Troubleshooting, Causes and Repairs
Before any maintenance and cleaning work unplug the connector of the spark plug!
Before any maintenance work on the chain saw:
• Stop the engine and allow it to cool a little,
• Unplug the connector of the spark plug,
• Wear protective gloves.
Any other problems, which cannot be repaired according to this table, must be repaired only by an authorised service.).
Saw chain sharpening

For inexperienced users of the chainsaw, we recommend to have the chain sharpened by a specialist from any authorised
service.
Never work with a blunt or damaged saw chain. As a result of working with a blunt or damaged saw chain, there may appear huge physical
tiredness, wrong cuts and high wearing of the chain.
To sharpen the saw chain, use suitable sharpening tools:
• Round chain file Ø =4,0 mm,
• File leading
• Chain measuring calibre.
These tools can be bought in any specialised stores.
To gain well shaped sawdust particles, use a sharp chain. If wooden powder appears, you must sharpen the saw chain.
All cutting teeth must be similarly long. Different lengths of teeth can cause rough running of the chain or its rupture.
• The minimum length of the teeth must be 4 mm. If they are shorter, remove the saw chain.
• The angles, which the teeth are under, must be followed.
Problem Possible Cause Repair
The engine does not start. No petrol Fill up with petrol.
Wrong starting procedure Follow the starting instructions.
Sooty sparking plug Check / replace the spark plug.
Sooty air filter Clean the air filter.
Sooty fuel filter Check / replace the fuel filter.
Insufficient performance of the engine, non
smooth running of the engine.
Wrong choke lever position Move the choke lever to the right position.
Sooty air filter Clean the air filter.
Sooty spark arrester screen Check / replace the spark arrester screen.
Wrong carburettor settings Check the carburettor settings –> authorised
service.
Sooty / defected spark plug Check / replace the spark plug.
Excessive amount of smoke. Wrong fuel mixture Empty the fuel tank and replenish with the
correct fuel mixture.
Wrong carburettor settings Check the carburettor settings –> authorised
service.
The chain does not oil. Empty oil tank Check the oil tank / replenish oil for saw
chains
Sooty guide bar Clean the hole for oil distribution / drain for oil
supply.
