damage the unit.
6. Replace the battery cov er and secure it
with the screw .
W arning: I f the batteries wear-out completely
or if you take more than a f ew seconds while
changing the batteries, an y information that
was entered in the built-in books ma y be
erased. Y ou should always keep written copies
of your important information.

Understanding the Menus
The Books tab enables you to look up
Spanish translations of English words and
English translations of Spanish words . Y ou can
conjugate English or Spanish wor ds and search
for English or Spanish con versational phrases.
Y ou can also look up denitions of English
words.
The Learning tab enables you t o access My
Voc abular y List, search for English or Spanish
usage examples, and read English or Spanish
grammar lessons. Y ou can also access the
TOEFL® T est and SA T® Spanish Subject T est
word lists.
The Exer cises tab allows you to ac cess Spelling
Bee and Flashcar ds. Y ou can tr y both exercises
using English words sav ed to My V ocabulary
List and those found in the TOEFL® T est word
list. Y ou can also tr y the exercises using
Spanish words sav ed to My V ocabulary List and
those found in the SA T® Spanish Subject T est.
The Games tab allows you to ac cess the seven
games included in your device: Hangman ,
Conjumania, Gender T utor, Wor d T rain, Guess the
Wor d, Word Auction and W ord Blaster. Y ou can
also adjust the game settings.
The Setup tab allows you to ac cess a
demonstration and tutorial of how this device

V iewing English Inec tions
If you are unfamiliar with inections, it may
be helpful to look at some inected forms
of English verbs. Switch the en try language
back to English, type write , and press C ONJ to
see the dierent f or ms of the English verb “to
write” .

Explanation of Genders
Spanish nouns are dier ent than English
nouns in that they must either be masculine or
feminine. Each denition of a noun indicat es

Misspelling W ords
If you enter a misspelled word , a list of
corrections appears. Highlight the word y ou
want and then press

to see its entry.
Choosing Multiple F orms
Some words in the dictionaries have more
than one form (e.g . sí , si ). When the word y ou
are looking up has multiple forms, the dier ent
forms appear in a list.
Simply highlight the form you want and pr ess

Spanish -> English from the Books menu, then
type si at the word entry screen.

Ac centing L etters
Y ou can look up accented words without
typing accents. If there are no Multiple F orms,
the dictionar y will take you directly to the
word. If there ar e M ultiple Forms , you will have

Forms list. See “Choosing Multiple F orms” for
more information. Remember , if you want to
enter an accent y ourself , type the letter and
press until the appropriate accent appears.
2.2 Highlighting W ords
Another way to look up wor ds in the Spanish-
to-English and English-to-Spanish dictionar ies
is by highlighting them in entries or word lists .

Conjugations show inections, or changes in a
word’ s gender , tense, etc. This device includes
extensive inections of Spanish and English
nouns, verbs, modiers , and other words .
This will give y ou a good idea of each inection

Understanding Confusables
Confusables are homon yms, homophones and
spelling variants that are easy to confuse , e.g.
rain, reign, rein. If the wor d you looked up is a

Highlighting W ords
Y ou can highlight words in the English
Dictionar y just as you would in the English-to-
Spanish and Spanish-to-English dictionaries,
but you will only be able to look them up
within the English Dictionar y and you cannot
add them to My Voc abular y List.
