directional operation.
2.2 Packing contents
The following parts need to be present in the packing:
• EM1018, USB to Parallel Converter.
• Manual.
2.3 Before you begin
1. This product is suited for Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Vista.
2. Your computer or notebook should be equipped with an available USB port.
3. This product can be connected to a printer equipped with a 36 pin Centronics
connector. (Fitted on most printers).
3.0 Installing the hardware
1. Make sure that your printer is installed properly on your computer. After this,
make sure that all the equipment is turned off before starting the installation.
2. Connect the USB to parallel cable to an available USB port on your Notebook or
Desktop PC.
3. Connect the Centronics connector to your printer.
4. Power on all equipment and wait until the computer is rebooted.
5. Windows will automatically detect new hardware. Windows will locate the drivers
and install them on your system. It will be installed as ‘USB Printing Support’ in
Windows 2000 or higher. Windows will now make a virtual printer port. Notice
that this is not a normal printer port like LPT1 or LPT2.
6. Your printer will be recognized and installed automatically.
7. After installation please restart your computer.
8. When your computer is finished, go to ‘Start’, ‘Settings’. Then go to ‘Printers’.
9. Right click on the printer and open ‘Properties’.
10. Go to the ‘Ports’ tab. Check if ‘USB001’ is selected (for example) and not LPT1
or LPT2.
11. To check if the USB to Parallel Converter is working properly, go to the ‘General’
tab to print a test page.
