1.0 Introduction
Congratulations with the purchase of this high-quality e-Domotica product! This
product has undergone extensive testing by e-Domotica technical experts. Should you
experience any problems with this product, you are covered by a five-year e-Domotica
warranty. Please keep this manual and the receipt in a safe place.
1.1 Functions and features
Warn yourself and others at home upon the detection of smoke using this wireless
EM6590 e-Domotica Smoke Detector. Get an early warning when a smoke or fire is
started from this advanced smoke sensor.
This devices does not only function stand alone (like other smoke sensors), but can
also send a wireless signal to the e-Domotica e-Centre base station. This feature

enables the possibility to automatically switch on lighting, close windows, open
curtains and activate additional sirens.
When smoke is detected a wireless signal is sent to the e-Domotica e-Centre. The e-
Centre will active the internal siren but also optionally one or more EM6575 e-
Domotica sirens and send a signal to the e-Domotica portal to notify yourself and
others by phone and text message about the smoke alarm.
1.2 Packing contents
The following parts need to be present in the packing:

2.0 Installing the battery
The 9V DC battery is located in the battery compartment, but not yet connected.
Unscrew the top part from the bottom part of the smoke sensor (counter
clockwise).
Unplug the connector cable (be careful).
Open the battery compartment using the lever (5).
Take out the battery from the compartment.
Remove the foil of the battery.
Connect the batter y to the battery connector inside the battery
compartment.
Plug in the cable with connector back on the connector socket. Note the
colouring order of the cables:

The LED of the smoke detector will lit shortly after the connector is plugged
in. Do not close the housing yet.
3.0 Adding the smoke detector to an e-
Domotica e-Centre Base Station
You can now add the EM6590 e-Domotica Smoke Detector to your e-Domotica e-
Centre base station, follow these steps.
Tips:
If you already use 230V powered e-Domotica accessories, you are able to include the
smoke sensor on the location where the motion sensor needs to be mounted. The
benefit of doing this is that the e-Domotica accessories learn the communication route
to the e-Centre directly.
You might need to enable ‘Normal/High power (below the ‘Include’ button). This
option is available to include devices on a greater distance.
1. Make sure your computer is completely started.
2. Open your computer’s web browser.

3. Enter “http://ecentre” in the address bar of your web browser and press the
‘Enter’ key on your keyboard. Or go to http://192.168.1.100 if this is the IP
address of your e-Centre.
4. The webpage of the e-Centre will be shown.
5. Go to the ‘e-Domotica Products’ page.
6. Click the ‘Add’ button. The e-Centre will start to search for new e-Domotica
devices.
7. Press on the button of the smoke sensor three times within 1.5 seconds. (See
number 7 of Image 1)
The e-Centre webpage will inform you if the product is found.
If the product is not found, click the ‘Remove button on the webpage. Press the button
on the smoke sensor three times within 1.5 seconds to exclude/empty the device. You
can now include the device again using the steps above.
8. Provide a name and location for the device and click ‘Save’.
9. The EM6590 is now added to your e-Centre and can be used.
10. Screw the back panel on the smoke sensor.

4.0 Setup a Smoke-/Gas alarm

1. On the e-Centre webpage, click on ‘Alarm Settings’ in the menu on the left hand
side.
2. Click on the edit button next to the Smoke-/Gas alarm.
3. Select one or more smoke sensors for this smoke alarm.
4. Alarm Events: You can use a scene to be triggered upon the detection of smoke.
When one or more smoke sensors detect smoke, the selected scene will be
triggered. For example, if you have defined a scene called ‘All On’ which
switches all lamps on in your house, you will be able to find your way out of your
house once the sensor detects smoke.
5. Siren Settings: The e-Centre has a siren function with several sounds and
settings you can change.
a. Siren Sound: Select one of the 5 sounds to be played by the e-Centre
once this alarm is triggered.
b. Siren Sound Duration: Change this setting if you want to have the siren
to go off a longer or shorter period (in minutes).
c. Maximum number of Siren Count: The number of times the siren
should go off.
6. Portal Settings: Enable this option if you want to send a signal to the e-Domotica
Portal once a smoke alarm is detected. This allows you to notify yourself and/or
contact persons about the smoke alarm.
This option is only possible if your e-Centre is connected to the internet and
registered on the portal.
7. Click ‘Save’ to save the settings. You will return to the previous page
automatically
Note! If you use a gas detector: Executing a scène to switch on appliances and
lighting may cause a spark and explosion hazard. Therefore it is not recommended to
switch lighting or devices when both smoke and gas detectors are used.
5.0 Setup your personal smoke alarm system
using the e-Domotica Portal.
The EM6590 Smoke Sensor can be used with the e-Domotica Portal. This allows you
to notify yourself and other contact persons, upon the event of smoke or fire.
This option is only possible if your e-Centre is connected to the internet and registered
on the portal. Also, you need to have added at least one (1) contact person for
reference.
1. Log in to the e-Domotica portal with your username and password.
2. Click in the menu on the left hand side on the option ‘Alarm setup’.
3. Click on theChange button ( ) at the right hand-side of the smoke alarm.
4. The following options appear: “Contact persons”, “Notifications” and “Assign
camera”. Refer to the following image:

5.1 Adding contact persons
When you have added one or more contact persons during the first setup of your e-
Centre (refer to the manual of the EM6505), these contact persons are noticed here.
Refer to the following image for an example:

Select one or more contact persons under ‘Available contact persons’ and use the
‘Add’ button to change them to the right side, under “Selected contact persons”.
You can also drag and drop the contact persons from left to right and in reverse, using
your mouse.
Click ‘Save and continue’.
5.2 Setup notifications to Contact persons
On this tab, you can decide in which ways the contact persons may be notified, in
case an alarm is fired. Refer to the following image for an example:

Check the options you want to use for the contact person(s). In this example, Mr. John
Smith will be notified by phone, SMS and email.
Click ‘Save and continue’.
5.3 Assigning a camera to the Smoke alarm
On this tab, you can assign an e-Domotica camera to the Smoke alarm. Refer to the
following image for an example:

When the smoke alarm is fired, the e-Centre will send the recorded images from the
selected camera to the e-Domotica Portal. These images will be stored on the e-
Domotica Portal, under the tab ‘Recordings’ in the left menu. This way, you can check
instantly if the alarm notification is real or maybe false.
Select the camera in the dropdown menu.
Click ‘Save and finish’ to save your configuration and finish the wizard.
In the manual of the EM6505, assigning a e-Domotica IP camera to the e-Centre is
fully explained.

6.0 Mounting the smoke detector
This smoke detector is designed to be used in a house or small office (at home). It is
recommended to use severals smoke detectors at home to detect a fire or smoke
even quicker.
6.1 Choosing a mounting location
To get a full cover of the detection area it is recommended to use several smoke
detectors. Preferably in every room where you live and sleep. A minimum required
detection area can be obtained by installing a smoke detector on every floor and every
bedroom.

1. Install at least 2 smoke sensors per Household.
2. If a hallway or stairway is 12 meters or longer, install a smoke sensor on both
ends of the hallway.
3. It is recommended to install smoke detectors in every bedroom.
4. Install smoke detectors as close as possible to a ceiling of a room. If this is not
possible, put the detector no closer than 10 cm from any wall or corner.

5. If you cannot mount the smoke detector to a ceiling, mount the smoke detector
on a wall but 10 – 15 cm from the ceiling.
6. If the ceiling of the room is sloped, peaked or you have a gabled ceiling, try to
mount the detector 0.9 meter measured horizontally from the highest Point of the
ceiling as shown in the next image:
